SYN stepping down from FFXIV

With the release of tonight's Live Letter regarding patch 2.1, Synapse won't be playing FFXIV: ARR in any official capacity from today.

The main reason is that the game's direction and content is no longer in line with our interests as a hardcore progression guild eg. no 24-man progression raid. A large number of our core do not plan to renew our subscriptions for a game that we no longer find fun. We do not plan to disband our FC as there will still be remnant groups of friends playing.

Nevertheless, it's been a pleasure seeing Tonberry grow from a small server at launch to the robust raiding community that it is today. We wish all the LS and FC's on Tonberry all the best in future endeavors.

P.S. Rei will not be maintaining the Tonberry Progression Thread anymore.

Yeah the fact that so many FC's recruited many, many BC groups to accommodate 1-2-3 CT groups only to have them all DF it now is quite displeasing to say the least. Oh well, once the content in 2.1 is cleared in the first week or two I'm sure majority won't renew till' 2.2.

Not to mention how it was implied that they are making stuff easier. Only reason I'm playing FFXIV is because of it's difficulty. Difficulty should go higher with each new content. Come 2.1 there won't be any sense of accomplishment anymore. Sucks i just renewed 6 days ago :(

It's sad when people leave a game because it doesn't offer them the relief from their addiction, instead of enjoying the things the games do well.

This thread was mainly so people dont put in apps for FF14 anymore since we aren't committed to the game. We will be playing wildstar and other pvp games in the future so I'm sure we'll see some of you around in those games.

Not surprised at all. I share your concerns. I need some MMO pvp with the competitive crews too, but Wildstar cartoon graphics are a deal breaker. I might want to watch the GvG recordings? I have a GvG request/suggestion: SYN versus AGG (AGG is/was Eastern Standard Time, -5 GMT).

Can't say I like the cartoony art style as well, but the gameplay and content seem pretty good, looking forward to warplots and BGs. TESO also has some potential for PvP.
