Is there any news regarding this or are we stuck in a duty without whispering people for ever?

This was widely protested during beta leading up to launch but despite it being ridiculous, it's not changing.
That could be the tagline of this game: "FFXIV! Despite it being ridiculous, it's not changing."
Think about how annoying it would be to get an RMT /tell mid dungeon.
Think how annoying it is that you have to call people out for not doing their job right and give advice in front of the whole party, only to have them not take even the best well-intentioned advice just because you just shamed them in front of 3-7 strangers.
This has to be one of the most idiotic design choices I've ever seen. It does so many bad things and solves nothing of what Yoshi-P said, I have no idea what he was thinking when he stated the reason, which was that he doesn't want people to be mean, what kind of dumb excuse is that when it has zero basis?
- People mean, abusive etc in party chat.
- With the above, it shames the person in front of everyone
- Because its party chat, more people get involved, becomes a fuck fest of arguing
- Discourages talking private with someone if you plan to do dungeons as you will have to stop talking
Imo, I think SE just built a crap system and are hiding this as an excuse for their laziness because the reasoning and justification is beyond pathetic.
This is the only thing that really ticks me off about the game.
this is a pretty ridiculous limitation.
AT THE VERY LEAST, one should be able to send a tell to someone on one's friendlist... I have to text via cellphone to my friend to coordinate things for when one or both of us are done running something.
complete support
I know you can do this, but it's kind of a ridiculous workaround. Linkshells are intended to be a form of mass communication between players outside a FC---not just two people who should otherwise be able to communicate via /tell
/tells are the only real option for "private" chat.. not that we're doing anything scandalous but there are discussions that just don't pertain to or need to be heard by the entire FC or LS.
Think of how annoying it is to have to put on hold private conversations every time you want to enter something instanced. Think of how annoying it is to be unable to whisper someone on your friend list to ask them to join you in something or to just chat. Think of how annoying it is to be cut off from a socializing feature in an MMO!
I just really hope there main argument wasn't ''stress on the server''.
Hated this in beta. After running dungeons for months I have fallen in love with it. I welcome the silence in that channel.
I don't see /tell during dungeons a necessity. If things are not going well in the party, and I need to be corrected I would hope it can be done without malice. I enjoy citique when it can help me further myself and help my party reach our objectives. Logically, I imagine anyone else would too.
For those that want to verbally ridicule ones performance will just have to do so openly and face possible retribution for their actions.
Well I for one don't want /tell in dungeons.
I know some of you want it bad. But it's just not a good idea.
The last thing I need running a dungeon, is another way for people to be distracted.
It's so stupid when someone dies on a boss and they say
"Sorry was talking to FC, haha" or "Sorry answering LS" Seriously, wasting everyone's time cause you can't pay attention.
You guys seriously want more people sending a tell in dungeons, do the dungeon then talk, or talk before. Seriously, when you get in a dungeon DO THE DUNGEON.
If you want to talk to your FC do it before you go in.
Adding /tell would just make this problem worse, cause people are dumb period.
If they add it to the game it would SUCK.
It has to do with poor server architecture and nothing to do with the reasons Yoshi-P gave.
