Warrior Relic Weapon Issue With Stats

Is anyone else in the least bit curious why our relic weapon has skill speed on it instead of accuracy? Yes, this is a bit of a rant but I'm tired of stupid, worthless stats on gear that doesn't do anything useful.

26 skill speed doesn't give us a lick of an edge over anything nor does it make a big difference of anything. I would like to get something going where the dev's can give us worthwhile stats and put accuracy in place of skill speed on the relic. If we can't hit anything, skill speed is worthless regardless. Tanks need to hit stuff to hold threat, not miss but have more skill speed.

I really hope SE doesn't say Allagan battleaxe... Because I like bravura much more... The name alone is awsome! The allagan battleaxe looks like a wizards cane...

... So.. I'm gonna say it.. Allagan Battleaxe. You shouldn't be surprised at all that the relic axe would have a one sucky stat to it, they made it really easy (If you're able to kill Titan HM) to get the relic weapons which at the current moment are on par with the Allagan weapons in Turn 5 but the only difference is.. one or two stats? Which makes sense in my opinion.. you get handed a fairly EASY to get now item level 90 item... which has a one worthless stat on it meanwhile the Allagan weapon which is not easy to get at all has similiar stats but instead of that one or so crappy stat.. It gives you one that you can benefit for it.. Gotta work for what you actually need.

PLD doesn't (nor does DRG, BRD, or WHM). Curtana has both acc and parry on it from the get go. The Allagan Sword has the same stats a slightly tweaked ratio. Both of the secondary stats on them are the best stats for tanks. WAR gets a weapon with parry and skill speed or accuracy and determination: no matter what, one of your secondary stats as a WAR is going to be effectively wasted itemization. In almost every case, the PLD gear is, at *worst* only marginally worse than the Allagan equivalent. There's a lot of WAR gear that just has terrible itemization.

Of course, when discussing the WAR weaps, you have to consider that, no matter what, you'll only get one good tank stat on a WAR weapon: Bravura gets parry but has itemization wasted on skill speed whereas the Allagan Axe get acc but itemization wasted on determination. Regardless of which weapon you go with, you're not getting the stats that you really want.

Wont matter if they make the Allagan ilvl higher in 2.1. Relic will go into the dust closet.

You realize that all Allagan weapons are stronger due to quicker Auto Attack swings right? Yeah it sucks that Allagan Battleaxe is a Wizard's Cane but Bravura ain't a piece of work either. Got Allagan Scholar book this week and sure hell is f-u-g-l-y... Only Allagan Sword looks decent... Please no Accuracy I'm in over it with my Gryphonskins, I'd take Critical Rating anyday!!!

What's the consensus on WAR's primary secondaries going into 2.1 any way?

Determination isn't a 'waste' on how Warrior is at the moment, can't say for 2.1. It sure as hell isn't something you should go out your way for but if a tank item drops that is a upgrade for the warrior and has determination.. Greeeeat! Poor man's strength/heals to help you out a little bit.

And yes if I recall correctly the Allagan Battleaxe has faster auto speed. Beats the bravura more then one way.. I prefer the Bravura over the.. wizard cane axe but -shrug- it'll be better no matter what. Especially with it going to item level 95 in 2.1

Weapon damage contribution is normalized, it doesn't matter. Fast or Slow if it's the same item level it's going to contribute the same amount of damage. The only exception for tanks is a PLD using sword oath in which the contribution is directly related to how quickly you can hit the target since it's a flat per-hit bonus.

Not to mention tank damage contribution in this game means fuck all unless your DPS are mediocre players.

I know for coil, accuracy would be better. But when I am doing runs of content that is easier, skill speed is really nice, not for the damage, but for faster rotations and hate generation. I know most of you Higher Level warriors are really focusing on coil, but I think the relic will be very beneficial with the Crystal Tower and other endgame content that isn't quite as difficult as coil.

You get all the accuracy you need on your gear, but you have to have access to a lot of AF2/Allagan and mostly the Fending rings etc since theyre mostly all heavy Vit/Parry/Acc. The moment I unequipped Darklight, accuracy was a problem; slowly but surely I am recapping. I think now I am at 465 with food.

Its funny though, Skill Speed is one of our best secondary tanking stats come 2.1 so Relic+1 will be used for tanking and Allagan Axe is for DPS MRD. Useful for faster Inner Beast refresh.

The little swing speed does add up, though most of your skill will still hit for the same. It is just a minor upgrade from Bravura +1. Side where did people hear of Allagan weapons being iLvl 95 come 2.1? iLvl 95 would mean WPN Dmg +1 , STR +2 VIT +2 Offstats +2-4. Accuracy isn't a problem really once you have Gryphonskins. As a tank I like to give DPS on the sides, more HP means nothing but buffer. I prefer my Dreadknights, Deadknights faster.

Well Allagan for last week Allagan Scholar book this week. Hope to get my Axe or Sword soonish.

Swing speed does nothing to DPS. All weapons are designed to deal exactly 83.33 potency per GCD through their auto-attack. A weapon with twice the weapon speed is going to hit for half as much damage. Weapon skills, on the other hand, are entirely governed by the physical damage attribute so that the only thing that matters is i-level. Bravura + 1 and Allagan Axe, before 2.1, are going to deal the *exact* same amount of damage, all else equal. This is also why WARs do not have some magical auto-attack advantage over PLD: WAR axe auto-attacks hit hard but occur much less often which means that Curtana and Bravura are going to deal the exact same amount of damage.

Unless they buff skill speed it'll hardly make a difference. In Full myth/allagan and gunning for as much Skill speed as you can get through accessories and level 90 gear you won't even be able to reduce your GCDs low enough to see even a 1 second advantage in a standard wrath building combo.

If my napkin math ain't as bad as I think, with bravura +1 and melded accessories you should be able to push below 2.5 sec gcd; that should be something like a 18% increase in IB up-time when spammed. Of course the viability of such play-style (IB spam) will depend on the content.

26 Parry isn't going to make a non-trivial difference either and it even has the potential to make zero difference.

Pre-2.1 skill speed wouldn't have increased net mitigation, but now it does, so this complaint is no longer an issue.

Assuming 8 skills uses base to generate 5 stacks of wrath you would have to reduce your GCD from 2.5 to 2.375 to gain just a single second. It's a 5% gain. The highest skill speed bonus you can obtain as a warrior is 121 (assuming +16 for each accessory slot +15 for the myth helm and +24 for Bravura+1) which would only drop you down to about 2.38 (assuming linear gains of -0.01 GCD per ~10 as I have not seen any testing on stacking skill speed and this is the number I have seen in my own practice).

Edit: After going through the DB there are no rings with a skill speed budget above 12 so knock of 8 from that original total of 121.

I was assuming old theorized gains for skill speed were correct; the current accepted gain is 10.5 to 0.01 sec, no? Hmm, this makes things interesting...

I'd say you still get more bang for buck sticking with Parry, cause I don't see the possibility of 100% even with back to back optimal infuriate usage, you have around 40% IB buff time, cutting it down to 2.0 per GCD would mean a 20% increase which would put you at 48% uptime.

Also tested with my Japanese folks that indeed Allagan Battleaxe swings faster though they deal less damage per swing but more frequent compared to Bravura +1. However, skill usage yields the same DMG range. Over the long course of Auto attacking only, Allagan Battleaxe beat Bravura +1 even more so if your STR is higher. (STR seems to be somewhat of a linear damage increase for auto attacks, meaning faster swing speed benefit more, 21 STR seem to give my Paladin and Warrior 10-12 DMG increase per swing)

Just tested with my Curtana +0 and Bravura +0 same STR same DTR. Both average out for the same amount of damage. 34.02/2.32*3.44 = 50.44 Auto Attack same like the Bravura. Hence, Allagan Battleaxe has 2.3% more potent auto attacks than Bravura +1. Whereas for Allagan Blade vs Curtana +1 it is a whopping 7.4% more potent auto attacks 11.1% if you are in Sword Oath.

That why Sword Oath is more potent than Shield Oath for generating threat cause Auto swings are 87.5% more potent/enmity whereas the Shield Oath Enmity only makes inherit enmity increase skill to generate slightly more enmity. But as far as weapon swing enmity Sword Oath wins flat out. My days of Twintania is proof enough that I need around 4 Combo to get from 4th placing in threat level after Scourges to 2nd placing whereas in Shield Oath I needed around 6-7 Combos to get to 2nd placing in threat.

What was your testing methodology and/or your sample size? If you're talking about DPS, a result of 3% variance could well be due to RNG with a sample size of 1000 or less.
