making HQ items in your 20's

Hello,

Took every craft to 15 and now willing to take cooking to 37 first for Steady Hand II
I heard about the Triple Leavequests but I a struggling a bit to make HQ Walnut bread...

I usually start with inner quiet and then use careful synthesis until I am i synth away from completion
Then i use Master's Mend > Steady hands and basic/hasty touch until no more Dura
Is there some better rotation for low level? (I have all the 15 cross-skills)

or should I just buy HQ Walnut bread directly and go to 37 like that?
(I plan to focus on Weaver, Carpenter and Goldsmith but want Cul37 for the skill)

Any advice welcome

I do ok using this methood in my weaving.


For items of 40 durability:
Inner Quiet > Steady Hand > Waste Not > Standard Touch x 4 or 5 (if the item will take 2 Careful Synths then 4 Touches) > Careful Synth until item is complete.


For items of 80 durability:
Inner Quiet > Steady Hand > Standard Touch x 5 > Rumination (converts Inner Quiet to CP) > Steady Hand > Waste Not > Usually 3 Careful Synth with a Standard Touch and Hasty Touch.


I also try to stay in best gear for level, eat some food, and use as much HQ ingredients as possible too. These work pretty well for everything up to the star levels. I'll also try to save my highest touch for item conditions in good or excellent. When finishing up an 80 durability item I can usually count on needing 3 careful synths, so I'll do one and if condition changes to good then use the touch.

make the walnut bread normally... There is no reason at such a low level to worry about hq'ing your items one or two normals you should level up with 1 or 2 levequests... In order to level an item you normally have to be about 5 levels about the item you are trying to create

I guess there are not “perfect” rotation because of RNG but it’s useful to see and try other people’s rotation to find a rotation I like :)

You mean you should usually need to be 5 lv about the item level to have good chance at HQ? Right now I have always done craft higher than my current level. Maybe I should do easier crafts. But xp is low isn’t it?

It's difficult to reliably HQ early on, to be honest. You lack a lot of CP saving/gaining abilities. You can pull off "most of the time", but it can be quite frustrating sometimes lol. Your gear will weigh heavily on whether or not success is easy or hard on getting an HQ. I pretty much always bought the requested HQ goods if they were cheap, especially with CUL.

It's best to stay within your level range (meaning of equal or lower) until you can get better gear and, definitely, better abilities. The exp yield isn't that big of a difference between the level of synths. Assuming no lower than maybe... 5 levels or so.

Oh and no, the level difference with HQ'ing goods don't matter too greatly. It's definitely easier if you're higher (due to better gear), but you can still reliably HQ of-level goods, if not a little higher, once you have access to better abilities.

NP, that's my go too rotation now. I have tried the using Steady Hand and Hasty Touch while using that one skill to get CP back on Good conditions, but I just found the most success in doing it the way I mentioned and you get to use the Good condition to your favor with the synth. Hope it was of some help.

When I did lower levels, I would use Inner Quiet, Steady Hand, and Waste Not. Then Hasty Touch until they wear, then reapply Steady Hand and Waste Not and use Hasty Touch down to the last 5 or 10 durability. Toss in Standard Synth as you said to get close to finishing the synth. I also used Tricks of the Trade when I felt it was applicable. You can use it once or twice during these two rotations of Steady Hand plus Waste Not and still be fine. Using cheap accessories and a cheap CP food from NPC vendor, and one or two Tricks of the Trade used, you will probably have enough CP to do Master's Mend. This will let you squeeze out a few more synths, use whatever is needed at that point.

Obviously there are better abilities to use from higher levels, but for lower levels the above seemed to work for me. I also used as many HQ materials as I could, either gathered, farmed, or crafted by myself and never bought.

This guide should help with crafting HQ's at various levels, it's worked great for me.

You should stop thinking of rotations until you're very much over-geared for the item.

Always plan ahead and synthesis when you're at low quality or have no durability room for quality.
I default to improving quality until I know I will run out of durability if I don't start with synthesis.
Also, when the remaining durability and CP tells you that you have X number of Careful Synthesis and Y number of Hasty Touch left,
then use Careful Synthesis until you hit a High Quality/one synth away from completion, then improve quality.

The key is to maximize your gain from High Quality procs. To do that, you want to have your careful synths during Normal quality.

Wow Bichcat.. I don't even want to imagine getting all those 50s and I consider myself a pretty hard core player. Thanks for the link though, will come in handy to me for sure.

I would try leveling carpenter to lv50 first. That profession's lv50 spell is op. If you even get half of the hq bar, byregot's blessing will fill the last half. I was making hq items even before lv20 just because of byregot's blessing alone.

well CUL/CRP/WVR are the ones I want to take to 50 the most
do you recommend CRP befor CUL (37 for Steady Hand II)?
