Why bother posting that devs? To me that sounds like, 'yeah, whatever'.

Of course you're gonna look into it, that's not what we want to hear.

Bad PR, bad marketing. You're hanging yourselves guys. Come on!

We know you have stuff in the works. You're better just being quiet than saying stuff like this.

Not trolling peeps, please don't think that. It's just bizarre to think that this is good PR. These posts are making it worse.

How about changing the position of mobs and movement in battle?

How about making the game into a game:

We will look into it.

How about turning all Mobs into giant pink mice with fairly lights attached to their nipples?

We will, what? Oh , we will pass it on and they'll look into it...

You're right. They should fully explain every inane question thrown at them whenever we feel like bugging them, regardless of what they have planned, what it might give away, and whether or not it will even be relevant or possible after they implement what they're already working on. That should help them move along faster. Sounds pretty efficient.

"Well look into it." is a lot more promising than FFXI's "....." ever was. It's certainly a lot better than what I'd have said to the community:

"Look, we're like, quarter of the way trudging through the last 500 issues you wanted us to look at. When we get there, we'll start worrying about this batch. Pick your priorities, already!"

There are two sides to that coin. "We'll look into it" IS a lame answer, but would you rather they just not answer at all until they have specifics? Frankly I would rather they say "Yes, we're aware of the problem and are trying to fix it"(IE: we'll look into it), then them saying nothing at all.

Because if they hadn't said anything, someone else would've made a thread complaining about the lack of response.

There was a bit of obfuscation with this kind of wording, they did confirm quite a bit of other things though.

It was also a translation, not sure how well it is recieved in Japanese. What I take from this is really how hard working and awesome our community reps are. I know a few of my concerns that I had posted were listed among those Q/A items and I noticed one was confirmed to be implemented.

I've said it in a couple other threads. They ought to put up a sticky in the general page with a tally of the players top 10 desired changes, and once a month (in the thread) take all the suggestions and update the list. This way the devs have a way to keep tabs on what we want, and we feel like we are being heard.

If it makes you feel better, there is a whole game in the dats, its just locked at the moment.

"We'll look into it" is a bit vague. The alternative isn't necessarily saying nothing at all.

You could have a different set of vague general answers that more accurately answer a question while still not being classified as specifics. You could say "We are aware that some players think this is an issue but have no plans in the near future to change it as we think it is fine", you could say "We have a team addressing that issue currently and expect a resolution within the next six months (or one year)", or even "We are going to address this problem at an unspecified later date as it is important but not a priority in relation to the issues we are currently addressing".

One of those things say "No", another says "Yes, and working on it now", and yet another says "Yes, but not in the near future".

All those things are vague but not anywhere near as vague as "We'll look into it"

"We will look into it" is FFXIV's version of FFXI's "We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused".

It's a Japanese thing. Culturally, that phrase doesn't really sit well with Westerners as it gives the impression of nonspecificity and ambivalence, but it doesn't sound so bad in Japanese. Just think about it as a general acknowledgement, but it would be nice to have more details, yes.

Two Issues Tied for #1:

A: We want more community interaction and responses to feedback.
B: We want less community interaction and more time spent producing changes.

I don't know, apparently they couldn't beta and work on a game at the same time...

This is the drawback of responding too much to people who aren't your equals. They start taking it for granted.
Would you rather them not take questions? I mean to be fair most of the questions the pat look into it answer came for were stupid questions.

How are they supposed to respond to stupid ideas or questions? Make fun of them like I would? They can't do that.

Just once I would love to see one respond with, "Really? You gotta be kidding me." That would be hilarious.

Well, they almost did with that motion capture one >.> 'Even stuck in a smiley. And it really was a daft question, especially given in this day and age you get more realism out of a properly scripted motion engine than a 'load one movement set, then break and load another' motion capture setup. ... Although FF XIV does really well covering the breaks, mostly.

I knew answers were gonna be vague, but after that Gathering Q&A, let's just say I have some choice words for them, but I'll just sum up how I feel about them based on what they say most often.

-There are no plans for this. (sdjflksdjflkdsjfds omg thanks)
-We will look into this (proof or it didn't happen)
-We spoke to -name drop- and he said this, which is also totally vague (thanks a lot)

I like it better when the reps just converse with us than when giving us terse vague answers. I don't want to dislike them, because its just their job, maybe they could go back to SE and tell them, we hate their vague answers more than no answers.

After 9 months of ambiguity, ambiguity tolerance is running dry no matter where you are.

Honestly, when I hear "We'll look into it," I see it as if they were saying "We hadn't thought of that before. I can't promise implementation, but there will at least be a discussion about it."

Now, when they say "There are no plans for...," that is like they are saying "Your idea will never reach the devs."

Anything that isn't a canned response usually hints that there has already been a discussion at least once.
