How long is this free for?
Because I haven't noticed any deductions from this, I just came back online after getting it when it first came out, stopped played for a while now I'm back on I was surprised to find out that I'm still able to login.

They've basically said that it's free to play until they feel it's worth paying a monthly fee for. I suspect this will also be around the time of PS3 release (maybe a little bit before it).
Oh I see, awesome.
Can't wait for the PS3 release, is there still no time scale on this yet?
Pretty much what they said. :P
Post like this is why any sort of forum ranking or medals based on post count is asinine.
Anywho to stay on topic. The game is free, and will stay free for months to come. Most likely sometime late fall is when they will start charging. Get the PS3 release out before the winter festivals.
That is if SE can rework the game, get it stable, and get tons of quality content out before then. No small feat since they are reworking the game from the ground up. Major code rewrites.
Thanks Hiemdall, that cleared everything up!
I honestly would hate to be any SE dev right now, especially for FFXIV. The game industry can be cut-throat, and deadlines are always looming. No matter if they are public or in-house deadlines. FFXIV's deadline was last November :P
You should check out the latest Game Informer article "Are Producers Allowed To Rant, Too?", it will open your eyes. The digital article is free to view on Game Informers web site.

Thanks for the link. A buddy of mine was working for EA in Burbank and left due to the poor work conditions. He actually joined the US Air Force, and says the work hours, pay, and just overall morale is much better. Although to be fair he still has friends that work there and they say things are much better.
But yeah I hope the SE/FFXIV devs are not overworked and underpaid. If your reading this SE, don't overwork your devs, we can wait for the content. Labor laws exist for a reason!

Don't do it :)
You're misinterpreting my comment. It was not directed at you, but rather the needlessness of it. It was a good example of why displaying post count, and having things like medals based on them is asinine. As if someone that post's a lot vs someone that does not would be more knowledgeable or that their opinion matters more.
If there must be such a thing as forum ranking make it on how many times their comments have been liked...or in the background mods can up/down rank posters.
Honestly nothing personal :)
