I just want to get this information out there, so everyone is aware. Unlike other MMO's, if you cancel your account you will NOT be able to play for the time remaining on your account. I have seen many people on this forum say you can, as any experienced MMO gamer would assume, but this is false.
My boyfriend cancelled his account, and despite having 8 days remaining, he is no longer able to log in. It gives him an error saying the service account is not active. Luckily he has no desire to play anymore, so this is not a big deal for us. I had just wanted him to log in and donate what gil he had to our FC, only to find out he can't.

err..before you cancel the account it clearly warns you, mine reads " There are 20 days remaining on this service account.
The effects of cancellation will take effect immediately, requiring reactivation to login with this account.
Do you wish to proceed?" -

BUT
If you cancel your subscription you will be allowed to continue playing until subscription time ends.
That what I think the people were talking about and got confused with. -

Were you using an automatic recurring subscription?
There's an option to cancel automatic payments, which just as effectively cancels the account. I just did it the other day. ^^ -

But he is unable to log into the game. Oh well, as I said earlier, it's not a big deal for us. I just wanted others to be aware of this, as I've seen many people saying you can continue playing until the time runs out even after cancelling.
