Can we make Chocobos/Airships a priority?

-Each time I teleport somewhere, I am reminded of the scenery I missed along the way, and that I could have taken that route on a chocobo.

-Every time I teleport to a different city, I am reminded that the airship dock is sitting there unused, and a trip that would have been GRAND on an airship! But instead is done instantly, by teleporting...

-Whenever I teleport to a camp, I am reminded of Hola Mea and Dem. My Conjurer dies a little inside.

-Whenever I return, I am reminded of Warp, and wonder why my Thaum doesn't have it.

-Whenever I want to travel the world and see scenery, I walk, and for this I am ashamed.

but the scenery is to boring to look at anywho i'd rather skip it, my issue lies with hardly any anima.

If I ride a chocobo or an airship, I'd like to have something to do when I get to my destination.
That's why new transportation options aren't top priority.

Riding a chocobo or an airship IS something to do.

I agree, as much as I want Chocobo/Airships for my life, without something to use them for other then getting to a camp faster, not really a point.

Now when Dungeons/encampments/Companies are in the game Yes by all means stick them in there. I'm quite find with running to my destination for now. However, I really do want them to put them in by years end. but from the Letter X from the Producer we will get it this Summer so im not complaining

Yup, I'd like to have a chocobo for this. or either when I'm at camp horizon and dont wanna spend the 1 anima I have to go to Nophica's Well, I rather spend 1k or even 3k for a chocobo ride.

I played FFXI.

Airship rides were a good time to go afk.
Chocobos weren't a particularly interesting alternative to running - they were just faster and allowed you to avoid aggro. They'll probably even break the rank 34 story quest ( there's poor planning for you ).

And thus Conj would have teleports to certain camp. Eg: Holla Mea Dem.

After we complete the base aspects of gameplay maybe.

Why not?

What's different about the other Aetherites that would prevent magical teleportation? And why doesn't that difference prevent anima teleportation? And how is that restriction more "casual-friendly"?

And on the topic of making things casual friendly,

Why do we even have levels?
The devs need to shape up and remove all levels and give everyone all abilities,

because it REALLY isn't casual friendly to have to level up.

Two different components, considering the pressure they're under I'd say if anything, Chocobo's would be a great priority, then introduce airships in the near future.

We're getting it before the end of summer.

There are three months to go of summer.

By extension, we're getting it in the next three months.

In the next three months we'll see 1-3 patches (probably 2).

We'll get horsebirds in the next 2ish patches. What more could you ask for?

The implementation of chocobos will go something like this:

Players: "Cool we got chocobos!"

Players ride around on chocobos for an hour

Player A: "Let's go do some leves"

Player B: "OK. Got my leves."

Player A: "All right. Teleporting to BW."


Chocobos will only serve as a backup to anima in XIV. When people run out of the TP juice, the chocos will come out. Unless, they have another purpose... Which is probably why they have hinted at chocos doing something more than just transporting our sorry butts and also why they probably aren't in yet.

Levels ARE casual-friendly. Casuals like to feel like they're accomplishing something, and occasionally seeing those numbers go up achieves that.

They'll come, eventually.

I can't wait to see Chocobos. Especially if we are able to dress them up and come in different colors. I want a black chocobo with gold plate armor. I also hope we can name them. Quality over quatity for me baby

I think that could be easily fixed.

With everyone hooked on a simple transportation system, what SE does is introduce some sort of crazy world event where all the Aetherytes suddenly break and the mysterious aetheric mist no longer crystallizes. Panic rises through the population of Eorzea, once docile creatures turn feral, attacking anyone in sight, and the heralds begin proclaiming that the end of days is near.

The campaign to restore the Aetheryte and explain the cause behind these strange events introduces chocobos and airships into Eorzea. New zones are added that are only accessible by these new forms of travel, as the aetheric mist is incapable of crystallizing so close to these anomalies that have sprung up.

Once you have defeated the big bad, the Aetherytes start to reform slowly, but are forever changed. Now it requires more anima the further away from the city you're trying to teleport. Since the anomalies still exist, albeit in a weakened form, they continue to interfere with teleportation.

By making it less reliable than before, either by randomly costing a few more anima than normal or just occasionally being unable to teleport you, like a bad storm blowing in from the horizon. You can either wait out the storm, or catch a bird or airship to your destination.

I agree with OP on this one. I think mages should be the ones with potential to teleport/warp. It was a huge way to make money and it was another way to get gil pulsing around the community to different people other than the AH/MW. I like the idea of getting rid of Anima. Classes should have more importance on the world. I simply don't understand why a Marauder can self-teleport.

They should be abilities that can't be shared on different classes, so you have to actually switch to the correct class to be able to do it. Make it so Conjurer has Warp and Warp II which sends you back to your previous Aethyrte Crystal, and give THM's the ability to travel to different Aethyrte.

I don't want to turn FFXIV into FFXI-2, but I think this is something in the game that is needed once Airships and Chocobos are released. Hell, I even miss the Holla, Mea, and Dem crags. They were so epic to look at even after 6 years of playing. They were a landmark in a huge zone and always a place to find a chocobo when you needed one.

Sure, Seeing the copy/pasted scenery from your Chocobo's back is going to turn this game around. There's no way the battle system, classes, dungeons, quests, leaves and the UI are more important then riding on a chocobo's back... And 11 people hit like? Really?

Well, I don't think Choco's and Airships should be priority over the battle systems, I just think it will definitely help once they're finally in the game after all that. Here's to hoping for a new and fixed game..just need to add more NPCs now to give the game more life.

Personally I find teleporting all over the place to be one of the WORST aspects of this game.

Even worse than a lack of auto attack.

Those are pretty much on the same level for me lol but now I know they are adding auto-attack so I can just hope they'll get rid of the Anima system post choco/airships.

Ya one can only hope, this game does way too much hand holding and spoon feeding. Coming from XI i almost fell in to shock at how easy this game was lol. This is what could be defined as FAR too casual.

I'm in no way attacking your beliefs or opinions, but rather really curious to know why some people genuinely dislike the teleport/anima system, is traveling a part of your experience you consider fun? Not to be mistaken with adventuring and discovering new locations. That's a different sort of excitement, but when you feel you've reached endgame and experienced most areas, wouldn't you appreciate the convenience of the teleport system?

I do genuinely find traveling and exploring fun.

Even though some of the "landscape" is repetitive, the textures, lighting, mountains, ocean, music and monsters roaming around is enjoyable to me. I would like to experience it on an airship (from above) or on a chocobo, instead of running around on foot dodging aggro.

Now that I have all mele/mage jobs at 50, I find teleporting all over the place rather un-enjoyable.

I don't enjoy crafting like I do killing monsters.
So when I log in now, I find the only thing to do is my leves on 1 star for the faction credits, or craft.

I just don't like it because it's like extreme hand holding. You would think I would love it since I'm usually a DoW class, and getting around quickly is nice, but at the same time it just feels like an over-all cheap system that doesn't really offer anything to the game. I've never thought of the anima system and been like "oh man, that's totally awesome!"
