People who recognize your character name are normally people who kind of met you. I had that happen to me today in WP. Her name was Kaitlin Nakano. Pretty cool just randomly running into someone from HS.

Errrrr... Wut?
I agree. It's nice when you get some recognition. It means you did well enough to be memorable.
Someday the name Raging Nerifes will be known.....
as the nicest guy you could ever group with :3
I used to hope for recognition, though with my low tolerance for bullshit and bad habit of leaving groups which I don't find optimal, it probably won't be good recognition, heh.
I get noticed by a few people here and there. Mostly for my work on a realm event and my helpful nature that extends to more than just my FC/LS members. It's nice, makes me feel like it is all well worth it.
I can't wait to be recognized in PvP.
Oh, wait.
"Oh Ruby! I know you, you're that white mage that keeps running out of mana!"
Im using the same name i used in FFXI.
Diabolos Server was Merged with Siren Server in FFXI. A lot of people in diabolos has recognize me. They usually ask me. Why You are playing here and not in Siren!
My answer is well. The Free Company i joined, in FFXI was Raiding 5 years without stop in Siren but now they picked diabolos i dont know why.
But yeah is Epic when the people recognize you and start talk about Awesome moments in FFXI.
It's happened to me a few times actually!
The best part is, Hellsguard Roegadyns make their names specifically to be memorable, so I think I did it right ;)
Most people recognize me from my signature move Burning Finger. It's kinda a big deal.
the nicest guy I me in game (xani faye), that day i was simply asking some information about the meld for my relic quest, he literally gave me 2 battle dance material III for free and paid for my meld.
The only thing memorable about me is some epic random bouts of herping and derpng. I'd rather not be remembered as "the moron that wiped the group becuse she stood in front of the boss" or something like that.
But it seems that being a lalafell makes me more forgiveable.
I am an unknown player so far. But doing blog posts in the lodestone, so maybe in a few months people will notice me if they read the blogs. Otherwise I don't mind being just known in the Linkshell :)
aka Stumpy ;)
People in game know/recall my IGN "Phar Phar". It's simple, easy to remember, and have had the comparison of reminding people of Pharlap.... So I have that going for me I suppose.
well, it's not too hard for people to recognize the first half of my character name. fewer people get the second half. I enjoy those who get the second half, because it tends to lead into book discussions.. I have added to my "to read" list thanks to the name :P
I recognise the odd people on my server. I shout for a lot of groups and I often see the same people a lot, kinda cool. I've also been in a couple of FCs (just trying to find the right one...) so I recognise a lot of people from the FCs I've been in. As for people recognising me, well, obviously past FC members :') and one person knew me from a Titan LS. Felt kinda famous. Even if it only was one person. Finally felt like somebody noticed how much I love helping Titan pugs. Was a warm, cosy moment.
I would think that I would get more recognition as I use the same name everywhere, but no one ever comes up to me, recognizing me from another game. D:
I had a whole anti-fan club in 1.0. Seriously, it's true. Funnily enough, none of them had ever played with me. Somehow I just became popular to hate. I think mostly it's because I'm a smart ass.
You give advice about how to play a class in regards to content that you've never successfully completed.
I've been recognized a few times. Couple people remembered me for not being a prick to people like some healers they may have had in previous runs, and offering tips and advice to duties to someone in the party that hasn't. But usually it's for my name. Someone said "Belmont! Where's your whip?" or something of the like in a DF group because of the name Richter (side note; my chocobo is Shanoa =p), another mentioned Tales of Legendia to me (took my surname from one of the characters, Chloe Valens).
Probably because of your posts on the forums. There are plenty of people that I seriously dislike just based upon their forum posts. In fact, in 1.0, after the servers merged I blacklisted several players the second the servers came up based upon their forums posts.
There's no question about that. Like I said, I'm a smart ass. TBH, I don't really care if somebody who really doesn't know me at all chooses to BL me. I don't really want to play with somebody who is so full of themselves they'd BL somebody they've never even met.
I tend to use the same name in a lot of places. I think the one I laughed the best at was the person who asked me "Hey, are you the same Kalsam as the paladin in WoW?"
Apparently the guy loved watching my solo videos on youtube. XD
I miss 1.0 where there was only one other character with my name and there was no cross-server queue. lol. (and the other character was created way after mine, too and as far as I remember they never played after about 2 months in)
people do recognize my name, but that's because they either know the song and have associations with it - or they knew someone with the name in another game (though granted that person from another game could very well be me since I used the name since UO, provided it was available. hehe)
I'ma Time Traveler. I like when people be like, "OMG! We have a Time Traveler...WHY YOU LET SERAH DIE!" XD
Hah! I noticed it right before I read this. I love the Tales Series.
My other character before I deleted it was Mint Adenade from Tales of Phantasia.
I seen a Rutee, Cheria, Pascal, Emil on my server lol.
I was recognized once after joining a fate group. The leader said, "Shadowtrek's a good healer. I've played with her before." Made my night
hehe I have people I don't know recognize me...in duty finder I had quite a few say "hey you're the cosplay girl!!" or send me inspiring tells ^^ it really brightens my day I'm so happy to meet new friends :)
My friend and I ran into a guy on our server that we hadn't seen in like 6 or 7 years that we used to play FFXI with. It was a very odd coincidence.
On another note, I always seem to get mixed up with the online personality "Orophen".
To clarify, Molly_Millions, I said if "someone" is a jerk- wasn't necessarily saying you were.
Maybe. Obviously, I post a lot, and as such keep a high profile on the forums. I speak my mind, and some people don't like what I have to say. Is that wrong? I don't think so. For as many people that dislike it, there are others that appreciate it. You can't please everyone.
Fair enough.
I didn't say I had a problem with you. I was just saying that if you had people that didn't like you and hadn't played with you they had to of had some reasons for feeling that way and it was probably due to your posts on the forums.
What's wrong with blacklisting someone you haven't "met"? If you act like a total tool on the forums (not saying you are or do) why shouldn't people blacklist you if they have the opportunity? If I don't want to see your posts on the forums I damn sure don't want to see anything you have to say in game.
