My reaction when I got a total of 70 mythology tomestones after doing the high level duty roulette:

I just hope the intended purpose of this isn't forgotten. The moment someone is kicked/pushed around for being new to the content just defeats the purpose of it.
I did this last night and was very impressed. Drew Wanderer's Palace on High Level and came away with 70 Myth books. Switched to WAR for Low Level and drew ifrit and came up with 100K+ EXP and about 1,800 gil. Drew the Praetorium on Missions (man, I forgot how long that mission was!) and got 300 Philosophy books.
Getting new jobs to 50 and geared up just got much easier.
I only play with my wife. So the system, the extra gil, extra myth, are all lost to us.
This is going to force us to do that many more runs for gil/myth then anyone playing solo.
It's been a mixed bag for me.
Low Level Dungeon: Good experience. Think I got some Commendations for tanking.
High Level Dungeon: Annoying experience. Lumped with a preform group that did nothing but bitch about how slow the run was due to me playing a Bard. (It was a WP run, so I guess they were hoping to do a speed run. My average ilvl was only 64 too)
Story Dungeon: Had a great group for Praetorium and a good time was had by all. Cleared it relatively fast too. (it helped nobody actually needed it for the story)
Guildhest: Kind of a clusterf. Was obviously playing with some newer players or people that just didn't care as the Archer just ran ahead of me as a tank and pulled whatever he felt like. It was only a level 15 Guildhest though so it wasn't a big deal.
If I could run into less situations like the WP one I'd be pretty happy with things though.
how often does it reward dps roles? yesterday it was only rewarding extras to healers and tanks for the time I was online =(
I only gave the High Level dungeon a go because a healer was needed, after that it was just tank, tank, tank. Other times I just didn't bother.
A high level WP gave 70 Mytho for me. But for ones such as guildhests, is gil pretty much the only bonus at level 50? Because everyone's boasting about XP but what good is it when you're already max.
When I checked it was under 25% of the time. Tank > Healer > DPS, go figure, but about every hour I'd see one or two DPS required.
Nice to see some positive feedback on the forums.
I heard some people say they got like 300 myth from getting Praetorium as a random.
Is that possible? Like with the tank / healer bonus?
almost an entire level just for doing sastasha once on my whm. nice nice.
everyone in my run was there through the duty roulette, too. that was pretty funny considering the purpose was that new folks could do their runs. lol
I can't wait until I get my mytho capped and run CT on both of my characters so that I can take my scholar into low level DR for the experience!
The only problem I've had is really really fast Rage-Quits in Pharos in DR. Other than that, I think the player commendation system is really helping people be pleasant or extra helpful - you will get people that are normally silent helping out and leading.
So far I'm loving the daily roulette rewards. Every time I run a low-level dungeon with my high-30s WAR, I gain a level. I'm also digging the commendation system. I'm catching up on guildhests I never did, and I usually get at least 1 commendation every time I run a hest or roulette dungeon. Last night, I got commendations from the entire party I tanked for in Sas! That gave me the warm fuzzies.
So far the only annoying thing is.... I keep getting Sastasha! Every single time I do the roulette (and I've tried more than once per day, despite getting the rewards only once), it's always Sas! Sas, Sas, Sas!
I know that place like the back of my hand now >_>;
Ok confused: Someone mentioned that he got put into a pre-made. I thought you can only sign-up solo?
Kinda got a bit too into it and am already capped for the week! Great stuff. Haven't ran any alts through it yet but plan to do when I decide what alt to level next. What is interesting is that I capped out on Philo, so spent it gearing up my SCH :P Safe to say yes, I too, love it.
So far got easy mode Titan 2x. Man, the difference between easy mode and HM is crazy. A lot of wipes since I was with all newbies, but was fun.
I think the depth of the GH depends on a good pt leader but then again my first 1-20 GH were with an experienced player leading the party. He had previously skipped them and since he needed to get them done anyway, he decided to help me since I was accessing them as someone who genuinely needed to learn from them.
So he assisted the party with info on how to take on their roles, aiding also by pointing out the instructions that post up to the duty list upon accessing the content. Whether with an experienced player to assist the inexperienced or as a free for all clusterf, if players are interested in learning during a GH, it is there for the taking. :)
@saber_alter
You got me fiendishly hooked on Fate Zero from that sig pic. I'm barely just starting the series and wholly engrossed with it!
This was my favorite addition to the game. For someone like me that doesn't have all the time in the world to play, a quick random daily is nice for getting some Myth or a nice chunk of exp for an alt class. :)
high roulette feels like russian roulette......last wp run lasted 40 mins, usually it takes like 12 to finish it......so i actually lost mythos points due to the random nature of the stuff :-/
I found it interesting. I've done WP hundreds of times like you guys, but I never found a group that could ever get a real speed run right. And in roulette I ended up in there with a SCH, BLM, BRD, and me WAR all decked out. And we beat it in 14 mins. The quickest I ever experenced was 20 mins at the best. And I was like holy crap. lol. I just saw the blm sprint at the start and knew finally we were going to do this. Makes me so mad I never had good speed runs until now, cause it would of cut so much time off my farming :[. Although I didn't consider that now my war has a lot more staying power with all the buffs I got. And I used them as much as I could while holding onto 2-5 groups of mobs. It felt like I was taking a lot less dmg. Lovin war as much as roulette lol.
So going back and doing the guildhests now with the introduction of the duty roulette (skipped them/missed them the first time) and....
They are damn confusing! Sometimes the instructions are actually the opposite of what I should actually do (kill the adds it says...wait...they spawn forever unless I kill the boss??). They're easy enough to clear, but am I the only one who feels this way?
Guildhests in Duty Roulette are filled with higher level players with good gear, so usually they just kind of ignore the specific guidelines and just zerg fest everything. You get a bonus for no deaths so it mostly works out.
Agreed, this is a welcome feature in 2.1
I love it. I can actually level my Conjurer in a way that mimics what I need to be doing when I hit 50. Healing stuff!
I'm so in love with the Duty Roulette. The bonus philo-tomes in just the last few days has been enough for me to buy a complete set of iLv70 gear for a Monk that I'm currently leveling. The myth-tome income from the high-level dungeons and Crystal Tower has made capping my myth tomes for the week a much nicer experience.
The only thing I can be critical about is that its too easy to gain a lot of exp, I have been on morning shift this week and just pop on to do the roulette's and a quick chat before logging... and I have leveled from 43 - 46 with just those basically.
I appreciate being able to mitigate the long leveling section in the 40's but at the same time it seems I barely have to do much bar some level 16 (highest one I got so far was a Hatali run) and some low level guildhests... and I am dinging without even bothering leaving Gridiania city these days.
... perhaps too much exp for a bonus rewarded run ? I would of been happy with extra exp from other dungeons so dungeons can compete with Fate grinds for exp, and I guess this does it but a bit too much and I havent even seen what a normal none bonus reward run offers in 2.1 .
I'm greatly dissapointed. Every single time I end up in the lv 15 dungeon. I don't see the point, since almost always everyone is level synced. Wouldn't it be more reasonable if everyone got synced to the lowest level player, and end up in a dungeon appropriate for that lv? At leastthen one person could get anything out of it gearwise. How fun is it when 4 lv 30+ people are all synced to a dungeon half their lv? Not much fun at all.
Not much of a roulette if you ask me. You might as well just change the name on it to "Here, have some exp bonus to run Sastasha once per day".
