24 hours..seriously?

don't take this the wrong way i am very excited for the updates..but how is it possible it takes 24 hours (maximum) just for a patch, I've never seen that before....

well what to do all day now lol

And it's not just a patch, they're replacing their hardware too (the physical servers).

Have you read the patch notes? That's a lot to test.

24 hour maintenance (maximum) probably means nothing, this is SE and they'll probably take longer, but if the stars align they might finish sooner...

Not so much replacing them, but just rearranging the server groups from straight region based (JP and NA/EU) to specific groupings based on server population and server traffic. Note that there is nothing to suggest that the servers are being physically relocated to new locations however - it's more just a different way of grouping them on the character selection screen, and the servers need adjustments for that.

Because it is not only the patch. They do also some changes in the NA/EU datacenter server structure.

Remember that the time given is an ESTIMATE. The actual time of completion can vary based on a large number of outcomes. If the patch goes smoothly with little hiccups and glitches, then you might (and I stress that word) see a shorter time. If it's plagued with problems during testing, you'll see time added to the 24hours, or may even see additional emergency maintenance during this week.

You obviously haven't played Aion EU after GF took over pretty much every major patch is min 24hrs, lol. Weekly maint is 8hrs+ xD

The more I'm learning, housing price rage aside, the more overwhelmed im getting with how much more content is coming. It's like a mini-expansion, not just your run-of-the-mill patch.

There is an explanation letter with the news of the maintenance. In short, they are doing a lot of stuff.

Its a day, take a nap, go for a walk, catch up on TV, work, or do what i plan on doing and browse the forums and laugh at everyone QQing cause they didn't get catered to

Lol chill out bro I wanna play too but it's a damn patch what do u expect and a huge content patch at that too.

As others have said, there's a bit more going on than just the game being patched.
Datacenters are being serviced, if I am not mistaken they are shortening the positional delay on certain battlefields and I am pretty sure extra server capacity needs to be added to accomodate the new dungeons, housing, Wolves' Den, etc.

That said, where have you been?
It's been announced nearly or even over a week ago that this would be a big maint which would take ~24 hours.

Because this patch is like (or almost like) an extention.

Apply to become a part of squares development team than maybe we can all get it sooner... if not just got to deal with it like the rest of us.
