PVP Thoughts: Being Locked into Tank, 2x DPS, and Healer

So, like I expected, our parties have to consist of a tank, 2 DPS and a healer for PVP. Is anyone else a little disappointed that we aren't allowed to customize teams a bit more instead of being locked into a formula?

I understand that balancing is a huge issue for this sort of thing and maybe they found that testing 4x DPS parties were just sweeping the normal parties, or some such, but I hope in the future there will be instances that we can take in whomever we want to battle it out, even if it doesn't affect rank or marks.

If I want to take in 4 Scholars for my team 'The Vengeful Faeries' than gosh-durnit, I want to!

If you join with a preformed party you can have whatever setup you want.

Preformed parties have to adhere to the requirement too. Hopefully in the future there will be opportunities to deviate.

Double healer comps (or more) would be awful.

Ick ick ick ick. That is awful. Seriously, with these PvP changes (all damage interrupting casts, locking PvP abilities behind point walls that even further exacerbate the gear wall inherent in gear-based PvP), it's like Squeenix is deliberately trying to sabotage the system just so they can justify not giving two shits about it.

The party requirements are definitely giving PvP a lot of structure. I don't mind but I do think it would be interesting to see an unrestricted Que in addition to the standard Tank Heals DPSx2 que.

I'm actually 100% for this, and am super happy it's like so. If people could stack say, 4 BLMs and if it were supremely successful it would end up like most end game content in game. Sure people will still resort to the class combos that work best, but least there is a bit of a mix.

Could you people seriously wait until PvP is even out before totally freaking out about how every aspect of it is a complete and utter failure?

You forget where you are sir/madam this is the general forums! common sense has no place here!

If people were allowed to use any format they wanted for PvP, they would just all use the same combination that yields the easiest and fastest win. Probably just 4 DD wailing on each other for a minute. It would probably kill PvP, honestly. Maybe they can add a section of PvP for it, but it should be unranked/less prestigious than the structured matches.

Could swear it said you have to stick to the set party formation until level 50 matches, which you can go in as whatever you want.

It doesn't take a genius to understand what "one tank, one healer, and two dps" means, and I don't need to experience the content to understand that this seriously messes up with a lot of my plans for experimenting in PvP.

In competitive PvP MMOs tanks almost are never played in any comp. So its a bit weird to require them.

SE needs to open up some stands for PVP, all this instance crap you never get to watch and learn from other players. WAY too many instances in this game, no wonder the servers are on fire and need to be taken down twice weekly for maintenance. You know you want to see two tanks try to damage each other and the mages play who has the most mp wins!
