Multiple characters to avoid myth cap and coil lockouts

People who wanted to focus on DOW and DOM asked for job specific lockouts and myth caps, when they did not get a response they did the next best thing.

1. By leveling multiple characters using differing jobs, you have a weekly myth cap and coil lockout dedicated to each job.

2. Others who decided to level multiple jobs on a single character have only a singular myth cap and coil lockout.

3. This creates a problem where using the multiple job capability on a singular character becomes inferior to multiple character where gearing is concerned.

So basically as far as DOW and DOM are concerned people are finding a way around the caps, HENCE they serve no purpose if the people are serious about gearing said job.

Pretty much making a major advertised feature of the game useless.

Well of course they server a purpose.

You have to pay a higher subscription fee to do exactly what you describe. It's greed, pure and simple.

While I can understand why the Coil-lockout exists (bad loot design), the Myth cap serves absolutely no purpose.

I'm not sure about removing Coil lockouts. I can play a healer, get my stuff, make a party being a tank, ask for healer equipment (if they don't need those pieces) and so on. The problem here is that you people want to cap all your ilvl 90 equipment for all your classes. There's no content atm that would require a full ilvl 90 geared character either! Get over the cap, probably they will remove it (or make it higher) when new ilvl equipment is released.

If your legacy you pay cheaper and get all the benefits of the more expensive sub, my guess most doing this are legacy, but whats $2 when you can work on myth for every class. I'd hate to maintain several characters though >< i guess those that come from games that force you to reroll find it normal.

Arguably, you could gear yourself faster in Coil, if you're lucky enough, than to gear yourself in full Myth AF for one job. So both serve the same purpose.

I loathe both the caps and the lockouts but they are needed. It's a business move, of course. Don't know why is anyone surprised by that.... Us being able to actually enjoy what they produce is only a bonus. In the end, the customer decides what they'll do with their money. I'm not here because someone is holding a gun to my head, though.

All of your points are either pointlessly attacking "You People" or are mindlessly ignorant. What I stated above is facts, people are creating totally different characters to dedicate them to a singular class.

If they had done this at the start most of them would be at around 80% ilvl 90 geared. So again your entire attack and rant is pointless.

The logical question is, IF people are taking this route, what purpose are the myth caps and coil lockouts in their current form really serving.

Cap serves no purpose. Literally no purpose (other than forcing people to pay the higher subscription).

It doesn't make you gear any faster. All it does it create less content.

Why they opted for it I can only assume is really terrible foresight and MMO design.

The business idea is to force the player into coming back every week, most players will not want to "miss" a week due to the limit, if you stop you cant just come back and recover the missed myth. So you have to keep your sub open, you have to keep coming back and you have to keep capping out.

Unfortunately, this is an old model and while some do it (myself lol) a lot say "What is the point?", and quit.

If they had no limit, what would happen? Same thing as Darklight. Everyone has it in 1 week, have nothing to return to, and quit. Everyone could get full AF2 for all classes very quickly, go smash up Coil for w/e reason (probably wont be one unless you want to get BiS) and they'd finish that in a week and there would be nothing left.

Considering relic is so ez with no limit and CT will have iLevel 80 gear, I don't blame them, if you don't plan on doing coils (heck coils is doable with dark light.. maybe not Turn 5 but why bother with Turn 5 when you can get a +1 relic in 3 weeks, which is often better.) theres no point to worry about Myth for a lot of people.

You understand me wrong. I do not mean cap as in 300 cap, I meant the cap being limited to one character, rather than separate on a class by class basis.

Capping the main mode of gear is fine, but capping it on a character rather than a class by class basis is not. All it serves to do is give people less things to do and that's the biggest issue in the game, there is nothing to do.

oh, I did misunderstand you.

A cap per class would be nice.

Cap per class would then get people complaining that they're locked out of BC (on their main job) and their other jobs have nothing to do but do the boring myth grind. They'll proceed to demand that BC lockouts be per job, not per character. :3

Yeah, but at least I'd have something to do.

As it stands the game is pretty bare-bones in regards to things you can do and the cap just makes it worse.

Think of it this way.

FFXIV is just like any other MMORPG where you would use alts for different classes. What's different, is that those who are too lazy to level up new characters, can, for a penalty (i.e. the myth cap and dungeon lockouts), have their 1 character capable of being all the different classes.

If you want to get away from the cap and lockout, then just play FFXIV as if the job system doesn't exist. :3

(Note that if we subscribe long term we get Standard benefits at Basic rates.)

Problem with a seperate cap for each job they would need to change the myths to be specific for each job. Otherwise you could cap all and end up with 2400 tomes to spend on one job.

Easiest way, IMO, would be to have one cap of tomes for DoW and one for DoM. With different style of tome rewarded and needed to buy specific equip.
