how long to beat titan hm?

I was curious about how long will it take to beat titan? I'm a pld in full dl. Healers do fine usually with me but every match I've done (close to 45) people are dead before heart and I haven't killed heart once yet. I've played with close to 15 groups so far. 12 in duty finder rest premade. About how many groups and attempts did it take the rest of you to finally succeed in titan? Three days doing nothing but losing to titan is really making the game lose all fun.

But think about the fun when you do beat him and then get onto coil. That feeling when you know you beat him without been carried.

It took my FC a week and a half of practice to clear it, although not all of those days were Titan runs.

My advice is no matter what group you get, stick with it for a few attempts but don't drag it out for too long. In my experience, people will just do worse as time goes on due to how much concentration it takes. If you aren't getting past the heart phase after several attempts then the party is likely going to be a bust.

Took me 3 weeks of wiping over and over to find a group that beat him. And so glad I found them; amazing group of amazing people.

i tried a few times in duty finder. then i tried with liked 6 people from a friend's linkshell and two duty finder tanks.

Then i yelled for help in mor dhona and got a awesome party that beat it in two tries. You need to form a group outside of duty finder. It is very helpful to have a good mix of classes. The 2 tank requirement from DF sucks for titan, bypassing that is useful as well.

so it took me two sittings to beat the guy.

Took me about a week.

Couple tries in the DF, then a couple pickups that got nasty because I was still learning, then my own party that was JUST for people learning (spent a couple hours with those guys running over and over), and then about three more shout groups. By the end there, Titan couldn't even touch me. It was just a matter of finding 7 other people who were the same.

From the day I walked into Titan HM to when I beat it was 3-4 days and about 6-7 groups. To be fair I lucked out and found some guys on my server who just like to do Titan HM and overgear it.

1 day from starting to practice to getting my relic on monk. I think it was around 10 tries. For warrior, it was tougher since it only requires 1 tank and people usually take Paladins....

1 run with a good group of friends as WAR with about 2 wipes just adjusting to everything. One of the healers died after the heart and never got raised but we still made it through. Was pretty great and that healer was 10/10.

1 run with PLD as well since I ran with the same group and everyone already knew the fight. Don't think we wiped that time.

Point is, you really want to get a static for attempts because constantly replacing people will just end in more people having to learn the fight, more wiping, more repeated failures. But if those people stick around you could easily down Titan in one or two full attempts. Titan's not that bad, especially now that there's so many guides about it.

It took me like 15 hours of attempts before I got my first win...And it was the most fun I've had with an MMO in like forever. Admittedly, part of this was because it gave me an excellent opportunity to practice my Japanese as I listened to my parties' battle ideas and chipped in my own ideas. Each group stuck together probably an average of 45 minutes, so 20 attempts?


I think the fight is much more difficult in English parties because they tend to be far more ill-tempered. I couldn't imagine spending 15 hours in Titan with them the way they behave. By contrast...I've had well over 100 Japanese groups over the last 3 months and only two of them have been less than friendly. One was an Aurum Vale run where, after we wiped at the first boss, the tank declared that he was tired of tanks always taking the blame when something goes wrong(even though nobody was really criticizing him...) and proceeded to drop.

The second time was one of those Titan runs actually and completely my fault. The group wanted to clump up before plumes(重み) to make it easier to dodge them. I got frustrated trying to explain that the game's ability delay made it impractical for me to do that, that I needed to be running when they appeared if I was to consistently avoid them. This concept is hard enough to get across in English(especially when the other person is meeting you with cynicism) to someone who has no first hand experience of it.

So yeah...two bits of drama in over 100 Japanese parties. English parties? Maybe one in four? More for Titan, less for easier content. Try to ignore the hotheads and enjoy the fight...Titan really is the pinnacle of fun in the game and eventually you'll get it. If you really get tired of it though, you could try politely asking people at Wineport shouting for coil parties. "Hey! Sorry for the random request, but I've failed Titan a dozen times trying for my first relic. I was hoping you and maybe a couple friends could help me through...?" If someone tell'd me with that, I would help them...either on the spot or in a couple hours after I finished whatever I was occupied with.

One more thing...I see you're a Paladin. I don't know if you know or not, but you don't need to move throughout the last half of the battle. You can just stand on the edge of the platform in the NE cardinal direction and you'll never get hit by a bomb. If you do that, it'll reduce the strain on the healers considerably.(I'm cap..err..mp stable solo-healing when the tank isn't eating bombs).

3 Days of DF, got into an awesome JP DF party at 5am, got it on 3rd tries, my fault on the 2 wipes though lol. After heart phase is hard when most DF group at the time never pass heart.
Subsequent Relic are all done on the day I hit 50 a the next day, most of the time 1 shot from Ifrit to Titan with FC. Now getting Titan wins in DF on my server is easy, most group just one shot, the most is 1-2 wipes, then they will clear it.

Oh as a PLD, for the love of god don't run to the bomb safe spot with the rest of the party after heart phase, I had that happen in a DF party where the tank kept turning the Titan around the platform during bomb phase, a few times Titan end up facing the rest of the raid and I got hit by rock buster. It was a miracle we manage to clear it after only 1 wipe.

I farmed him about 25+ times the other day for shield killed him in about7 mins each run. Started running randoms thought for free of charge.

It took me about 60 tries to beat titan. On my 57th try, I studied his moves in stage 5 for 1 week then once I memorized his pattern, it only took me 3 tries to beat him.

About 3 days, under 20 tries. It was with my raid admittingly.

Now days I do it in pugs for the fun of it, but DPS always die first. In the event there's a DPS or two that don't die, we beat it.

With a decent group, Titan takes maybe 7 mins to kill. Pretty easy to find or make a group these days. Just have to be good at filtering people.

Three weeks, about ~100 tries.

It took me 2 groups. First group was a training group. We did horribly and didn't get past heart once. Second group I lucked out since I got in a group with mostly relic players and it was a clear group not a practice group. I was the only person there that had not previously cleared the fight. I had Garuda wep/full DL and food. I have since helped 5 people in my FC get their titan clears using the same strategy. I set up practice runs and call out the entire rotation in advance over ventrilo for them. I have a macro I hit before weights and I mark bombs when it is clock rotation bombs. Once they do well enough dodging in practice runs I set up clear runs for them with an attempt to make them be the only non relic player in group. That being said there's usually 2-3 people per group going for clear, the rest were relic holders. Try to set up similar groups. make a weight macro, memorize the entire rotation. Learn how to mark clock rotation bombs. If you get the right people in your group you should get your win quickly.

3 random groups 'till I got my first kill. I think I was pretty lucky with Titan. Needed longer and more tries with second relic though. Didn't count it. :c

5 tries, less than a hour the first time. Should only take 8 minute or so after that.

It's a matter of luck, it took me a while to beat Primals for me, I was in AF for Ifrit and Garuda, had to have Hoplite and ifrit sword for titan took me a week to get the gear trying random runs in between, Finally did it with a premade of 5 DPS, 2 Healer 1 Tank(me) with 0 darklight on. I think its just the luck of the draw. Honestly Titan is the easiest Primal to tank. It's very healer and DPS dependent. I also have a friend that has done 4 relics in duty finder/ shout groups. So its luck of the draw.

You should solo tank and have 5 dps, 2 healers. That's how you get the dps to clear heart phase. Have at least one melee dps to lb the heart if you need to. For healers have one sch for aoe heals and one whm to keep your ass alive. From there just make sure everybody dodges properly. It's hard and you have to react really quickly, but not impossible to clear. 2 tanks will slow your dps too much so don't use the duty finder.

It's been a month, with 3 or 4 hours per day of tries, and still not beat...
I'm so sick of it :(

Dodging his moves has been second nature to me for a long time now. I don't get hit by anything that can be avoided and I'm routinely the last person alive in any run.

Sadly, I'm stuck. I can't ever seem to find a PUG with ppl who are competent enough to complete it, and when I think it do, other players (who should know better) keep screwing things up and ppl get angry and quit. (I have started a running count of ppl with Relic+1s that get hit by landslides in my fights.)

It's not just random PUGs either... I've been the 7th member in experienced FC groups (with relics and +1s) and I've been asked to stay while they've kicked their own members out of the fight for eating a plume, bomb, or landslide. But something always goes wrong.... Always. Chalk it up to bad luck I guess.

Still, I refuse to buy the win.

UPDATE: Finally got it after 96 total attempts. Joined a PUG that shouted that anyone who died pre-phase 5 would be kicked. We did some runs, kicked ppl who died, picked up some others and finally beat it with a perfect run, no deaths. --- Moral of the story: If you want to win, make sure you're the best in any pt you're in-- and then don't waste time with ppl who can't carry their own weight in that fight.

Don't buy the win. 150k for a wannabe group that still wipes is a waste

First time I downed him (as well as the first time our FC downed him) it took about 3 or 4 tries, about 30 Min, I was tanking it. 1 of our Healer and 2 of our DPS had already gotten their relics through PUG groups. Most of us were in DL/AK gear mix with Garuda weapons, we farmed Garuda for like 4 or 5 hours to get our the Weapons, sadly I wasn't able to get my Sword so I was tanking it using my GC weapon.

After our core group got their Relic we have been downing him every saturday / sunday to help our other FC mates get their Relics as well as for alt classes. After you get some practice, Titan actually isn't that hard, I even solo healed a PUG group once as my SCH (Relic + full DL) after the WHM died to the first Geocrush and wouldn't take the rez, said he wouldn't survive the AOEs. The group was expecting a wipe, didn't think I was able to solo heal the whole fight (honestly thought we were going to wipe too), was a fun experience.
