"Terrible Idea" does not begin to describe the CT loot system in reality.

So... we've all been complaining about the way loot was going to work in CT... and now that 2.1 has come out, it appears that not only were we all right - we were too right.

Today, my FC and I ran Crystal Tower. Not one single person rolled on an item because to do so meant they wouldn't be able to get what they actually wanted. Everyone passed, every item got left behind and wasted. This is not good. This is terrible.

Well, there was one exception. Some of us were confused over a post on reddit where it was claimed that Yoshi said in an interview that if you greeded an item, you could still need on others - this of course does not match the dev posts made here on the forums. So, to test this theory... I rolled greed on a bard chest because in the worst case, I'd get a piece of gear for an alt job that I run coil with sometimes. Well... I was the only one to roll... not even the actual bard rolled on it. And of course, I wasn't able to roll on any other items.

Even more interesting though is that on the last boss, the bard pants dropped. Everyone in my party zoned out except for me. Now, when you do this in a normal dungeon, that item gets forced on whoever didn't yet roll - as long as they don't already have it. In crystal tower, however, because I had already won an item... the pants got wasted.

Well, I got my one item for the week. I finished the quest. So... why should I run it again prior to reset? It's faster to farm myth in the new dungeons, or keep speedruning WP.



Let's recap for all you TL:DR people.... the CT loot system favors destroying loot that's actually useful to people, and there is no incentive to either stay in the raid after you win a drop, or run the dungeon again once you finish it.

Why was this deemed a good idea? Because it artificially inflates the length of time that content will be run? No, seriously... why was this idea? I'd much rather have a coil type lockout where useful gear doesn't get scarped.




And by the way, it's actually easy to queue up a full 24 man premade. All you need is 3 parties and voice chat to sync up queues.

Oh wow, you are actually able to do Crystal Tower? Stupid FATEs...

coil locks you out, cannot rejoin and cannot help friends.
people ask for loot lockout instead so that they can run it multiple times.
SE does that with CT and people whine.

CT item level will be between the prev and next level of coil, that's why you have a lock.

they should make you roll on all loots in 1 CT run in a week rather than 1 loot for a week

so u can have chance to get 4 loots in 1 run in a week

not 1 loot weekly

still its good that CT is not complete lock out like coil

CT is lower ilevel than Turn 1. CT (i80) is and was always meant to be between DL (i70) and Allagan(i90), why do you think people are so miffed about the lockouts? The gear is lower ilevel than coil or myth armor and has harsher lockout restrictions on gear drops than either of the i90 sources.

I stay because I need the phil and myth tomes, that's all. Plus I can still greed on some gear.

i think u misunderstand the lockout concept of CT. u can only roll 1 item every week.

As for pieces going to waste well that's people's fault for letting gear go to waste I guess. I personally will lot on whatever Warrior gear drops first. Eventually in a number of weeks I'll have the set hopefully.

It's unfair I can't help my friends out!!" And so SE answers by making a restricted loot system allowing people to run the instance with friends as many times as they want. so what if everyone passed and loot wasted? it is loot no one wants, so I don't see anything wrong with having it drop to the ground. Also, you can run the instance to your hearts content until something you want comes up and you lot on it.

the point is, why is there such a lockout for a low tier dungeon drop? 1 drop per week for all your classes? i think most of the people here wants a per class lockout which is totally unecessary to begin with

Except that you cannot greed on gear. You can get phil and myth tomes, but there are better ways now. And much faster ways.

People pass not because they don't want it, but because they want something else first. If you want pants, chest, and legs... but chest is a bigger upgrade... then you're going to pass on the pants and legs. That means they get scraped, even though you actually do want and could use them.

Full set minus coil sets would roughly be 12 weeks tops? That'll be roughly Feb. Maybe to coincide with any new 2.2 content if there is any?

the amount of time and cordination spent on that dungeon is staggering we did not even finish it but jesus >.< not even worth the time and effort the migraine that CT requires I am sorry but takes extremely long time to accomplish a single boss kill that guess what gives 1 item each ......

I'm not seeing what's wrong with this, you clearly have a priority on things you want, so just lot on it and move onto next week? do you want everything handed to you in a single run?

so you would rather have 1 run where you get to free roll on all the items then get loot locked instead of being able to farm ct for that 1 item you really want. I think it's fine.

I planned on gearing alt jobs with CT, but in the end I will get them geared faster and to higher gear levels from just myth grinding in the new higher cap and from continuing to run coil after main jobs are geared.

CT has no purpose with this kind of lockout other than to do a quest. It's disappointing, but luckily a lot of other cool stuff is added in 2.1. I am safely able to ignore CT and Housing and continue to enjoy the game at the moment.

Call me back when CT doesn't have stupid lockout rules.

This really is a horrible system.. Especially considering that this isn't even the best gear you can obtain, and it'll take atleast -a month- to gear -one job- with just the basic hands, feet, chest and pants.

It's just stupid.

People complain about lack of gear options. We get more options. Now People complain about how they can't spam and get all gear in 1 day. Guess this is why we can't have anything nice. It's like people think 14 is the only one to lockouts too.

This game needs to less focus on content lifespan extensions and more on making it function with the armoury system before the content is hideously outdated.

Even with the raised myth cap, you still need two weeks to get one piece of 495 myth gear, 3 weeks for relic+1 (which you can skip by doing extreme primals). I'd say CT is actually faster than myth which is inline with the whole ilvl hierarchy.

but then again, why limit yourself to just one source for gear? do coil? extreme primals?

im fine with the loot lock out. at least it isnt like coil. the problem i saw all day running it was people splitting. ever been Q'd up inside WP or AK and you had to sit there for what seems like forever for 2 other people? well, multiply that by 8.... it got to the point far too many times that people got tired of waiting and attempted Behemouth with as few as 16 people. NOT FUN. please please please... if the lock out stays the same, please do not drop loot into a player's hands until either the last boss is downed or the time runs out (for those that cannot beat the last guy) or make the penalty for leaving more severe.

QQ i can't equip all of my jobs in 1 week QQ i actually got to play a few weeks without yelling that there is nothing to do QQ

And btw. you stated that there is no sense in it to run CT without getting loot anymore, tell that to all the crybabies that wanted exactly that for Coils so they could run them even without items to have some "fun".

thats a decent amount. I would not have minded having one roll per alt but its fine the way it is. especially with teh myth increase

I don't mind the loot lockout, its fine, (though i think it should be 2-3 pieces limit weekly thats another story)

I DO mind the fact pieces can fall to the ground. Thats a bad thing to have players sit through observing.
nothing should fall to the ground. the group should decide well if nobody wants to waste their roll on that
who at least has the class leveled? then let it fall to some one, rather than the ground, Whether this be by
passing the item or leaving the instance. Falling to the ground is just sad :/

Don't worry guys, I bet they raise greed/need limit by one in 2.2 patch! Just when you are done gearing your alt with CT gear, they make CT gear more easy to get. How cool is that?

I'm kind of limited when I don't even know their goals besides artificially increasing content lifespans. We have lockouts then we have primals and the rest of the game you can farm until you die of exhaustion. Then we have CT that isn't even end game with 1 item per week.

Which negates the purpose of the armoury system entirely. Which is my point. I know all about having alts. I did that to have more raids to do before. Everything pre Coil+Myths and now CT is all like "You don't need alts!" and then you hit that brick wall.

My point is that it feels like more trouble than it's worth when I can get ilvl90 anyway. In two weeks, I can get 1 or 2 allagan pieces for something and then 1 or 2 myth items. CT gives me 1 ilvl80 a week. Sure it's one more than 0, yeah I got it, but why should ilvl 80 gear be more difficult to obtain than ilvl90? That's my point. My opinions on the value of the gear aside, you have a system that can leave drops unused as people fear losing their 1 chance that week for a particular item. That's not good. Reminds me of suicide kings loot distribution. You have drops you can't allocate to anyone despite being an upgrade somewhere cause no one wants to lose their one shot. It's just bad design (in my opinion).

All the people whining now are liars or a running joke ? If you don't want to use CT to gear your main, you can always gear the second class while the main is getting geared. That said, after i geared with ct my second class, i'll still do for my main :P mnk set is awesome looking

Barring some excellent luck, its actually easier to get most your AF2 armor than it is to get CT equipment, that seems kind of backwards. I understand they didn't want people to be able to grind a full set of ilvl 80 gear in a week nor did they want to cripple CT in the DF by only allowing one run per week per person but the current system is silly.
