PVP Rank, the horror

so, the pvp rank this is amazing, you get "levels" and you put points in abilities for pvp! cool, more customization then ever before!

now the bad,

they are per character, not class, and it requires 5000 seals (EDIT - some maths have bee clarified, not as bad as my original estimate, more like 8-20 hours, still ridiculous)to reset your points, in short, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT CROSS CLASS PVP, EVER.

once again, the armory system is a lie in this game.

while I will continue to have a good time in pvp as a PLD, i have to say the simple fact that I can never pvp as all the other classes I have leveled without being "gimp" and i do mean GIMP (the abilities are that good, yes) has made me very sad.

thanks for a great pvp design SE, this little flaw though hurts it, alot.

what are your thoughts on this? I know it is a new feature, so we should let SE know about what we like and don't like, and this I dislike much more then BLM sleep which is easily negated with a couple of PVP levels and abilities.

EDIT 2 - someone has said you can level up again as a different grand company, which would mean you could potentially play 3 classes, given a huge time investment, and the large gil cost to switch GC, even still, that sounds better then 5k seals (1 end game armor piece) to switch points.

Hmm...I would have thought you'd be able to level up points for each class. Where you wouldnt be able to use the points you earned on, say, pld for your blm, your blm would earn points as you PVP as blm

Just how I feel. I, personally, will probably only pvp as blm (until thf or ninja is added), but I do see your point and frustration.

I'm sure they did this so players would grind to reset. As it stands, the game doesn't have an outstanding amount of content, so they want to stretch every bit of interesting content as much as they possibly can.

I guess this isn't that much of an issue for most people, either that of they just don't understand yet the ramifications of this. This is worse then not having myth cap per class in my opinion. it seems that some abilities are shared though, such as purify (the ultimate skill everyone gets) is shared, but if I get one of my super important PLD specific abilities for pvp, i use those points for good and no other class can use them if i switch to it, it really stinks.

I have 5k seals after 6-8 hours of grinding.

Your math is way off.

Also, certain abilities are shared, like Purify, you pay for it once and get to use it for every class that has access to it. Of course that doesn't make your complaint less valid, but at least it's something

impossible 50 marks for 1 win and fights take about 10 mins beginning to end (que, wait time for fight to start, and the time it takes fight to end) so even if you won every single match that's 10 mins*100 = 1000 mins = 16.67 hours if you do nothing BUT WIN. and i don't have a premade decked out to do that, so say you win 50% of the time...that will increase the time frame by close to double, so for simplicity lets say double, that's 33.33 hours of grinding on average to switch your points ONCE. still a ridiculous amount of time.

Your math is COMPLETELY wrong. My PvPing of today is proof of that.

how many matches have you completed? i'm honestly curious to know, because most of my matches have been around 10 mins from start to finish consistently, are you in solo or premade que, are the marks you are seeing higher then 10 per loss and 50 per win if your in premade que ? (you can see your matches done in the pvp profile)

108 matches
87 victories.

I only get 50-60 marks per match. The matches last an average of 5-6 minutes.

Pffft! I wish I had a 50% win record. And I thought some of the people I played with in DF dungeon/primal runs were bad...

so it seems people are getting more then 50 marks, is the wolfs buff from FC that worth it? 60 marks instead of 50 is a huge difference, with that, and winning all the time, i can see it being done in this 8 hour timeframe you speak of, but it could take as long as my estimates if you don't do well.

My match last between 30second to a minute

You have 3 different sets of skills, you get 30 points for each of the GCs, so if you want to play a different class just switch GC and eventually you will have them all at 30. Melee DPS, Caster DPS, Tank. (I know it doesn't break down this easily, but w/e)

really now? i suppose i can live with that, even if it means grinding for god knows how long 3x to get pvp rank 30 again and again, i'll take it over only one, still 9 jobs 3 GC, not enough, but i'll take :P

The only problem with that is that it takes 30 Real Life days to switch your Grand Company (once you leave your original one.) Switching your GC constantly isn't a viable PvP option.
