Has the market on your server saturated yet?

Hello people, Titan player here.

Recently the items, regardless of level and rarity on the market are extremely saturated and getting worse:

1. ilvl50- end products, all around 2000gil with multiple page of same price, even those which are popular pick for spiritbonding.

2. ilvl50- mid products, not much sales, even those used for tradeleves are selling at a price equal to the HQ reward, with competition in selling.

3. ilvl50+ end products, those which can produce valuable t4 materia still has room for profit.

4. ilvl50+ mid products, sells at a acceptable price, but frankly a bit too slow when compared to other methods which can generate gil.

I'm curious to know what the market is like in other servers, anyone want to share?

Nothing sell higher than 20k gil except: ilv70 gears, crt/gp tier 3 and some other tier 4 materias. And nothing higher than 10k has more than 20 sales per every 24hours except materias. Most of them take 7 to 10 days to get 20 sales. However the competion is not high in low ilv items I guess not a lot of players bother to make them once they leveled up (incluide myself).

Crafting is the spiritbonding fuel of the economy, except the price of fuel just dropped to 1 gil per barrel.

Of course there'll be market saturation when all that people are crafting are ilvl50 goods. Go on the market board, find an item where there's very little or even no items for sale that you can craft, and get to work!

Failing that, make some items that are needed for triple levequests. Whenever I need to make some quick gil, I make some HQ Walnut Macahuituls, price them at about 2500 apiece and they sell within a day everytime.

We all knew there were fatal flaws in crafting as income.

No decay means longevity is time stamped. You do it so you can make your own gear and no other reason.

I sell stacks of 20 Buttons in a Blanket on my server for ~30-40k. Individual Grilled Mahi-Mahi go for over 5k a piece. we still have rings and accessories selling for over 1 mil.

Liadanswhisper is right..they are LISTED for that price, the rings and the like. Selling not so much. The market on the things the crowds were hitting have crashed pretty hard, though there are some gems left that folks don't seem to be taking advantage of. So there is profit yet to be had.

However yes, markets are getting worse by the day. I hope pvp gear and housing stuff breathes some life into crafting.

Coke dropped to 13k on AH at some point last night.
I just bought 99 mahi-mahi for 950 each.

Same on our server, peacock ore 13k yesterday.
Didn't see it coming, at least not so soon.

Yeah, tome mats seemed to hit a sudden free fall over the past week or two on Exodus as well. Not quite down to 13k, but went from people selling for 30k (and a few crafters shouting they're buying for 25k ea for over a month) to shouting they're selling for 20k with people trying to buy for even less as usual.

I wonder how the Myth cap compared to Philosophy earned while capping each week works out in relation to the cost of full darklight. Has to be a reason for the sudden change.

PvP gear might be solid for awhile, assuming much of it is crafted and convertible into some PvP specific materia (or we'll just get the WoW version with terrible starting gear from crafting, with PVP equivalents of Philo and Myth gear). I honestly don't have high hopes for furniture. Wouldn't mind being pleasantly surprised, but I expect the market to be flooded within a week or two of the patch. Particularly the CRP housing items, since among semi-serious crafters everyone and their brother is a 50 CRP because of Byregot's.

And I agree your point on furniture, hard to see a HQ version of them, hard to see it will be hard to HQ even they exist. And as it's just FC house, which FC does not have a lv50 crafter in each class but has the gil to buy a house nowaday? Absolute no money there.

Until two weeks ago it was 800k, only one robe in one month.

HQ vanya drop to 230k and there are 9 on AH....

It won't. Unless crafters cazn get a slice of the end game pie, things will still become cheap very fast and be fairly niche in terms of who buys them. Crafting needs to have a place in the end game in order for it to make money again. A few months ago, people wanmted unique looks/weren't doing coil, so things were different. But now, not many people go ilvl70 aside from accessories, or if they just want to look different (dyeing). On my legacy server, tome mats are down to 22-24k each, give or take, down from 100k a month or so ago.

I can see the option to require HQ to make and make the recipe system green, no con. Especially if there are crafting stations in the houses. All HQ parts and material would be sensible but those will still need a material maintenance or it's all one off.

It's an interesting side effect of how they setup the economy. Without WoW-esque dailies that anyone can do to make money rain from the sky (we'll see how much the Beastman dailies in 2.1 pay out) many players that aren't crafters are fairly broke at 50 - especially if they overpaid for their relic melds, and I'm sure we've all gotten in on that pre-melded action on the market at one point or another.

Some will sell tome mats (mostly a circle jerk, and prices are dropping as this thread has shown), a few will sell Titan runs, and some will go farm stuff like Fleece and other random mats that are drops. Main point though, is that crafting can't (continue) make that much money if the people it makes stuff for can't afford to pay very much. Probably why so much of the market is gatherers and crafters selling to each other. The average combat focused player can't afford to be constantly buying at non-trivial prices.

In the end though, making money isn't really about being a crafter. It's about how well you can play the market. Crafting classes just give you more options of how to play the market.

lol I bought a Vanya hat of healing for 180k on my server today
I was trying to make my own but pressed the wrong button and blew 9 potash into oblivion Σ（ﾟдﾟlll）

(good thing Potash are only 14k on my server though!)

I'm looking at the Marketboards right now, and this is what I'm seeing:

Astral Rings? One just sold for 1.5 mil. The lowest HQ ring is 500k. The history on the ring seems to indicate they sell on average between 550k and 800k (factoring in the fact that there some that went for really high prices, and one that went for like, 469k randomly).
Gryphonskin Rings? There are none below 650k right now, most have sold for well over that. One sold in the last 24 hours for 2.5 million.
Rose Gold Rings tend to sell slowly, but the history tab shows them selling for an average of 800k or higher.
Astral Bracelets also sell slowly, but they tend to go for about 600k or higher. One sold for 1.5 mil tonight.
Rose Gold Earrings have weirdly tanked (it's strange because less than a week ago, they were being sold for well over 2 mill a piece, now they're under 300k)
Gryphonskin Choker used to sell for a bit higher, but right now the average sale appears to be around 700k, though there are two pieces on the AH for around 500k right now.
Astral Chokers are still over 500k. One sold two days ago for over 2 mil.
Rose Gold Gorgets sell slowly, but tend to go for about 1 mil.

It's true that most of the pieces that only require 9 tome items have dropped significantly, but I think that's more due to a glut on the market with the tome items than anything else. People are finished gearing their characters, and they're dumping those excess tomes into items they can sell, which is driving the price down.

Edited to Add: What I'm actually a bit more concerned about is that bots have started to wholescale dump shards and crystals on the market. Both the Crystal and the Shard markets crashed on Balmung last week. The Crystal market has "mostly" recovered, but Shards - even Fire, Wind, and Water shards, which are usually the highest in demand - are going for about 12 gil each and there are THOUSANDS of them listed right now.

If you are on Leviathan you don't have many area's where you will see insane profit margins.

On Ragnarok, Vanya Robe of healing is HQ 270k, NQ 140k.
And Weaver's Swallowtail HQ 16k, Weaver's Trousers HQ 13k with all the other Weaver's pieces HQ under 10k.

Endgame food's stlll pretty good on Adamantoise, if slow to sell. La Noscean Toast goes for 1,000-1,500 apiece (I make my own Walnut Bread with HQ walnuts I gather, so the profit's really good). Same case for Pastry Fish and other mage foods.

Pretty much, seems most stuff I gather (botany) sell for <100 gil each. Sad that shard low level items sell more or equal to higher level ones.

Tier IV crit materia ~190k
Tier III parry materia ~13k

There still is profit in lower level items, but sales are slow and if you find an item which sells for a nice ammount, be prepared that the next day there are 50 of them up for sale and the price is down to 50%.
In general, if HQ gear sells for 5-10k (lvl35-49 range, ~15k for militia stuff) that's pretty good already.

I buy everything from a more steady market which benefits better from my purchases . . . NPCs. They have everything I need in this game and the prices remain steady :) If they don't have it, some poor monster out there does, so I just farm it.

The only thing NPCs and monster farming does not do for me is melding, and there's always someone available to do that for tips :)

Leviathan has Philo mats selling as cheap as 10k as of yesterday. I had to drop the price of my HQ Gryphon tunic to 179K due to under cutters. It's getting bad.

Just wait till King mog drops relic-tier weapons and see that arket disapear (If it hasn't yet). Then we have the choice between CT/AF+1 gear wich comes for free by doing dungeons or spend countless gil on tries to pentameld a crafted piece...

For people thinking that Housing will move the economy, it wil... for about 3 weeks. Then the hype for having the fanciest house in the neighborhood will go down and most FC will rely on it's own members to craft whatever furniture they want. If they had released personal housing then yes, the market would keep moving because not everyone has 8 crafts maxed, but with FC housing that's not going to happen.

Potash - Animal Fat - Coke etc are like 15k

HQ Gryphon Vanya Darksteel like 200k max

All Shards like 5Gil ...... there are millions of them in AH

All Battle materia III is like 10k

Crafting Materia like Control III is around 20k - CP III 4 - Craft III 10k

All other crafting mats like Gold ore Cocoons Darksteel etc are 80g each

every HQ Amber , Turquoise Equip like Rings etc are 1.oooGil HQ

The game market is broken for sure... and this wont probably never change again

Did anyone actually think stuff like 30k potions and multimillion gil accessories and off pieces of equipment was ever going to be sustainable? The game's income stream isn't high enough for that to be reasonable for anyone except other traders.

All of the philo mats have dropped to 17k or less (with the lowest hovering around 15k). There's a single Vanya piece up for 1.5 mil, but I don't believe it will sell, as the rest are between 250-300k.

It's really funny how they keep saying that somehow furniture is going to save crafting. Anyone with enough gil to buy a house isn't going to have enough gil left over for furniture - or they'll have people in-house to make it themselves. The market is going to be flooded with 0 demand given that barely anyone will be able to afford a damn house to put the damn furniture in. :-\

Edited to Add: Oh, and the shard market is just gone. It's...dead. As a doornail. 11 gil for fire shards, 12 for water shards, 9 gil for Lightning. The Crystals aren't much better - the only one that hasn't completely tanked is Earth Crystals, and I have no idea why (or how long it will last).

yeah well atleast u didnt try peddling phillo items at reveants toll for 11k each and get laughed at because they droped to 8k in under 5 hours -_-. i guess farming phillos is dead in my server which is shiva RIP. but in other news i saw a retainer selling 160 tier 3 acc matiera.. can we say wippee for the bots an RMT till running around? glad to know someone will afford 50mill for a medium sized fc house lol ;p
