Behemoth FATE problem

I am just wondering what the goal is for these big FATEs and I hope i get a developer response in here..

Me (SCH) and my coil tank (PLD) just participated in the Behemoth FATE over on Ragnarok.

From the get go he had full enmity and i healed him throughout 50% of the fight til he popped off my tile and in the time trying to find him again he died.

Cos he couldn't reattain hate I just started raising randomers as a good healer should.

Reward: nothing.. not even bronze..

FATEs are encouraging bad and unhelpful play cos i guarantee if i sat their casting succor i would have got silver like the rest of my party..

sort it out SE FATE's were the worst idea you came up with for FFXIV

Find this complaint a bit hard to believe considering everyone in a party gets the same reward...

You still need to generate enough hate to be eligible for the "party reward".

Being a good healer in fates is notorious for being frowned upon for some reason. Have to dps to get anywhere. Sucks and I hate it but that's how they designed it.

I got Gold on Odin once and the healer didn't. I think that is proof enough that it isn't guaranteed same reward for the whole party.

I've had this problem as well. I'm pretty sure you have to tag the enemy at least once to get something. Because it can be tricky to actually hit him, you might have to try a few times just to be sure.

no he didn't get ANY medal is his complaint despite keeping his tank up for most of the FATE. That is indeed the result of not having actually tagged Behemoth with anything which I find silly. Any action that puts you on his enmity list should count. This may be a holdover from FFXI and the early days of Wings of the Goddess where people abused the Campaign Battles by standing at max distance and just spamming self buffs/cures and bard songs. The result was nerfing reward for buffs and heals and this continues in FFXI even now with Reives. What would be nice is if the Devs enlightened us as to the exact mechanics behind FATE scoring and why they're set up the way they are because right now healers get screwed.

I think FATE participation breaks down into two points: Your group's participation, and yours.

As far as I can tell, it's somewhat erratic.

There have been times I have ran FATEs in Cerulean Processing Plant and used Scathe on the Ahriman boss and achieved gold reward because my party had been beating on him for several minutes, but other times on Gorgimera my group was late and attacked for a good minute or so, only to get bronze for myself and silver for the rest of the group.

Healing just exposes this problem more easily it seems. I had a healer participate in the full Dark Devices line and healed people, but received bronze on every single segment.

It's all speculation, so maybe it's something related to damage or threat.

I have to wonder the same thing. Odin just popped on our server, and no melee could even target him because every SMN in the area did nothing but spam Shadow flare continuously for the entire fight. You can't turn off the graphics for that skill, and people were shouting at them to stop. Considering that they were laughing about it, and just kept spamming, it's pretty clear that they were doing it to antagonize people. We lost at 1%, since no one could build up a limit break.

How can you not consider that griefing?

He's not complaining about FATEs in general, He's complaining about the mechanics(Or specifically, the reward scale) of a single FATE, in this case Behemoth (and by extent Odin really), being designed so poorly that by performing your job (notoriously for healers) you are rarely rewarded because the bars are set so high your only chance of getting a Bronze/Silver is to spam DoTs or AoE cures. It's pretty bad, and has been the center of many complaints since Behemoth fight itself is a large pile of being one-shotted by invisible attacks, so much so that getting even a silver is feat in itself unless you're on very particular jobs.

Thankyou for the guys defending my OP lol.. seriously i had second thoughts about posting a legitimate non QQ complaint on here cos of all these fools that seem to appear..

I did read someone say i would have had to tag behemoth to get onto his hate chart, i did however do this as i <tt> casted virus on him.. and this wouldnt make sense anyway cos to get on any other mobs hate chart all you have to do is heal..

it's a shame really.. maybe next time i will succor spam while standing on the bodies of all the dead blizzard II faters lol

ps. No not everyone in the party gets the same reward to the people who replied with that too.. the tank got silver
