How many people do they think will fit in a small house? xD
100 members donating 80K might cover this, but where in the world are 100 people going to put things in THE smallest house xD

There are singular people who have many times the needed amount for that. This really isnt that big of a deal. Any FC's out there who have been actively working towards this as a goal and didnt expect it to be handed to them or sitting just fine.
I know my fc wont see a house ever at these prices...we all go to colleges and work part or full time as well, I think myself I get an avg of 10 hours of game time every 2 weeks
so ya..this isn't for the casual people by any means...I get that its to reward those who have the time...but cutting out a segment of people who enjoy the game but have real lives really puts a sour taste in my mouth
We knew we wouldn't get the "castle" but we cant even try to throw down for the small for at least 4 weeks of it just sitting on the market and even than, that's an iffy situation.
I totally get that some things shouldn't be able to be "rewarded" for casual gamers, but cutting out basic content like housing to that segment is bad business.
edit: On a side note I suppose this will force many of us to concede to the fact of maybe not having our close knit family fcs anymore (mine is the same group of people ive known for like 10 years in real life and gaming)
@PureEclipse
The content isn't cut out, just go make money, it isn't that hard. Now, if you don't want to put in the effort to get it, that's a different story, because housing wasn't cut out for people who can't play as much.
Also, in 90 days, it's going to cost 3.6 mil. If you can't get it at that point, I have no sympathy for yee.
Lots of new gil sources coming in 2.1; I'd wait for a month and see how much easier earning money will be after patch before doom n' glooming.
Worst case scenario, wait til Personal Housing and hope it's a lot cheaper. =P
I think the FC i am in may have enough but wow why so much?
I thought it first started under i million, then it was 5 million now is it truly 8 million?
@PureEclipse,
I very much agree with some of your points
I switched server to play with a fellow co-worker and just am in the process of forming a fc
so will be nowhere near that amount of gil
They're trying to even out the economy after the huge inflation from the release. Think in terms of wow, that one mount that was always a ridiculous price at the release of a expansion, then get way cheaper by the end. They need a way to pull gil out of the economy to prevent inflation for those that start later on in the game that can't raise 5 mil by the time they hit 50 and be behind in terms of money.
Emmm lots of new gil sources
lets count them
1 private message from Asdfga Asda goto somechinesesite*com some random amount of real world money for 100k gil and put in code for a 15% bonus
2 private message from Qwerty Ytrewq goto someHongKongsite*com some random amount of real world money for 100k gil and put in code for a 15% bonus
etc
etc
etc
FC gets nice shiny large House
2 days later loses said house due to RMT that got filtered thru the market on ** crafted items
DOH
Well I don't know I have never been in an MMO before that kept basic community features like housing on a more elitist scale, every mmo ive played since 99 that offered housing was affordable in some way, to me this is a true boggle...I understand its for the FREE COMPANY, but grinding gil doesn't seem to be a worthy challenge in my book of fun, more like outright boring.
Games are meant for entertainment...somewhere along the way I think people lost focus of that.
Pure did you play Asheron's Call? Best housing system of any MMO imo. I was hoping XIV was going to replicate it ;(
I'm really surprised that no FCs have jumped the gun on a small plot yet. I'll be getting one as soon as our FC is rank 6 and we have 8m or so gil.
I saw one small house bought in Limsa housing near the beach front on area 1 er whatever...that was it so far....
glad we got a lot of use out of these...
btw there is only 3 large 7 medium and 20 small per each map.....
edit- don't get the small house, its not for an fc seriously small, soon as you enter your already walking back outside, I personaly thought it would be a main room with stairs leading to a loft above....nope
small house aint nothing but a walk-in closet
I did find my happy spot tho in the Goblet...im drooling at the idea of having it be my home in about.....6 months lol
I am the owner of said small house using mostly my own personal funds to buy it for our fc.
Is it worth it? It depends on what your doing... if your a mid sized fc collecting say 1m from each person then not really, as you can see from it, it would be well to wait till 2.2 when prices are cut in half. If however you have a generous benefactor and want to do something without waiting then yes it can be worth it since what you see is ALL you get.
A large or medium house just lets you put more stuff inside and outside, thats it... no buffs, effects, specialty areas... just more space... so if you ask me a medium / large is NOT worth the current expense when your better off waiting for a large to drop 60m and a medium to drop another 30m... especially on a cash strapped server like this one where a few 1%ers like myself have mega hoarded the gil and are just sitting on it... SE was stupid in this regard as most of those that do it just like doing it and seeing their gil go up and wont release it for a house, especially when prices will drop 1/2 in only 3 months. I'd say all new housing buys will mainly come from more organized fc's that have members each pay in 500k to 2m over the next 3 months to get a house after earning gil from treasure maps etc.
I keep the house unlocked for anyone to come in so you can go look around / hangout... there's been a variety of people stopping by. If anyone wants to know yes it is just like The Sims 1.0 as far as putting items etc down.
In other news im looking for the drop from king moogle if anyone wants to give one to put a mailbox up outside ;)
Ya I saw you there, think it was you outside near the fire pit at least...saw 2 others, 1 in a hottub at the time.....
And I didn't mean to come off as nasty or anything hopefully about the small house, I just was shocked to see how small it really was...beach front is good but I dunno lol maybe as a personal house in summer....
seen a FC i think perhaps in the Mist that have a FC house. There is an option to enter and was curious
but did not enter as i did not want to be rude. Like entering while players are eating at a table or something, lol
edit. perhaps it was yours Elasia i seen with a firepit out front
Congrats on the house
Lol, thanks... but next time come on in... theres always a party going on inside and shenanigans
On another note im not sure what to think of this hyper deflation going on atm... at this rate hardly anyone will have a house at all, lots of items up for sale and few buyers due to the extreme large value thats been placed on keeping gil
So how many houses we up to now? Curiosity demands from this cat!
sidenote...last time I talked about vanya it was 110k...now its sitting around the 65k avg market rate after just like 10 days....fascinating
Well I got bored and looked for myself...ok wasn't bored...dunno how anyone can be bored in this game...take up fishing!
anyway saw 3 houses in Mist now, 1 of them is in a different instance.../boggle
the 2 next to eachother actually makes the zone feel just slightly more alive now its a nice touch.../clap to the fcs that are trying to make it work anyway
and 2 in gridania...1 of wich is a medium...I poked around, I did ask first nobody responded outside so I just let myself in..i cleaned my feet first....
its very nice on the inside although that one spot under the stairway seems odd don't it?
I didn't have a chance to check uldah today so how we doing there? any progress??
