Wrong game, i guess. Or i may say wrong genre?
Ye, except if you're on a Coil group , noone will give 2 damn about you, on this game.
No, it's not socially oriented at all. You can do your own fc joining an LS for chitchat if you truly need a chat , logging for a few hours until bored, not even feeling any problem.
It's like play Skyrim, you know.
Add now how the mmo western community turned up lately. Wierdos, jerks of various degree without any form of respect to anyone and go free, exploiters (cheaters), speedrunners, elitist spoiled brats who just want the quick drop..
do i have to continue?
Change genre, give up your hopes something is gonna change
I honestly feel like the weekly limit/time gating is to blame for this. This is the only MMO that I've played where people are so impatient and ''gimme gimme'' to where they will do speed runs or belittle others, cancel plans without alternatives or just flat out quit party/fc/ls so they can find one to 'provide' for them. :/
You gonna help me get that loot, oh u arent? peace.
Or you could try joining an fc filled with friendly, non-entitled people.
It's how MMOs today are designed. They promote the fast food culture. You do it now, get it now; short sessions, quick rewards.
A lot of people are really in it for "me" and not for the FC/LS or anything. To them, other players are really nothing more than NPCs for them to use to obtain their own goals.
Try to find a good FC of people who aren't overly obsessed with getting loot or getting everything done "now". As mentioned before, the "speedrun" culture/mentality of this game is a big contributor to this problem as well.
i dont want reply at first but still..
What do you ppl mean elitist ? Knowing your class ,what stats are important (and more importantly why!!! ) ?? For example can you tell my why you using DPS ring (band of casting) ?? It give you only determination what is pretty good stuff for WHM but inteligence and accu give you nearly nothing... You can use any single "gray" ring with mind and piety then you will got much more then that (sure its not shiny blue).
Its that elitism or am I just jerk brat who want that things go smooth ?in my eyes im someone who spend his time for constructive criticism trying to help you.
oh, the 2nd DL ring you saw on my profile haha. :D
Shrugs, i guess i had some tomes to spend. Bough long ago, i didn't plan to work on alts leveling them, i was sure i was going to be whm for long. Then..meh.
Ye, bough because of determination i guess. If i need to run serious content, i switch that ring with a more appropriate one :)
An example of nowadays elitist? When someone talks about "min max or kick, fullgear or kick, let's do it quick, get the loot, cya next" (fast food mentality) , when someone doesn't perform on his perfect performance doing a speedrun and get yells and offensive language on queue, when he wasn't planning any speedrun at all lol.
The "smooth" you was talking about.
Elitism nowadays is an attitude focused on "overperformance is the only thing that matters". Some call it hardcore gaming (lol..)
I may tell you a story of the past:
long time ago, be an elite player meant work hard on your skills ingame, learn more and more about the game to the deepest every day (mostly to HELP others and the feeling of "knowledge is power") , work hard on your gear (with that knowledge) then be worthy to wear it.
Learn a fight trying more and more (and more), bound to a guild leader passing you tips looking at him as a mentor. That mentor was "elite" , that guy "who knows his stuff"
That guy was digging up new talents, give them a try, from the sand to the glory.
A player committed to his groups, his group committed to him. A strong online friendship with avatar names, looking forward to get something special , something just a tiny number of player can wear, something his guild will get working together, with passion.
(mind me, i find fun when i see players wearing allagan sets, talking about "strong FC bounds, we worked hard on it" , then the guy next to him has the same set, got with a random pug of players he never met again? :D )
Noone would use inappropriate language to other guildies just because maybe phone rang and didnt do a crit, everyone working together to a great big goal for the group. Laughing if wipe happened.
No ragequit being a douche. Leave a guild (here called FC) was a pain, real sadness.
"Help others truly matters", it made your name.
I have those memories from the past on an other game
Do this game and the actual community sounds anything similar to you?
You don't need friends or an FC to accomplish anything. Being greedy / an ass gets you things faster and gives you no real negative feedback.
There are some close knit communities within the game... But as the game doesn't require chemistry or teamwork in any form it isn't exactly the norm.
This game is still too new.
My FC has over 100 people. We lose like 1-2 every few weeks, but have still been steadily gaining more than we lose. I don't expect things to change much until well after 2.1 when people get a feel for what this game is. Right now it's still just a gloried trial, and most people have no idea where things are going.
I've also had some members ask to come back.
People always think the grass is greener. Truth is, shiny coil groups might look good from the outside, but most aren't sustainable in the long run (once people get the gear (or don't get the gear) they want ect.)
I will agree that the way XIV is currently setup hugely favors 8 man play. I'm hoping housing changes that some.
Its modern day ignorance. A RL frind played this game with us, we gave him soooo much help, crafts/armor/dungs.. etc well one day i turned to him and said NO I'M BUSY. He left the FC and LS we had and said fine i'll find a FC that is willing to help.
Moral of the story, put yourself first as 99% of people don't give a damn.
Well thats typical.. if someone point something you ppl usualy say..aah that didnt matter etc.. the turth is every single point matter in any MMORPG who scales with stats.
If you dont plan alts then you can farm mats to craft your ilvl 70 crafted ring, meld materia, tihis way you will be contributing to your FC as possible..
Yep pretty sounds like our FC.. but you know we still didnt kill twintania because we diminish our best players for large scale to allow 3 groupes farm T1-T4 so as many as posible players can get to the coil.. and now working on 4th grp
You havent that awesome FC ?? Then Why ?? What did you bring to the table ? Did you help your FC member being a better so other 7 ppl wipe on titan everytime when your newone dies that he can learn something and dont be just carried up ?
Teon you keep saying the community changed for the worse, and everyone is just being elitist etc, all I see from you is complaining about how the game and the community in it is bad.
I cannot agree with you at all, could it be that it's actually you who changed for the worse with that attitude of yours and you actually avoid people alltogether by putting up said attitude making them not want to play with you?
I might be wrong but you just seem so bitter...
I'm on a loner FC, everyone moved out during free transfer or left , not so bad, i got bank slots for mats :)
I group up for coil with various JP LS i joined, and i joined a nice eng LS for chit chat and group up if needed, nice peeps :)
Believe me, if you are on the kind of FC i described, and every member fits, you are very very lucky. It's rare nowadays, stick on them as long as possible :) (question is: do everyone on that fc will stick with you too? )
That's what we are talking about: how rare is nowadays form an FC like this one, and why the OP did this thread, disappointed.
Ye, i help when needed, titan included, relic raids, anything. Giving tips if i detect something he may fix (try this skill , face the boss on the left blah blah) Natural attitude :)
Can you believe me all i am on my account is pugged with random JP players? :) (on monday before the reset i pugged twintania with players i never met, go figure)
You surely misunderstood my attitude, i'm quite helpful , who met me is happy to meet me again on pugs :)
I'm being realistic, and i'm not alone on this opinion, i hope i wasn't misunderstood about my personal attitude ingame :)
