L2 + R2 = third cross bar menu
l2 + r2 is not being used y not ?
It's going to be added.
L3 + R3 would could be another bar too.
Did they show how this would work in a video? The translations and explanations still got me confused.
they say this way
L2(first) + R2 = third crossbar
R2(first) + L2 = forth crossbar
Third? Fourth?
So I currently use "Two Cross hotbars"?
Wait.. kinda makes sense now. lol
this would be cool.
will work on PS3/4 but it wont work with xinput on windows unless they can figure out how to make the game still acknowledge the single analog axis for the triggers(L2+R2) from both ends(both triggers pressed at the same time force the axis centered or untriggered), so that would be a bummer for xinput controller users.
Sounds confusing.
R1 + L2 for 5th bar
R2 + L1 for 6th bar
actually any combination can become a bar

where there's a will, there's a way
good lord, a delayed press in the fashion of L2 then R2 would be confusing in a heavy fight, and there is no need. L2+R2 is plenty enough for a third hot bar. People need to learn how to use macros -.-
let me look up what minagawa says...

Has anyone used a PS4 controller on PC yet? :X I use a 360 pad and I'm getting tired of it.
Quoting from another thread that was quoting from another thread :D
To make the DualShock 4 work 100% on PC, you have to manually edit the FFXIV.cfg file located in My Documents\My Games\Final Fantasy - A Realm Reborn. Make a copy first if you wish, then ctrl+f and replace every instance of "alias" with this code:
Alias {90,91,88,89,41,40,32,33,73,72,48,49,3,2,1,0,4,6,10,5,7,11,9,8}
....
It worked perfectly for me. (no need to install any shady third party bullshit)
And for those PS3 players - just hook the PS4 Controller to Your PS3 and it works like a PS3 controller (no touchpad and PS Button doesnt work - I use the ps button on my keyboard, otherwise You need a regular controller for the PS Button)
And this is why I wish they would have used a controller setup more like Tera's instead of what they have now. It's utterly useless.
Hold down nothing (OMG what a concept!) for the first setup.
Hold R1 for the second.
Hold L1 for the third.
Three full customized setups should be enough for every job. Add in separate crossbars (like I have to do now because have to switch is a pain in the ***) if you need them. They really screwed the pooch on this.
Once you get into the habit of doing the R1 + [button] shortcut for anything other than moving to the next page in a cycle it's fine. And honestly L2 + R2 would just confuse me more. You only need to hold R1 for a split second, and doing it mid-GCD is the best way to do it. In fact playing a SMN/SCH (especially the latter) you pretty much have to learn it that way or else slow down your effectiveness. Unless you can very quickly and precisely tap R1 the exact number of times to shuffle to the bar you want.
You can change which skills You scroll through with R1 and wich are ignored in the options.
You can also change the rotation of this for weapon sheathed and drawn seperately.
You could put crossbars with porting, riding, and social emote stuff on Your weapon sheathed rota, while only having combat related stuff on Your weapon drawn rotation.
There is a good youtube video that instructs You how to do so, don't remember the link though, sorry.
Unfortunately due to ps3 limitations holding l2 +r2 will switch to a different hotbar and not actually add a 3rd hotbar in between the ones we already have. I dont like having to switch between hotbars during a fight. I want to see all my coolodowns on one hotbar. I use a 360 controller on pc, I wish we could at least get it with all 24 skills for L2, R2, L2+R2 shown on screen at the same time on the pc UI. Please dont hold me back because of ps3 memory limitations.
like the sound of the OP
I play with a 360 controller on PC (Mouse and Keyboard felt weirdly sluggish in this game for me...). As a Dragoon, I use about 24 buttons, though only 16 regularly. The abilities that are situational go into the second bar and I simply press R1, use the ability, then R1 to go back to my main bar. This can be done while on the run in a split second. I also changed it in the settings so only these two bars will show up when my weapon is drawn. This way, I don't switch to bars that are useless for combat.
Well since you are talking about the gamepad sets and etc I wanted to ask you something. As you know we can select which sets to be visible during the fight, usually are 2 sets so we just press R1/RB quick and go to set 2 and set 1 back again. So far perfect, but there is a major issue when you use a pet class... when I go smn or sch the R1/RB will switch between set 1 and pet set instead showing set 1 +2 + pet. It force me to hold R1/RB to and press circle/B to go to set 2 and then triangle/Y to return to 1 again. It is kinda annoying when you want to move fast or maybe I need to get used... My solution as it is now is to have least used skills or less important in set 2 while have all core important skills in set 1 so barely need to change.
So do you know or find a way to be able to switch between set 1 and 2 and pet without having to hold R1/RB?
8 crossbars with 16 slots each
You can place a normal hotbar for important cooldowns with the PC UI and PS4 UI.
I do it here with a macro.
/crosshotbar change 2 to switch to bar 2 and /crosshotbar change 1 to switch to bar 1. I use this 2 macros on pet class to switch between crosshotbar 1 and 2 and R1 to switch to pet crossbar and back.
I just disabled the pet hotbar (it is in the config) and stuck the pet actions on the regular hotbar.
You can't customize the pet hotbar and it messes with the R1 cycling so it is useless IMO. SCH and SMN both use only a few of the actions anyway.
Same here, first thing i did when trying pets was to disable pet hotbar. Its horrible.
Ya thats what I do now. I would just prefer to have all 24 skills on one hotbar and not have to switch. Playing DRG on a controller is hectic enough as it is without needing to change between hotbars all the time. No matter how I arrange my skills or use macros (drg cannot macro their combos, huge dps loss) 16 slots just isnt enough. 24 would be perfect.
I don't know about you guys but I find using L2 and R2 tiresome on the hands. About a month into the game I got the bright idea to flip it around and now use L1 and R1 for hotbars. Much MUCH gooder better... etc.
slight problem with this, the controller already does things without pressing any triggers, d-pad(crosspad to some of you) selects things on your screen. and the buttons also do things like auto attack, jump, bring up map, back
your idea is nice but it wouldnt work unless another button was used to allow those functions
It does, but it really isn't. I prefer using a controller to mouse&keyboard--especially on fights like Titan, where being able to quickly and precisely move around is of utmost importance.
I use a PS4 controller on the PC. Other than some initial frustration until I saw how to edit the ffxiv.cfg file, it's great. One downside is the battery seems to drain pretty quick when using it on the PC compared to the battery life you get using a PS4 controller with a PS4. It's probably just lack of decent driver support, which will hopefully get taken care of at some point.
