What's the weirdest reason you gave, or that someone gave you, for going afk?

"Have to go Grandmother's on fire"

Divorce if I don't talk to wife

"hold on guys let me finish smoking this weed"

Thats a normal reason for me to go afk

Once I said "OH GOD BRB MY TURTLE IS RUNNING AWAY" My old ls wouldn't let me live that down for awhile.

I had 2, in consecutive coil parties:

"My cat just jumped out the window"
and
"My wife just started a fire in the kitchen. Normally I would ignore, but we live on the 21st story of an apartment."

girlfriend just came over, about to get some head real quick. brb.

Mine would be "BRB son's bird just dive bombed me need to see what it wants", which meant he had no food or clean water and would sit on my desk and poop on stuff if I didn't get him squared away.

Kids are a full time job, when they sleep is when you get to do things. Same when they are at school or other activities only free time you get, most parents take advantage of that time to relax or do fun things.

You obviously don't have a lot of kids...

Started a CM run to help some people through their story and only had to pug a tank. Get a Relic PLD. He afks at the entrance. We go through the entire instance with 1 tank. Right as we get to the final boss he comes back.

"Sorry, kid fell and cut his head. Had to take him to the emergency room."

Fastest (and most conveniently timed) ER in the entire world.

Exactly...when you have kids and they are sleeping or at school, that's going to be the only free time you have to relax.

I'm not sure why you can't play MMORPG if you have kids, unless you're a helicopter parent

yeah I guess for me im a single guy if I had a girl and kids I would definitely have limited game time. I would rather spend it having a romantic evening with my girl :D But yeah I want kids before im 40 years old and that is soon :(

Valentines day, son is showing off for girls on the playground. Hits the slide wrong, from the time we picked him up got his 3 stitches he was back at school within 45 mins. Sometimes you get lucky, but yea doubt that guy did.

I was on TS at the time, and had an asthma attack...had to afk 20 mins and my group was like "YAY SHE LIVES!" When I got back.

"BRB Fire" (the guy was actually a fireman and went out randomly for 10-15 mins at a time to put out fires then came back to play, wouldn't have minded if he told us ahead of time he may have to leave several times during the instance to do his job)

I have them almost daily. Usually it is nothing but there are times when you want to check whether it is going to escalate.

Hard to have kids when women cheat on ya, All the good women are taken.

I think the best one I've ran into was the narcoleptic healer who went to the bathroom and fell asleep (1.x) comes back 20 minutes later like it had only been a few minutes.

I did a "earthquake" afk on Saturday. I was playing with european friends, but I am living in Japan, so not so surprising here.

As an asthmatic myself .. this happens more often I'd like ._.

On topic: One i end using frequently (and it totally happens) is:
BRB one sec, my cat took a dump under my chair again.

My cat will not use her tray for solid business. She happily uses it for everything else, including furballs, but not poop.

Ummm... It's midnight, my 3 year old is sleeping right now...is it okay if I play?

Which is WHY, by the way you get parents, responsible ones at that, saying 'sorry gotta go AFK kiddo needs me' because well Kiddo wasn't supposed to need me, which is why in my free time (parents still have that ya know) I logged into a game to relax...but she now just suddenly and unexpectedly woke up at 11pm 3 hours into her bedtime with a fever. And being the responsible parent,and gamer, I politely tell you why I need to afk, and attend to my sick child...or scared child (bad dream)...or my child who had an accident because she's learning to go through the night...and why I don't ignore my child who needs me to play a video game.

On topic I did once accidentally type in FC chat:
/fc guys gonna be afk for a bit, be back later
and then meant to /t my hubby who also plays
/t nookie break?
...but instead mt'd it with his name and the question in FC right afterwards :o

I brb for coffee or else I'll start shaking again. but thats completely normal, right?

Back in 1.0 my pit bull brought a deer leg in the house in the middle of the van Darnus fight. Came back to the whole party dead, but we beat it on the next run so it was... worth it? Maybe not for the deer, but yeah.
