I am not sure if SE did something or if they have moved to another game but this week I have only had a few gold spam messages and no one in town spamming.
Are you seeing the same on your servers?

It's gil, not gold.
I haven't had much time to play this week, but so far today I haven't seen any. ?_?
Now that you mention it, I haven't heard from one for a few days now! :)
Yeah when I play my toons I don't see any gold spam in the trade channel anymore.
For the Horde!!!
I was just about to make a post about this. Haven't seen or heard anything in the past few days? Quite glad about that tbh! Thanks SE!
I had more RMT tells yesterday than I've had on any day since moving to Famfrit a couple weeks ago. I haven't seen much shout spam on here, though, so that's good.
I'm still getting multiple tells a night from unique names, and my blacklist is almost full at this point. Only 2 of the entire list have ever been banned. Lamia server. Maybe they forgot about us?
Well, keeping fingers crossed, over the bast few days only had about 3 gil spam tells which is a MAJOR cutdown. And those were in cities.
I used to get from 5-10 tell from gold sellers but for the last week i got none... gotta say congrats to SE on that.
Those would be from the players that utilised the services of the aforementioned spammers. And then promptly lost control of their accounts. It's like a pyramid scheme and means the RMTs have no need to level new characters or generate awesome names like Adfsgf Afdes until they run out of stupid people to exploit.
If you're going to play a Final Fantasy MMO, you should learn it's terms. It's not proper to ask FFXIV to learn WoW etc terms. FF has been established for 25 years. It's terms does not change just because WoW got popular.
It's like moving to China and expecting everyone there to understand English, or to ask them to accommodate you by learning English. English is a bad example because it's an extremely common language amongst the world but you get my point. If you move away from English dominate countries to a country that has a different dominate language, they will expect YOU to learn their language.
If you want to maximize your FFXIV experience then you learn it's terms. If you don't then you have only yourself to blame when miscommunication happens, but I'm sure the other person will just get blamed anyway because we all know that we are never to blame. We know everything and are perfect angels and can do no wrong.
