I'm trying to get my friend in this game. He is living in thailand (originally from canada)and wants to be able to play on NA servers? Is that possible? Should he get the american version?

I'm not sure which version he should get (I think that only effects payments). But I do know that you can play on any server regardless. I've played on EU and JP servers and I'm from the US with US version.

Yeah, i'm from Poland and bought game here. I can play on all servers - JP, NA and EU.

Apparently all the servers are hosted in NA anyway, so shouldn't matter which version he buys.

We have someone in our FC playing from Thailand on the NA datacenter. I think his only complaint is latency since technically it should be better for him connecting to the JP datacenter.

My friend was trying to download a digital version of the game but the square enix website wont let him nor amazon or gamestop. He's having a hard time finding a hard copy where he lives and has to travel 500km to bangkok to get it.

He could also use a VPN service to connect to a remote location (UK, Canada, JPN is probably best). Then buy it through the store. Internet and MMORPG is pretty good in Thailand so he should have no problems, and VPNing out to appear as in UK/JPN is also easy (have done many times).

Yah not every country allows digital sales. It's best your friend picks it up in Thailand because the region of the game has to match your location as indicated in your Square Enix Account or the registration code that comes with the game will NOT work. If he was shipped a North American copy he'd have to register his Country as Canada or US and he'd then be unable to pay with a Thai based credit card I believe.
