Why not make event armor and weapons scale with your level?

They made this cool gear/weapons that have stats that will work with every class, but it's only useful for a couple levels at most. It would be cool if they made it scale with your level until 45 when you get your class gear. With the vanity system not being ready (and maybe months and months away), this cool looking event gear and weapons are a complete waste. Playing dress up in an MMO can be entertaining, but only when you can also kick some monster arse at the same time.

Vanity sets will do this exact thing. We just have to wait for SE to implement it.

I don't think I've seen a single game where gear scaled with your character... Not even in single-player titles. I mean, there was scaling in some like Skyrim, but it only scaled for as long as you didn't obtain said item. Once you got said item it stopped scaling and was forever at whatever level you got it at. Item scaling as you suggested flies in the face of an equipment system like you see in... well, every game ever. It's an interesting idea, but remember that this is an event, full of puns and in-jokes (seriously, they are all level 13. Eh? Eh?! *wink*).

Wow, I stand corrected. There was also the Trump Crown, now that I think about it. But, mind you, these are items akin to Skyrim's where you get them as a reward for particularly difficult content, not event items you get just for attending.

Can you store the event items? I heard you can't so I never bothered trying.

If it scaled but was below par for level: nobody uses past initial level range.

If it scaled on par/above par with level: I get a level 13 item that I don't replace for 32 levels - or 37 for weapons.

Both would be poor MMO design. Granted with fate spams you can already do the same with lower level gear, but that's a different type of poor MMO design.

Not in the Armoire, but you can give them to a retainer. 12 slots out of 175 isn't that much.

I just hope they'll not put silly restrictions on vanity slots, like "non-event weapons onry".

By the time they'd developed, tested, polished, and released the scaling thing, we'd have likely had vanity slots for a couple months.

They could make just these items upgreadable, just like in ff 13. For post 50 ilvl make mats drop from instances.

Gear should only scale down, not up.
Or you would see people in swimsuits doing coil. Why get ilevel 90 gear if a ilevel 1 gear scaled up do the same job?

No, I meant in the retainer.

That single change would really harm Crafting more than it already does.

I mean, why bother craft when you shove event gear from 1-50 and completely negate the need of gear that an Armorer or Weaponsmith does?

Especially with how easy it is to get said even items?

Heirloom gear did exactly this in World of Warcraft. http://www.wowwiki.com/Heirloom <--- Go here, read, and scroll down to see the way that gear worked. This is a good idea. But I think it's far too early to add shit like that to the game yet.

But if its not level 13 you wont get that is has to do with FF13, remember Squenix thinks were all dumb.

Interesting. Shame I never played past the free trial on WoW back in... 2009? 2010? I can only talk of games I've seen and I've not seen much of WoW.

Usually how it works with this type of gear is this way.... After the level cap is taken off once... or i'd say even a second time.. then that gear is released. But only for it to go from level 1 ~ 50 (aka the initial level cap). After it hits that level it stops, and you have to level the rest of the way without it.
