Auction House is Bogus

I hate the Auction House it doesn't have a use but to buy more expensive things than just what you can buy in the npc stores. This is the only mmo I have seen that doesn't allow buying and selling of green and purple items on the auction house. To you developers you should take a lesson for other mmos and allow green and purple on the auction house. Learn from other MMOs please just please allow them on there for people to have help and can spend the money why must you do this.

Selling items that are drops from high level dungeons is only a bad idea.
Those item are earned.
Also, it would open up opportunities for the RMT.

Dzemael Darkhold green gear can be sold in the Market Boards. Though not a top level dungeon, at 44 to enter it is a fairly high level one, with only Aurum Vale between it and the level 50 dungeons.

The idea, though, that other MMO's have behind selling that higher level gear is simple : it allows someone who leveled up in lower level areas to obtain gear that would allow them to adventure in the higher level areas and get even better gear from them. Having top level gear drop in dungeons only to be sold on the board is silly. Having gear drop from a somewhat lower level area, so that people can sell it to those who need it so that the buyers can then use that gear to get better gear makes a lot more sense.

That said - if you want dungeon gear, rather than crafted gear, go get it yourself! Patch 2.1 will, by increasing the experience found in dungeons, make them at least competitive with FATEs, if not better. That will increase the people running them and decrease the time spent waiting for a healer or a tank to queue up for it. Even now, before then, dungeons are a lot more fun than the boring, repetitive FATE grinds.

BTW - "RMT" is a term I'd not heard until Squeenix used it, though I don't know who they got it from. It stands for "Real Money Transactions" and refers to the purchase of goods, money, and/or services in a game for real money. Buying/selling gil is against the rules, as is buying a powerlevel, or paying someone to log into your toon to run you through the Relic quest. Technically, those people selling Titan HM runs for the Relic quest are not violating the prohibition on RMT, as they sell the runs for gil, rather than real cash.

Also, you can buy all of the green 2* crafted weapons and armour on the market boards.

Also, this is not an Auction House at all, it's a Market Board, which is basically just a list of player bazaars. It's just the old Market Ward system from 1.0 streamlined into a list for easy searching. You're not bidding when you buy an item on the Market Board, hence you can't overbid or underbid on an item - you pay the actual amount asked by the seller.

It's a holdover from 1.0, which had an actual Market Ward which was an instanced zone where player retainers physically stood around with their bazaars and players had to physically run from retainer to retainer manually to buy things. It was a convoluted system that was gradually tinkered with, until the final result of the Market Board in ARR.

The iLevel 90 gear from places like coil serves no purpose unless you are running coil.

then where would it leave crafting? I mean seriously? If anything these games should be expanding areas of play. Untradeable gear is good for the economy, it also makes crafting much more viable long term. On my lancer I've picked up a lot of untradeable gear that I couldn't use if I could of put it all up for sale these items would be dirt cheap which would also drag down the price of crafted items. I just don't understand a lot of changes people propose, the only people who would benefit from this are people who use RMT and RMT themselves, the economy would suffer.
Everyone MMO I have ever played did not allow high end gear to be traded, also it makes the gear worth less and not really much of accomplishment, I mean, it doesn't say you did anything, just you had the $ to buy it, it would also result in cookie cutter classes gear wise, which I already find FFXIV has too much of.

lol seriously? What other MMOs have you played if you have no idea what RMTs are? I have only played 3-4 MMOs and every one had non-sellable items. Although, the color scheme in most is different from this one.

RMT = Real Money Trader

People/Companies farm items and acquire gil then sell the gil to players through external websites using real $$. Which is against the EULA everyone accepts to play the game.

I also believe it is save to assume that condescending white knights will always pester people that give reasonable responses.

Considering the guy started out trying to establish he's an MMO veteran or something, the laughter was very, very well justified.

I did not know what RMT was either, but I have played Evercrack (oops Everquest) and WoW. The reason I did not know what the acronym meant, is I never participated in such activities. Thanks for the education

The reason for removing such items from the markets boards is because of games like Ragnarok Online. Where high-end, low drop rate items could be put up for sale. A small portion of the community would farm these and funnel them to the public. At first they were expensive and then they eventually would saturate the market. A newer player who was good at playing markets could obtain the best items in just a few minutes because these items were tradeable and cheap. The player would not have to do anything to progress is story or the story of the MMO world.

The idea of soul-bound and restricting endgame items also has to deal with progression of the community. In any mmo a majority of the community has to be a certain point before new progression content is added. If only small portion sits in the progression content and everyone else sits in the market board, there would be no reason for any MMO to give people new progression content because the majority of the content hasn't even been completed.

In a logical sense, how do you save the world from chaos 2 years later in progression if you didn't even save it the first time. There really shouldn't be progression because the world wasn't actually saved the first time. When the world needed your help, you and the majority of the community, sat at the market boards.
