You won't be buying Fleece/Woolen Yarn for the next 9 days, though - at initial level, you can only purchase stuff up to Undyed Linen Cloth/Mithril Plate from them, and it takes 10 days to advance to reputation level 2.

Awww common. That was my only source of income since I only leveled weaver until now and the materia market crashed.

I guess I'll just finish leveling culinarian and forget about the rest :(

this just seems so counterproductive after they increased the speed at which DoL can level, which we all thought was done so that all these low level mats wouldn't be all over the place. Then they turn around and do this, so I guess the beast man set the highest paying price for mats, and if gatherers wanna make gil they have to sell at or below. Maybe slightly more for convenience of buying in town. Granted i don't believe any of these items are HQ, so maybe it wont hurt everything DoL and DoH sells. Just everything below lv 42 will be effected, sense you can usually HQ anything from NQ mats below that level.

on my server, crafting for profit is pretty much pointless. Well....to me it is. crafting and selling something for under 5k is hardly worth my time with the sheer amount of under cutters. I strongly believe that SE needs to implement some kind of specialization for crafts. Everyone being able to make anything is cool and all but its hurting things more than anything.

Being on a legacy world devalues crafting and gathering out the gate - People don't know how to be smart and keep from crashing item markets on the MB, so I applaud this change, it just makes life easier. I'd hate this change if the community were wiser but sadly it is not.

To the fleece.
Feels like they did this because of RMT's.
Pro: We can now get hard to obtain fleece, which was usually farmed by RMT's and everyone and their moms.
Con: Well, there goes our income.

Game needs to stop handing things out like candy.
Crafting is actually fun this game, too bad it is somewhat useless as hell.
The games economy is a joke anyways, it's just getting worse.

How about ban RMT's more than an every now and then sweep?

Fleece wasn't really that bad at all to farm after they added more mobs. At least here on midgar.

Regarding fleece now fleece is dropped more frequently and can drop up to 5 now IIRC.

Expect Fleece to be less than 100 gil soon.

Man.. I used to farm it back in September when it was like 600-800 gil for NQ. Good times. That's how I made all of my money.

The more I think about the repercussions of this, the more I like it. So we agree that NPCs handing out farmed items will cause the markets to crash. That's generally bad, except in the case of housing. Hear me out. So after the markets crash it'll be even more difficult for anyone to afford a house than it already is, which in turn will allow even fewer FCs to purchase one. This will ultimately force SE to lower the costs for housing sooner and by a larger amount than they have announced.

So it's a win-win. It's cheaper/easier to level a craft, and housing prices will need to be adjusted even more. Lovely!

No one wins. Crafting and gathering is still worthless and housing prices are still "high".

Housing prices are fine and if you could read, you'd see that the prices will drop to half in a few months' time.

I dont know why people are so upset, you are forgetting a few key factors here.
1. People dont like daily's, many people wont touch these and thus will not rank up enough to buy said items.
2. People are lazy. Why run out to the vendor when you just need a few, oh look the AH house them for just a tiny bit more gil.

Just because one item isnt as viable for gil anymore doesnt mean you wont make anything by gathering. I have changed the items I gather to sell 10+ times since this game started. And I still make good money in gathering, yes I have to check the AH before I go out, see what is going for good prices, see what has dropped. The market is always in flux. I dont see this as a defeat for crafters. I see this as a good counter measure to RMT.

It will effect NQ prices, but vendors still don't sell HQ. There is a positive side to it, for what its worth lol.

I'll defend him. Since you think the prices are so low, why don't you buy them, make stuff with them, and put it in your retainer, give it to your fc, or sell it.

Buy a bunch of cheap NQ and turn em into HQ products..or buy the overpriced HQ mats (since people will try to use this as a means of inflating NQ prices)? Which would you honestly do?

I suck at HQing, so to make HQ items, I'll use HQ mats.

Reducing our ability to make money only increases the demand for RMT. I'll never buy from RMT, but many people do, and many people will that previously would not have.

Sucks how much DoL/DoH are getting screwed, from being a full class to an afterthought.

Timeworn maps= 30k a pop. ( one a day obviously) HQ mats= Profit.

NQ mats normally are pretty low as it is anyways.

Combine that with Duty Roulette gil bonuses you could roughly get 50k in a short amount of time. + HQ mats you farm for.

The Fleece market, and as far as I can tell just got torpedoed, I tried a little fleece farming last night as that's how I made decent money when I first dinged 50 but the drop rate is now really high (9 drops per mob now seems to be the maximum) and I farmed up a full stack in 20 minutes. Combine that with being able to buy it and, well that's the fleece market gone. I farmed fleece a lot and I don't remember seeing RMT anywhere near it to be honest so I can't see how this would combat RMT, they need to change gathering to get rid of RMT, not regular farming.

I think another issue is that people will be even more stingy when buying on the markets because they want to save up for FC housing plots and buildings.

RMT will just adjust and find something else. And then SE will nerf that. And RMT will find something else. And SE will nerf that. And on. And on.

They should simply do a better job of banning RMT accounts and stop trying to kill all the cockroaches. You can't kill the cockroaches. They survive nuclear blasts. They're an unfortunate and unavaoidable byproduct of your game model. All these attempts to make things harder for RMT are only making it harder for your players, because RMT will always be better at adapting than the player base. They literally have nothing else to do.

...how disappointing. I actually enjoyed going to the mb and see which items are on demand and deciding the quantity and price. It was like a mini game, but with alotnof rewards.

The only benefit I can see is that people can buy the amount of mats they need for a reasonable price than buying 99 for 5k gil.

Hopefully this remains a beastribe bonus, since I'm sure not everyone will know about it or will care to do it.

People can still make money, just not be able to charge as much as they did.

With this news I guess its pointless for me to bother using leves to level my botany/ carpenter

Sold my garuda feather on the ah for 100k, and then got another one and sold it for 100k. All those drops from hard modes are sellable on the AH now. Also all the furniture from the GC Seals is sellable on the AH as well.

Most of our wolf stuff had like 1-2 things sell for 40k before dropping to like the 10k mark. For HQ -_-
