CT loot lockout
SE, I will start by saying I'm very excited for 2.1. However I am disappointed in a few of the ways you have chosen to implement the new material. The most recent is that you have chosen to emplacement a loot lockout for CT. In my opinion, it is a horrible mistake. It will work Fi e for about 1 month as people will want to clear CT for the first time. But after that, your going to start having problems. Without the ability to do a full FC run, CT will have lots of pugs. What's going to happen is when the first boss is killed, 3 people will get loot. These 3 then have no reason to keep raiding. They can at most gain tomes. So what happens, is once you get your one piece of loot, they leave. Now the raid is down 3 players. You raid to get gear. No gear, no reason to raid.
-
I understand what you are trying to do. So the easy way to do it is to move the lockout to locking out ones "need" role. This ensures people don't just run through and need everything. But at the same time, it encourages people to continue up to raid each week.
I promise you, if you keep the loot lockout, it will become the source of the most complaints in the game. Be smart SE.
-
I've generally raided because I enjoy it, it's fun coordinating with friends and having a laugh whilst at it. Even when I was hardcore raiding in previous games and already had all the gear I needed I continued anyway, both because I enjoyed it, but also out of respect for my fellow raiders.
In short, what you're saying is that YOU are selfish enough to not continue raiding if YOU get loot. If this is the way "hardcore raiders" act now then I'm glad I'm not in their ranks.
Granted the issue of being forced to deal with pugs as opposed to being able to join as a pre-formed alliance is going to be an issue and I am concerned about that.
-
Opsie, I agree with you completely. I guess I should have worded it a little clearer. Because we will be unable to raid CT as a free company, you lose that enjoyment of raiding with your friends. And once that "fun" is gone, it will lead the the issues I described above. I used to run a few server pugs back 8 the day of 40 mans. And when we tried this, saying you could only get 1 piece, people just left, because they had no connection with the other raiders. That's the point I was attempting to make.
-
agree, and i made a thread about this also. What is SE doing? It seems like as many good ideas as they have, they have equally an amount of bad ones, and the bad ones are going to kill anything positive they would have contributed. IE: housing costs and extortion.. and 1 and done loot? Just a suggestion SE.. people will continue to play the game if you let them have fun, not handicap them by limiting content so severly they HAVE to play for months just to obtain something. just food for thought.
-
Like I said on Jassandra's post:
If the only rewarding thing you get from raiding and clearing content is gear, stop raiding. Gear again is not a significant game changer in this game. Does it help? Sure, minimally, but if your rotation is bad, you stand in mechanics, or dont understand your classes capabilities as a player, the gear isn't going to do anything but give you a half-second more to live. Player Skill trumps Gear.
Now am I saying you shouldn't worry about getting the gear? No, cause there are some gear checks implemented in the game and your stats reflect your performance if slotted correctly. But complaining that you won't gear on all your classes in a week with iLvl 80 gear is really sad to see that people's greed has come this far. It's always gimme gimme gimme without even thinking of the reason why a system like that is implemented.
-
Here is some food for thought, since we seem to be throwing it around:
Do you ever play a game to enjoy a game instead of getting the best items out of it? It's more rewarding when it's unsuspecting.
My FC and I have been running Coil for weeks, grabbing the loot and not a single piece of healing gear has dropped. But you don't see me on the forums complaining about the randomized system. Why? Because I heal Coil just fine in the gear I have (crafted and gemmed Healing gear / 4 Myth pieces / couple DL pieces). Between the WHM I heal with and myself we average around 850-900 HPS, which has shown to be more than plenty to clear Coil Turn 1-4. Funny thing is, the FC is always trying to say the feel bad, the healers don't have any Allagan pieces. And? I would much rather my Tanks and DPS to have it to meet the requirements, because the heals are fine.

@Nhrodes
The problem is SE has been, and is now continuing, to place extreme restrictions on being able to gear up multiple jobs because of their insistence on capping / locking out on a per character basis rather than a per job basis. At these rates, it is going to take several months to get beyond DL gear on just the 4 jobs I currently focus on. Most people I know also play multiple jobs.
In other games such restrictions wouldn't matter since you would be playing different characters. SE however gave us the ability to play multiple jobs on 1 character. But they were not up front with telling us that they were going to be constantly adding in ways to prevent you from gearing multiple jobs & that you're better off having separate characters for every job due to the caps / lockouts.
Simply implementing separate lockouts and tome caps on a per job basis, rather than character, with a job system like this would have alleviated all of these issues.
-
@Warkaiser
The problem is consumers crying to SE that they don't want to have to create multiple characters in order to play/try every class. Thus you have a single character with multiple classes. So basically you want to run content to gear 9 classes all at once? Lol. You're asking for way too much. What good is it going to do you to run 9 classes through all content and getting them geared to the teeth in a week? What then? Nothing. It gives you nothing to do. Learn a bit about business and marketing before spouting off nonsense you have clearly no knowledge about.
-
We all know about the marking and business stand point - milk the content for the money. I don't think this is the point of the thread. Some may be happy with it, some may want to be able to do whatever they want for their money per month, but I'm getting the vibe you don't understand that. Not all players want a main, they want to experience multiple jobs to their fullest potential, but once again... not sure your catching that point.
-
Hey believe me I'm all for raiding just for fun, raiding to get friends geared, and raiding for progression. But let's face it. If players have no ability to "progress" (whether it be gear upgrades, gearing an alt, vannity, etc) the vast majority simply won't do it. Sure I'd do it for fun a few times, but then it stops serving a purpose. MMOs are about progression. Without that, they cease being fun for a vast majority of people. What the thread is about it the fact that the loot lockout KILLS any chance players have of progressing. How many times would you be willing to run CT when 2/3 of the players are not your friends, leave once they get loot, and you don't even have a chance at getting loot? 2? 10? 20? Eventually, CT is not going to be new and fun. People will get their one piece and leave because they have no connection to the other 16-23 players they were FORCED to raid with.
-
You may not like this fact. And you may even be in the small minority who will not do this. But it doesn't change the fact that this will be the case for a large majority of players. Just because you personally think this is "mean" and I am a bad player for thinking it, don't change the fact that it will happen. If SE doesn't change the system, and it doesn't happen, and there aren't threads complaining about it, then I'll admit I was wrong. But I wouldn't hold your breath. Just like housing, SE is gonna have one he'll of a headache dealing with this.
-
Really? I don't get the point of the subject here? Funny.
And please tell me how it KILLS any chance to progress for players? Last I checked upgrading a piece of gear, by your posts standard Roflcoptorz is progression through gear. If they have no connection to the other players and leave, that is their choice. That is what the Duty Finder is for.
-
Yes, and my point was simply to identify the problem that duty finder groups are going to consistently face.
-
@NRhodes
You're clearly not very bright, so I will try to do dumb this down for you.
If a 1 item loot lockout for CT per week was implemented on a per job basis, rather than per character, and there being 10 pieces (just armor and accessories, assuming you have a +1 weapon relic already) per job, that is still 2 1/2 months to get all of that gear. The number of jobs you're doing it with would have no impact, it would still take 2 1/2 months. With content updates coming every few months, such a system would make sense.
With the current system of 1 per character though if you did want to gear out all 9 jobs, then youre looking at about 21 months to get full CT gear. 21 months just to be able to access 2nd rate gear for all jobs? Yeah, sounds like a great idea.
If you can't understand how ridiculous all of the lockouts on a per character basis, rather than per job, and actually think such a system results in being "geared to the teeth" in a week, you have some major issues.
-
@Warkaiser
Aww, poor baby got a nerve pinched?
Dumb it down for me? Lawl. Let me take it Barney-style for you so you understand clearly how obscenely oblivious you are with a system I call FFXIV Hooked on Phonics for Warkaiser-esque Players.
Now: If you read ANYTHING I previously posted without a short skim-through, you'd see that I mentioned quite positively that while a lot of raiding players and progression-based players have "alts" they are seldom played. Wanna know why? Because their raid team has no use for their Alts. Any child with a Kindergarten education would understand that. So tell me, what is the need with gearing them.
ALSO a tip that you missed so I will bold it and make it CAPs for you: iLvL80 GEAR IS VANITY TO MOST AND WILL BE EASILY REPLACED BY MYTHOLOGY GEAR NOW WITH THE CAP INCREASE MUCH FASTER THAN GRABBING A FULL SET OF 80 GEAR
-
Oh! And don't let me forget the handful of people who will sit back and enjoy playing all the DoW/DoM classes: You still will get your iLvl 90 gear much faster than a full set of 80 gear, dry your tears.
-
You should probably stop drooling all over yourself in a fit of rage long enough to do some VERY simple math kid. Replaced by Myth because of the new cap? You're kidding right? You're still looking at 2, almost 3 months for a full set per job.
BC gear? IF you're lucky and getting 1 sure piece per week, you're still looking at the same number as CT. Though due to RNG your average player isnt even getting 1 piece per week for their primary job. Some have been going a couple of months now and still have not gotten a drop for their main job.
Even if combining 80 and 90 gear from all 3 sources, you're still stuck around 1 month per job, and that's only IF you are actually getting a few drops from BC, which you can never be sure of.
Now please go learn how logic and basic math work, rather than spouting off nonsense before bothering to reply again. You're only making yourself look more ridiculous.
-
@Warkaiser AGAIN
Lol you're funny child. Funny that you mention or rather blame RNG. True, some classes don't get drops (i.e. my healer main) from BC. BUT one contributing factor you aren't factoring in is the fact healers, if geared for BC and mildly skilled, don't need the gear. It's just a token of appreciation honestly. If you have a group that is above a 3rd grade education level and can dodge mechanics, albeit with no lag issues, you can easily heal BC in basic DL/Relic to at a minimum T4. Oh and before you spout nonsense about gear drops for other classes, healers by far about the only ones suffering from "lack of drops" in BC.
-
Oh and since you are some wizard mathematician right now, let me clear something up for you. And I quote from you, RNG would dictate whether or not you even see a drop in CT or BC and thus seeing as though Mythology pieces are guaranteed to you via the vendor, you again would not only benefit more but gear yourself quicker in Myth gear. And thus again your pathetic attempt at trying to knock me down is all but not, though leave it to a Lalafel to always fight an uphill battle lawl.
-
I see your reading comprehension skills are now falling to about the same level as your math skills. I said "that's only IF you are actually getting a few drops from BC". Do you understand the meaning of the word "if"? It seems that you dont. Obviously if you're not getting your BC drops, Myth gear is the sure way to gear, but that only extends the time required to be fully geared, just like i mentioned. So now instead of about 1 month, due to getting gear from all 3 sources, you're getting it from only 2 sources, which only extends the time required to closer to 2 months.
It's a shame I actually need to go through explaining this to you. It's extremely simple to grasp. If it's not sinking in yet then you're way beyond any help that can be found here. I guess I could blame the education system, but I have a feeling that no education system in the world would have helped you have some common sense.
-
Oh? Because last I checked the debate began between Myth gear and CT gear. BC gear plays zero role in this aside from most people who raid regularly on a progressive team are at least half iLvl 90/95 gear and have no need for 80 gear. Silly little Lalafel, you're whining is futile.
