Any word about current status of maintenance?

I know the maintenance was scheduled until 00:00 dec 17th, but they hinted at it perhaps finishing early.

Was curious if anyone has heard anything about where they are at? Are they experiencing difficulties? Is it going smoothly? Will they finish early enough that I'll be able to play?

These are questions I'm sure many of us are asking, or hoping are answered in our favor.

I'm curious by nature, but also motivated by my addiction for the game. I'm very much hoping it will be finished up soon. I'm quite restless and anxious to get started on the new content, much like everyone is.

I've been double clicking my laucher every now and then to check if worlds are opened or not... but seems they're still closed :(
Also last time i checked there was no news on FB/Twitter...

Last news I heard was during the live Youtube patch presentation thing (around 8 hours ago) where Yoshida said they might finish a few hours early.

It's night here so I set my alarm to ring every two hours to check up on things.

Well, the patch server is up and running, so you can start the update immediately.

They did say the maximum was 24 hours, so fingers crossed that they will release the servers earlier but I dobut that'd be the case since the patch is 3GB, equivilent to a whole game.

They can spend as long as they want, full 24 hours even, as long as there is no update bullshit such as lag/bug/crash. But doubt it, because basically those are the routines' of MMO update nowday.

Maint was planed from 8:00 am GMT 16th to 8:00 am GMT 17th and still is, check out Facebook FFXIV ARR.
So server goin up in 8,5 hours. Have fun.

Oh good to know. I thought it will shut down tomorrow. Good thing I checked the forum cuz I thought I somehow got that patch early due to their mistakes, lol.

Had I known I would've logged in and downloaded the patch sooner. Now I'm even more excited, can't wait to get a new hair cut!

.....and look wistfully at the FC houses from behind the gate :-(

yeah, most looked forward to thing for this patch: Not having the same hairstyle as every other F. Highlander Hyur on every server! also, this one clips with certain armor which annoys the heck out of me.

I have a feeling once it goes up it will come right back down and do so for many days or weeks, If that happens im out. Not paying money for a game that can not keep a server up, 24 hours is a lot of time to make sure everything is good other than that if there are issues after they can still let us on the servers just limit the issue and let us know through ingame what issues or on the website.
I wont mention the game I came from but they released a huge patch update and before it they had a beta test server*
Now I have not seen one for here so guess we just gotta hope all goes well and keep paying to play.

If this one was in a pool, it would put an up time at 2330 PST, but this is pure conjecture.

Yep, don't be surprised if it takes longer than 24 hours. I'm not bashing SE. You just eventually get used to this sort of thing. I'm just super happy that it downloaded 3GB in under an hour. SE patch downloading used to be one of the worst experiences on the internet. It looks like they've made some major improvements!
