What the WAR buff, SHOULD have been.

~Marauder~

Foresight - Absorbs 5% of damage done as HP (10% from trait)
Bloodbath - 30% damage - HP conversion (60% trait)
Brutal Swing - CD reduced to 15 seconds
Thrill of Battle - Increase to 30%
Mercy Stroke - 200 Potency 90s CD (when used adds a 10% HoT every tick/4 ticks trait)
Vengeance - 100 Potency, adds a debuff that reduces all mob damage by 30%
Butcher's Block - Added Effect: Breaks Bones (reducing enemy damage by 10%)
Holmgang - Absorbs all damage as HP for 6 seconds, 240 CD
Storms Path - 125% of damage done as HP, overheals once.

~Warrior~

Wrath - 6% healing each stack (should be a tradeoff)
Inner Beast - 500% damage done as HP, at 10% HP, 150% damage done as HP at max HP, overheals once.
Steel Cyclone - 250 Potency + Silence
Infuriate - 80s cooldown

I think with these fixes, it adds a bit of utility/survivability to WAR, while enhancing its identity

Less of the crazy please! That's insanely overpowered (and I love my Warrior)

I know it isn't perfect, this is just a broad layout to how WARs could be fixed. The dev. team can adjust the numbers however.

Absorption is either OP or worthless. It never works well in practice.

Just because it hasn't been done, doesn't mean it can't be done.

I just don't want to see us lose our identity with this buff.

The WAR has to do lot of damage for absorption to work. But he can't because he has to tank and use +DEF and +VIT equipment.
If you improve its damage a lot, then DPS will become obsolete because WAR would do as much damage while tanking.

Thats why a set number of skills work on percentages.

I don't get this whole "warrior identity crisis" that people are talking about. People need to understand that having different tanks doesn't mean that the different tanks reduce damage by different ways, but instead that they play differently. With the changes that are coming, the warrior will still be played much differently than the pally. Anyway as to your "changes that should have been made", the whole premise of losing survivability because you use a move is just bad design. With your suggestion you are giving yourself a 30% healing received debuff whenever you use up your wrath. With the new system that is coming, there is still a penalty to using your stacks and that is the crit reduction. Considering you still have moves that heal you with the damage you do to enemies, I don't see why you don't see how a reduced chance to crit (reduced chance to have a higher self heal) is a trade off.

Yeah but percentage of your damage and if your damages are pitiful, they aren't enough. And if you pump up your damage, your defense will go down.

Oh yeah, that brilliant mechanic. 2 DKs on 4th boss in Icecrown could stack up huge shields between Taunts and invalidate a ton of damage from the fight. No thanks. You could also Death Strike up to 7 times in a row on a 1 - 1.5 second Global cooldown via Death Runes.

So no, I'd rather not be a Death knight clone. Tanking as a Death Knight devolved from careful Rune/Runic power management and cooldown usage judgement into {Spam Death Strike on one target, drop Death and Decay + Blood Boil spam on 2+}
