I admit I did enjoy alot his quets and found him a funny and interesting ncp that gave 1.0 much life

He's going to add much needed comic relief to XIV just like he did in 1.0. can't wait!

Aw, I feel like I'm totally missing out.. I'm new to FFXIV (I've been playing ARR since beta, but never played version 1.0) So can anyone fill me in on this Hildibrand guy, and what he's all about, what he does, what his quests are like etc? <3

Hildribrand was just "added" and even the Devs said that they never expected him to become THIS Popular.

Hildibrand is awesome... period!

His quests are absolutely hilarious, I suggest you look up his quest line from 1.0
Prepare your gut though, you're going to be laughing pretty non-stop.

It's also important to note that the spear Nashu finds comes from Neal Van Darnus after you defeated him in the 1.0 story line (still the hardest fight to be introduced in FFXIV to date)

Honestly, Hildibrand was the only part of the trailer to put a smile on my face and get me jumping up and down with excitement.

Haha, seriously though, yeah he is pretty dopey, but that's the attraction - he brought some much needed lightheartedness to what was becoming an increasingly jaundiced setting. Every time he opened his mouth I burst out laughing. Nashu on the other hand though, really was ridiculously dumb, at least Hildy tried to be competent even though he was anything but! :p

I wish they would use older final fantasy characters instead. As an old school ff1 to ff9 player, I have no idea who this is. I'm sure I'm not alone feeling this way.

...Really? I don't even know what makes Kefka so special. He didn't destroy the planet, he just rearranged the continents.

Ex-Death Reunited two planes of existence back into one.

Sephiroth destroyed a solar system. (This counts if you are gonna say Kefka destroyed the planet and it's still there)

Technically Kefka beat Caius to 'FF villain who succeeded in his plans' years ago, and didn't need some stupid shtick about 'having the heart of Chaos' or some rubbish. Kefka was evil for evil's sake, destroyed his world halfway through, scattered the pesky heroes and ruled like a God for over a year. Greatest villan ever. ;)

Actually kefka was defeated by terra and co. Caius tricked noel to unleash the power of chaos, and the irony he still alive.
