Crystal Tower easier than coil?

I think not.

A lot of the game itself is actually easy. It is player difficulty which makes it hard. Let me specify, mechanics are simple, predictable and have patterns, when people don't see them or can't learn them it becomes hard.

Coil is designed to be an 8 player encounter, where in many occasions if one player messes up, it could lead to a wipe.

Now imagine content with 24 players, where the odds of a mess up are higher, would you like the same "difficulty" level?

Would you like to wipe because the 4th bard missed a silence rotation? Or 1 tank dc'd? Kill 23 other players due to the mistake or misfortune of 1?

Personally I am glad CT will be "easier" than coil. Coil is very unforgiving, and I would not like to see that, at least not yet, as the first 24 person encounter.


We've already practiced with 4 people through most of the game, 8 on CM, Prae, and Hard Primal Fights, so we were ok with it in Coil. Imagine how much harder coil would have been if it was the first 8 player encounter?

Just think of this 1st Crystal tower patch as the groundwork for what is to come. I'm not saying it will be easy like our first 8 player encounters (which a lot of people still had a hard time with) I'm thinking it will be more like a 24 player version of Garuda and Titan then it leads up to a "difficulty" like coil.

Prepare yourselves, it might just be the most difficult content you have faced yet. Good luck Pre-made coil groups teaming up with 16 randoms, Good luck! If the Duty Finder Rage quitters have taught anyone anything, this will be a long and difficult ascend up to the Crystal Tower.

If I recall correctly, Crystal Tower was described as having 3 parties working together to complete a single goal but each of those parties will have their own part of the goal and therefor don't actually actively participate in the same puzzle as each other. One party in wing 1, one party in wing 2, one party in wing 3 helping each other progress in each of their own wings or something.

It will have both, it will have full 24 player encounters and occasions where they will separate the three parties.

They probably make it easy enough that you can have a lot of people screw up and still win. They aren't going to have hard tuning like in coil.

When they said they were rebalancing it, I think they were removing personal responsability.

It'll probably be like Titan... tank shall tank, healers shall heal, attackers shall attack, while getting out of red lines. But easier, since it needs just level 55 gear instead of AK and some DL.

Easier than titan? Titan can be done in ilvl 55 gear.

It can be done in ilvl55 gear Yep ( I did it at that ilvl but nearly got my butt handed to me), even in Full Darklight Titan is a handful. Only the people with ilvl 90 gear have a "Cushion" to go by.

ilvl55 for Crystal tower is bare min. armor. Full Darklight will probably be the Recommended.

Yeah, people take the min. gear requirement a bit too much to heart. It's the bare requirement. Probably just enough so you aren't a burden to the party, but not ideal.

Truth to be told, the same gear could produce very different results in the hands of different people.

With all Relic+1 and DL gear parties, same tank and same pulls, the completion time could differ by as much as 30%. So I'm not surprised if some people with full DL could only perform as well as some others in iLv55.

Crystal Tower will be easier than Binding Coils, that's just how the content was designed in the first place. How it performs relative to Titan HM, though, we won't know until the 17th.

It'll be easy and is easier than coil - The guy who makes this game even said it's content that was designed to be ran before coil. You can't realistically argue against the one who makes the game you play. In comparison, it's like saying BCNM 20s in FFXI is harder than Naakauls.

I'll say this much: Given how gimmicky SE made XIV's encounters, it'll only be tough when no one knows how to clear stuff in one go if it has a lot of gimmicks, i.e kill the Elementals on the platforms while standing on the blue panel - It sounds easy but the playerbase SE targets isn't exactly known for listening to directions.

I read your post OP and the only thing i am hearing you say is.

Because of Duty Finder and Rage Quitters CT will be too hard to complete.

There is nothing good about 2.1 we should all just quit this game because it's not getting better it's getting worse.

I agree.

Difficulty depends on gear, and experience. Coil is easy if you have 90 gear, and experience.
And even WP seems difficult for some ppl in ilv90 gear.
So CT being easy or hard is just a personal perspective.
I still find it really funny when people are talking about how easy it is, when they haven't even been there...Like OMG Behemoth in Coerthas is much harder than King Behemoth in CT....
Anyways, CT is going to be like Titan pug, but worse; cause then it's potentially 24 rage-quitters, instead of just 8. LUCKILY it's DF though, so you can replace quitters. But generally rage-quitting is a chain reaction, and more times than not, probably the whole alliance will drop out.
So probably item lock-out wont matter, cause no one will get anything until next year anyways haha.

DF will be what makes CT more difficult than BCoB.

Ungeared? I doubt.
Only if they take down their gear after they entered CT.
