Are there any plans to impliment full-screen alt-tabbing?
I use two AMD 5850's in xCrossfire and the only way that this can be enabled is in full-screen, but the trade-off in the loss of alt-tabbing makes this an annoying choice!
With the huge amount of ways that people communicate whilst online and the need for players to be able to nip in and out of game for research etc, an option to enable alt-tabbing would be appreciated (although I know this is not likely to be the top of anyones to-do list)!

It would be a simple fix, SE. Change the program for windowed mode so the window is rendered with no title bar or border.
You know, like every other PC game made in the past 15 years. :D -

First of all, thanks to SE for inproving the game experience with updates.
Yes, an alt+tab function would be a very nice addition for the full screen feature, because most players want to use other programs (internet browser, etc.) to make researches, get help or to communicate via other programs.
I also think that this function would not be really hard to develop. -

Yes please. Please add a totally working full screen mode and a windowed full screen mode (a windowed mode maximized without any border allowing for quick alt-tab), like many other game do. Having to play in an ugly windowed mode (or use external tools) is really a downer.

i also would welcome a alt+tab/alt+esc function in fullscreen mode.
my pc is a bit on the weak side so the game runs alot better in fullscreen but i have to abandon looking stuff up on the net to do that which kinda sucks. -

The ability to switch between window and full screen is an absolute must-have. I want to play full screen to see the beautiful graphics. But I also need to switch out to respond to chat requests, or do a search on the web. The game crashing whenever an application shows a popup, which is beyond my control, is unacceptable.
Every other game supports it, so I don't see any excuse why this game shouldn't. -

This is definitely the most wanted improvement for me, above any gamplay stuff. I want to play fullscreen and alt-tab to my desktop without crashing the game all the time. Please Square Enix, fix this as soon as possible.
Edit: Yes, this must be proper fullscreen and not some borderless window fake fullscreen mode, SLI/Crossfire users rely on it. -

I agree with this i don't understand how we don't have alt,Tab for FFXIV i can understand for FFXI but FFXIV should have had this from the start of the game. This should have been added around Beta days. I would SE could take the time and add this too there list of stuff to do.

When they did add windower to FFXI it was too late the Damage was done. Top of that the windower for FFXI lack you lost way to many FPS vs the 3 party tool. It's just sad that the player base could make a better windower then SE team could.Quote:

This is the biggest technical gripe I have with the game. The game should NOT crash when alt-tabbing out of full screen mode. I use a crossfire setup on my desktop which only runs properly if the game is in a real full screen mode. Running in windowed mode causes the card the second card to just sit idle. I take a good performance hit because of this.
Additionally since I have two monitors if I use the mouse and overshoot the XIV screen and click on the second monitor I also crash out since it looses focus.
Its unacceptable that this happens. -

I have been wanting Alt-Tab functionality in full screen since the game was released. I hate being forced to stay out of full screen so I can use my PC. I hate even more that my second graphics card cannot be used because of this.

they REALLY need to impliment this now. I just found out Crossfire mode for multi-GPU only works properly in full screen ><. If i cant get full power out of my processors and still use my translator to talk to my friends........ i'll cry!!!

It is a shame they have yet to learn how to make a full screen that you can tab out and get back to. I have lost so many leves to popups on my computer. Not to say that every time I needed to make adjustments to my second computer, I had to log all the way back out to fix the settings. Guess the only way to play this game with the least amount of hassle is buy a console, or just don't play at all.

I dont see anyone giving any programing advice on how this would work... What everyone is asking for imo is a more improved Window view that fills the screen giving the impression of Full Screen. I dont have the details on the programing.

Most of the problems with the game so far is too many people with little to no experience in the mmo market.
Fortunately they have replaced the FFXIV lead with someone that actually has actually played mmos.
