New 2.1 Healer Weapons!

....seriously, Piety and spell speed? Piety because obviously scholars are not experts in recovering MP.

Ok sarcasm over. I'd like to get some insight as to how SE makes these stat allocation decisions? Do they actually put thought into it or do they just 1) randomly choose stats or 2) ask the HR department for their input.

That iLvl 90 book and cane look terrible stat wise. Why would a whm need crit? Why would SCH use spell speed over crit?

Also those stat upgrades on the allagan weapons. I guess it would be nice for the extra vit and mnd

I'm confused by this...

Direwolf Grimoire while actually being a pvp item seems to be the better ilv90 choice even though it only has 3 stats instead of 4 (outside of pvp). that crit looks just too sexy compared to spell speed and pie (and even determination)

The Allagan Book remaining BiS was kind of expected. At the moment it seems as if getting the Cognitome is a way to get an i90 weapon without spending myth which is why it would be appealing to some people, myself included. Reasoning for stat allocations

Cognitome - i90 weapon, lackluster secondary stats.
Omnilex +1 - i90 weapon, better secondary stats (900 myth to acquire)
Allagan - i95, BiS need to clear T5 and be lucky it drops.

At the moment, I've cleared T5 with just the SCH relic as I was hoping that I could get the Allagan book instead of spending 900 myth. Either way, the Cognitome will be an upgrade compared to the i80 Relic.

This!! Did they mix up the stats for Scholar & White Mage!? I'm shocked and well aside the fact that the face on the book is nasty looking I now have no reason to bother with it. Guess I'll go get my relic to ZENITH after all (I was holding out for these weapons...)

On the up side, at least the Moogle book gives crit making it basically the best scholar weapon to use for everything except running Bahamut's Coil.

Nope. Huge MND drop (and EFFECTIVE MND drop from weapon damage) is not worth that crit. At all. Even comparing it to NQ Omnilex it's -1 damage, -3 MND/VIT. Effective ~10 MND drop for the 30 crit. That's debatable. Anything higher ilvl? Forget it. Moogle book loses.

I am gonna try to make a spell speed set to see how much it affects my abilites. 2.5 second stoneskin would be really sweet.

The Scholar Allagan book is still BiS and such a great weapon.

I don't think you should really worry about it, especially given the increase in Myth tome cap per week. Omnilex+1 is still better than Cognitome so you have the second-best SCH weapon at the moment. That Allagan book though....so good.

to the dudes talking omnilex:

1. yes, still +1. omnilex is better
2. no, you should not be upset about +1ing your weapon. omnilex is better

what about spell speed and piety makes you go "I NEED TO HAVE THAT?" primal book sucks.

i was hoping to get a pre-allagan alternative to relic with crit but i guess i'll have to hold out now. the stats on the weapons are completely backwards

I would argue Omnilex+1 is not so much better that the Extreme weapon is made obsolete. Both should be adequate for turn 5. If you'd rather spend the myth on other things, get the Extreme book. If you already have Omnilex+1, keep using it.

Very unfortunate, I was planning on updating my Omniplex as well this week; however, I figured I'd wait to see what weapons were coming down the chute.

I'm going to go ahead and buy those Argute Culottes and move on from there.

So are the 95 alagan weapons better then relic +1? I don't have a relic so i'm curious.

Wish they swapped the stats on the whm and sch's ex primal weapons.

seriously that SCH book is terrible, I have no intention of going through the trouble of beating each EX primal for a weapon that doesn't even benefit my main, like WTF SE who allocated these stats?

That SCH book stats made me facepalm so hard my face is still stinging. -_-; Just omg... What am I supposed to do with spell speed as an sch???

Ha yea. But I'll take +28 piety with the primal weap. More heals/other shiznit b4 i gotta replenish. And there's spell speed on the Relic Zenith so it's not like they took something away (just never gave it to you lol). xD

If you already have Omnilex+1 or Thyrus+1, keep it until Allagan.
If you don't have Relic+1 (or don't want to spend the myth for it), get Omnirod/Cognitome

That's my plan. My sch and whm are secondary to my smn, so being able to get i90 weps without having to spend my myth is awesome. The stats aren't great, but at least they're i90, which is more important to me. It is weird that crit is on the whm one not the sch one, but oh well. I use the same gear set for both chars, so my whm already has way too much crit. :b
