Please have Materia reside in a separate inventory tab ( like Crystals)

Inventory is already pretty pressed for many players (myself included). I don't want to speak for all players but i know myself and those i play with lug around all sorts of sets of gear and are lucky to have 20 slots free (including rets) at any moment, Materia could easily chew this away and then some. From what i have read it sounds like there will be all sorts of combinations of Materia (both affect and rank ranges), and with all these various Materia.... inventory could fill up really fast.

So please consider adding a tab to the inventory UI that stores just Materia.

It would be nice if they were in their own tab. Furthermore, if there were a better way to manage grouping them together so we don't have a long list to scroll through.

Not only materia, but our inventory as well. If we could create a way to group (folders, drop down lists?) our inventory, it wouldn't be such a hassle trying to scroll through it all the time (and it's only going to get worse as the game expands).

I would like to see the option to select an item in inventory and then choose "add to group" to make inventory management easier.
The item wouldn't go anywhere. It would still take up regular inventory, but would be visually easy to find & locate items.

I agree. Until we get some kind of storage system, it would be a pain both inventory space- and organization-wise if materia were clumped into the same list as everything else.

At the very least let them use the same inventory(not entirely preferable), but give them a dedicated tab so we can keep track of 'em easily please.

why?

when a materia is equipped to a weapon/armor, it is no longer in your inventory, and when you remove a materia from an item, it will be destroyed.... so why do you need a whole new inventory tab for it?

The same thing could be said for anything in our inventory: currency, crystals, items, they all disappear when you've used them or thrown them away, yet we have seperate tabs for them.

Well because there is the state of Materia that is not in gear nor destroyed, the Materia that is produced but not used yet. It is possible that players may have dozens of these at any given moment perhaps many dozens that are in the "not used yet state".

I definitely like the idea of another tab. Do you think the materia will be 1 unit for each slot(like armor), or will it be multiple materia for each slot(like ore).

Personally and this is just a theory, i think the amount of slots(if there are multiple) will be based on the rank and or the quality rating. It would certainly bring some luster to the lack luster armor hq's (rings for example).

If its like FF7 materia (each materia having points and growth to it) then i think it will be 1 materia per slot. If they gear it more like FF14 (items having a +1 or +2 added to them) then they could have multiple materia per slot.

Seconded. And if they insist on it being in inventory, at least double our inventory slots or something.

Based on what I have seen so far I really am expecting a few "catches" for Materia.

Catch 1- Materia will be housed in the main inventory,aka inventory nightmare resulting in 90% of the Materia i produce being thrown away/vendored, just as i do now with craft grind items.

Catch 2- Items will continue to be displayed in market searches (ward searches) without any of the details( hq rank, Materia enhancements).

I really hope neither of these are the case but just based on what I have seen in past "features" I have come to expect catches to any new feature. This isn't meant to come across as bitching, its just observing past features. I for one am super excited to see the new Materia system, classes, and new dungeon/zones.

Why would we need our inventory increased for materia? It is just like any other material. SE also said they plan to do something about dyes. That is more of a concern with the inventory space it consumes. Materia is going to go into the main inventory or possibly in the crystals, one or the other. It doesn't need its own bag.

I thought the creation of materia leads to the destruction of the equipment too? Wouldn't that materia just take up that item's space?

I want the materia to be in the shards/crystals/clusters tab.

I could go with this too if adding a new inventory tab isn't feasible.

I completly agree they should do that or make the bags bigger to fit around maybe 150-200 items cause i allready have bout 30 slots too and so matira would eat about 30 slots then we could have 100 more slots for everything that we need.

While I agree more tabs is a good thing, I don't want to see too many tabs. I'd like to see this grouped in the crystals tab and rename it something more fitting.

I'd also like to see a tab added for equipment with a cap of 100 to stop crafters exploiting it. If you want over 100 equipment the game could let you keep the extras in normal inventory slots.

I think the inventory should be redone completely anyway. Drag and drop would be a nice feature, custom tabs/groups, grouping of +1/2/3 items with expandable + etc. Could even re-instate +1/2 items from mobs with the latter.
