New Cnj Job, or healing job in general

Acn has Smn and Sch. What should Cnj second job be? A second healing role, or a dps role? What other classes might be a good fit for a healing job?

Looking at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_F...character_jobs Sage, and Chemist pop out as healer jobs. Cleric has been a class in other games, and we already have the stance :p I really don’t know what Sage or Cleric would bring that’s different than Whm. Chemist could bring interesting game play with throwing potions? The could make Alc the secondary class required.

I don’t really think of Red mage as a healer, and certainly not Green, Blue, or Time mages. Red mage should have a sword – which might not fit under any of the DoM. Green, Blue, or Time might go well with Blm under Thm.

RDM will likely be the alt CNJ job in the future. Chemist seems more like an ACN job, honestly.

Wouldn't Geomancer be a better second job for conj? Just a makes sense since they already use nature attacks.

Yes. I think that would be more in line with the conj abilities and story line.

Given that Cnj have Stone, Aero, and Fluid Aura - Geomancer makes sense for the second Cnj job. I think Geomancer could use Cnj weapons also. Geo probably wouldn't be a healer though.

I feel like Red Mages need to have sword, which doesn't fit Cnj well, and I don't think Rdm should be a healer.

It's easy to list DPS and tank jobs we can expect, but I have a hard time guessing what the healers might be.

I'd say probably a DPS. When it comes to things having two jobs, I see them making classes have 1 DPS option and 1 tank or healer option.

Geomancer tank. Deep in your heart you know you want it.

I feel like releasing another tank Job might help with the duty finder waits more than anything. In general I assume they'd want to generally maintain the balance of typical party composition (1 tank 2 dps 1 healer) - so your idea of 1 dps option and 1 tank or healr option - the numbers work out perfect.

Muskateer has been on the horizon forever right? It seems like another DPS and a good fit for archer... but they have Brd which is dps. The FF universe seems like it needs the "support" archtype (Bard, Red Mage, Time Mage, Dancer).

I've read comments about Red Mage, and a stealthy scout class. But I haven't seen any mention of healer jobs.

DPS Sage (Sage in FF3 was esentially the ultimate Black/White Mage with the ability to use summons)? could have access to all CNJ's abilities, boost up potency on current offensive spells and add 5 new offensive utilities

second conj job should be Geomancer

a utility dps like bard. or a tank, whatever sense that makes.

I think the Geomancer would probably be the way to go for Conjurer, though with all the healing moves CNJ get i thought to myself "How will that work as a dps?" Though i thought perhaps they could implement a sort of Anti-Cleric stance where they can go into a healing stance, be a hybrid class. Where they COULD heal, however not be nearly as useful as an actual healer, but could help in a time of crisis. Sort of how Arcanist is full DPS until 30 then SCH gets a ton of Healing moves for their job. CNJ has mostly healing moves until 30 and then Geomancer would get a bunch of unique DPS moves. It's exciting thinking about it! Though i seriously doubt that would happen anytime soon.

Go the Monster Hunter route and have a Musketeer healing job that shoots people to life.

Introduce a new class "Oracle" (FFT reference "Yin Yang Magic") that branches off into Time Mage (Oracle 30 Arcanist 15) and Chemist (Oracle 30 Conjurer 15). Yes, I am proposing that they introduce support classes with emphasis on support as primary and healing as secondary. Chemist would be the stronger healer of the two, buffing items like potions and stuff by 100% and increasing duration of them.

Time Mage = Buff/debuffs/dots
Chemist = Heals/buffs

I'd love to see a job that requires cleric stance to be up for competitive dps and does support healing while cleric stance is down. Using just CNJ abilities and not WHM job abilities I think it could work out, perhaps with some tweaking or additional buffs/auras/etc.

I think Geomancer makes sense from CNJ as others have said. Be a mix of SCH and WHM using placed AoE.

Stonewall (players in area received n% damage while in area)
Healing Spring (players in area receive x ticks of HP while in area)
White Wind (removes one status ailment for players in area grants small HP amount)
Phoenix flame (rezzes players in area to full health + mana)
Elemental Shift (creates elemental resistance of _____ for players in area)

Naysayer: but there's always movement, like Titan. How can you account for that?

great question. certainly something I think worth thinking about. You could probably tweak cast and recast times to balance out the power of these spells.

Dancer? Maybe comes from Archer or Pugilist?

Surgeon. Comes from Marauder. They jab their axe into people to heal them and their healing skills affect the whole party. Tomahawk will be their main healing skill.

Sch and Whm are Healers that DPS... I see no reason we can't have Healers that Support. Chemist seems like a good bet for the next healer job. I imagine all healers will need to be capable of the healing role defined by duty finder.


I like the idea of Dancer as a Job somewhere too. For some reason I feel like Assassin could be the other Job coming from the same class. I guess it just seems to me like a lot of assassins in movies are dancing - so they share some common ground.

I think GEOmancer is the obvious choice for the secondary CNJ job, for obvious reason given their affinity for the elements. However, I think it would be pretty cool to have this job as a Tank role and grab enmity via healing. They could adjust Cleric's Stance to provide an enmity bonus while using heals (something at like a magnitude of 2x, similar to Defiance and Shield Oath) and have their own set of self targetted heals or regens as part of their job quests that generate increased enmity that combo off each other for higher enmity returns, and perhaps a few melee centric TP attacks to help get MP or HP back. Admittedly, something like that would be incredibly hard to balance but I think the idea as a whole would be fun to watch / implement.

Mm, I'd have to agree with Ghishlain. It seems really easy to make CNJ in to a tank class. I mean it is already easy enough for WHM to grab aggro. If you add enmity to their skills and some defense cds, they might do well as a tank.

Of course, you would have to severely nerf their heals. Maybe equipping the geomancer soulstone would cause cleric stance to put MND in to VIT and increase enmity. The remaining 5 class skills can be defense oriented. Just imagine: tank rushes in, medica2 a couple times, and the healer has an easier time handling healing with the added regen while mobs stick to the tank like glue. My biggest concern is balancing the healing and tanking so it does not become the preferred tank for speedruns.

That's why I put the intentional limit on having Cleric's Stance up. Not only does this nerf your MND, it also nerfs your heals by 20%. I was also thinking having Cleric's Stance provide a natural form of mitigation while it's active as CNJ armour is generally very light and would encourage people to stay in Cleric's Stance for both the mitigation and enmity increase (if they build it into this capacity). Having the trade off from MND <-> VIT instead of MND <-> INT sounds like a really nice idea too. I do worry though about that because, as demonstrated with SCH, they do want clear cut definitions of where to put your bonus stats points. If they allowed a MND <-> VIT trade off for Cleric's Stance, it would mean CNJs are full MND, any time. Still, as I mentioned before, I really like the idea.

Throw in some defensive CDs, one or two TP attacks that regenerate MP, and some selective heals with extremely high enmity generation with a high enough potency to worth a dang even with Cleric's Stance up and the nerfed MND (something like a 200 heal at like 5x Enmity) and go from there.

Just curious, but why do people assume that everyone is getting a second class? That could have been something unique to ACN.

Anyway, I'd rather any new Jobs come with all new baseline classes tbh because Jobs are pretty much identical to the baseline Class. Difference between CNJ and WHM is pretty small when looking at their kits. Getting a Geomancer that plays nearly identically to a WHM in Cleric Stance? No thanks.

Give all new classes to go with all new Jobs plz.

I believe Yoshi-p said classes will all have two jobs attached to them, just Arcanist was the first.

I don't think you need that much of a high potency heal or as many specialized attack spells as you suggest Ghishlain. Having the cleric stance changed to MND->VIT suggests that the class will prioritize at least MND. This means the job can output a lot of healing and potentially switch between healing and tanking on a dime. There is nothing stopping the tank from pre-casting medica2 regen on the party and then switch stance to increase defense before a pull. All those awful things WHM can do to pull aggro with regen are now useful ways for the tank to aoe aggro. And there is nothing stopping the tank from drawing more aggro by continuing to switch between stances later (except perhaps defense and hp). They also come prepared with considerable damage mitigation (graniteskin with tank hp) and regen. They can honestly be tanky enough as is with only a raw increase in hp and armor (which can be heavy).

Anyway, let's leave the discussion on CNJ tanks to the other threads and focus on possible healing jobs. I think we can all agree that its unlikely for CNJ to have another healing job branch out from it, although they will definitely make use of CNJ cross-class skills. My money is on a pugilist/conjurer/??? "dancer" job, which can have many support abilities if they allow players to cross-class the cure series, medica, and raise. My concern with that idea though is to wonder how the CNJ class might support the healing role without being completely mandatory.

As the only healing "class", CNJ will likely be mandatory for any healing job much like it was for SCH and WHM (yes I know CNJ is WHM base, still mandatory). The trick to getting a 3rd healing job is requiring it to fulfill the healing role in and of itself. I can definitely see a PUG/CNJ mix creating a DNC job and essentially a melee class front-line healer. The tricky part is developing a healer that can fulfill it's required roll single-handedly (walk into AK with a party of average i60s and complete), and still be enough of a powerhouse that it doesn't get completely overshadowed by the current healer combo in party scenarios.

What will Thm second job be? Sage Could be like Blm/Whm? I've seen A thread that suggest Blm already has potential as a healer given it's mana.

For a new healer class, they should make one of Musketeer's jobs be like the Cannoneers from Final Fantasy Tactics A2.
