New Female Highlander Hairstyles... got the shaft

Don't see anything new except ugly pigtails. :|

Well, admittedly, Highlander Hyur women had the widest variety of hairstyles.

Are you kidding? They were the most LIMITED.

Aesthetician is an overall disappointment, male mid-hyur got one of the Elezen hairstyles and that's it.

Did they drop the freckles?...

Really sad, saw the screenshot they posted and was looking forward to that one... and it isn't there.

I was expecting a handful of new hairstyles, but I don't notice anything new compared to the char creation.

Slightly disappointed, but I am still happy to be able to change my look whenever I please

Yeah I was disappointed as well. All the midlander females got was that long Farrah flip hair. Was hoping for some of the other races.

Miqo'te only got one too, the female human pigtails. But the lightning hair is so much better on a Miqo'te anyway.

I have no clue why they didn't just give all female and all male haircuts to everyone.

Yoshi said that the long-term goal was for every race to have access to all the hairstyles from all races, but it would be something they would implement little by little over time. So while we only got a few now, it looks like each update we will be getting more.

Well they never said how many, but I don't imagine it would be that few. I think we can expect more now that the barber shop is actually in the game and running.

You can still change your looks to the old stuff, which previously you could only do if you had a Fantasia potion (and the most you could possibly have gotten is 2 I believe). The intention is to let people change their looks whenever they want. New haircuts and stuff is just a bonus.

I'm pretty disappointed with only getting one new style also, especially because it's not actually new, but the system
is there to let people change whenever they want. Not everyone is happy with the same look forever.

I was expecting all the female hairstyles to be available as I was led to believe by the devs.

Does anyone know what "Use token" is? I accidentally clicked on it, but it still worked so where are these tokens from?

I think you have to do some quests to unlock haircuts ... just sayin ;)

When you complete the quest it gives a token for 1 free haircut, which is what you used.

Normally you have to pay 2,000 gil.

What does the new style for male miqo'te and mid hyur look like? can only play in the evening due to work but am kinda curious!

Not just that race, only 1 new style for each race I think.
Plus the lighting fate one.
I though all hairstyles would be available for all races.
Big dissapointment.

SE give all races all of each other's haircuts.

Use the Summoning Bell inside your Inn and you can summon him from there.

On topic: I'm also incredibly disappointed by the lack of options. They showed off a male Elezen concept art ages ago, even before release during one of the live letters and it STILL hasn't made it into the game. I get that it will take time, it just seems silly they would show it off so long ago and not at least have it ready for the release of the barber.

I'm keeping my hair on my main Elezen because he's based off my FFXI model I chose. I may change my male Miqo'te's hair if there is going to be a longer hair style for the males. I may also change my female Midlander Hyur's hair if they have something else that's long, though I want it to stay something similar since that character is based off my favorite singer.

Was disappointed as well ._. hyur got near to nothing new other then the lighting hairstyle from what I could tell.

In the Letter from the Producer LIVE Part X, Yoshida mentioned that each patch will focus on a specific race along with opening other race's hairstyle options.

Good deal guys, in 3-6 months we can use this feature for what we wanted it to be. Just like housing..and pvp. *sigh*

From what I've heard from friends, it seems like all races only got 1-2 additional options.

Not to be all doom and gloom... but I hope the disappointment many feel encourages the Dev Team to, at the very least, increase the number of hairstyles added per race for the next patch. Waiting three to six months for only one to three hairstyles to be added is quite... absurd.

Especially since what they added for my race, Mi'qote, was my absolute least favorite option: pigtails. I hate pigtails. Just despise them. I was so annoyed when I saw that pigtails was the new option I had to work with.

I don't understand why they gave miqo'te THIRD set of pigtails... I wanted the ponytail from midlander females.

You're playing an MMO with hundreds of thousands of subscribers, if not more, where each race has only a handful of hairstyles, a good number of which are shared between multiple races.

No matter what you pick you're going to look like 18394829347293804723401987230981374802934723980471093274 other people you special snowflake.

Your character is currently wearing my previous hairstyle, for example.

Pick what you like the most. Wear it. When you get bored of it, change it. That's the primary point of the Aesthetician.

I tried out the Aesthetician last night and I was a bit disappointed. Sure, I had the Snow hair style as an option but I dislike Snow so freaking much that I can't bear the thought of my male Miqo'te resembling him. And I've yet to see any male player character in-game (thus far) with it that I'm inclined to think that I'm not the only one that feels that way about the hair style.

Haha yeah. There really seems to be a love it - hate it type approach to the FFXIII hairstyles, as expected.

Depending on the race in question, they can be one of the best options though. Personally, I'm no particular fan of Snow or particularly even a fan of using existing character hairstyles (seems about as weird as if they added Cloud's hairstyle now and we saw a bunch of Clouds running around).

That being said, I immediately changed my male miqo'te alt's hairstyle to the Snow one and feel right at home with it. Out of the options for male miqo'te, I personally find that one to be the best looking. Especially since I typically don't display head pieces on him and I wanted a longer hairstyle that didn't look incredibly feminine and this hairstyle basically solves both.


My main disappointment with the Aesthetician is that we're unable to change eye color.
