Just Started

Well, just started back up.

So far, I need a lot of work. I'm in dire need of a good grinding place, as well as gil.

If anyone can give me tips as a Archer for situations like this, I would appreciate it. :)

Also, my physical level is 3 as well.

I just been doing every quest i can. i believe u can do 16 quests every 36 hours the local leves and regional leves. you can find those quests at adventures guild. I live in gridania though and dont know if its the same for everyone.

Don't do regional leves until 23+ when you can grab the rank 30 leves. Before then, grinding mobs & doing behest will rip you through 1-20 relatively quickly, 1-20 can easily be done in a 3-5ish hour sitting. Go to the rank 1 & rank 10 camps for Behests. You'll also want to level all your other classes to 20 to gain their abilities and be able to earn marks for them so you can purchase their "traits". For example, Lancer's trait allows you to run faster with your weapon drawn, Pugilist allows you to receive 10% more healing, etc. But if I were to suggest the first ones, get CON & THM up first for Sac II & Cur II plus your protects, shells, etc. And then work on classes that will assist your damage output, like Lancer & Pugilist. Also look through the threads here in this forum, a lot of this information is already available.

Doing leves is the best you can do from day 1 you can get 1-12ish doing the 8 leves within 2-3 resets you be level 20. I did the behest thing and kill mobs it took forever just to get 15 when i reroll again i did the leves and got 1-18 in about 1day.

cool so i am doing it right lol cuz i think the leves are awesome and ive been ranking everything up

lol once you do them 50000 time you be like ; ;anything else to do but the same leves over and over again.

it's only fun when you playing with someone else :) that why i don't know how the ppl who solo don';t get bored of ffxiv

This isn't really true, leves are viable, but you can reach 1-8 alone with one or two Behests (taking one hour *give or take* of gameplay) at the first camp you reach, and grinding mobs/doing behest in between at the rank 10 camp will launch you to 16 within an hour or two as well. Considering there is 36 hours between resets, simply doing leves will take you several days to reach 20. Grinding out Behest in the early stages is your best bet to rank quickly. I have all DoW/DoM classes at 20+, trust me, SAVE your leves, use a few for rank 20 leves to push you to 23 then grab the rank 30 leves. Also you'll want to look into leve-linking and see how that works. It's basically a way for you to increase the SP/EXP gained from leve mobs by joining a group of other players. Although, with the current game state this is sometimes a problem.

Like I said, you can easily reach rank 20 with a good 3-5 hour sitting by doing Behest/grinding mobs at the first camp, doing the same at the second camp, and then doing leves/behests at the 3rd camp. I'm not sure on what your camps would be if you started in Gridania or Limsa Lominsa, but for Ul'Dah, your first camp will be Black Brush, then Drybone, then Horizon.

But :) no need to fight you have your way of playing and i have mine leves are better then sitting around doing behest i only do behest with the time come but doing leves are the best way to level and if you have friends to do them with even better you get max level in no time.

Don't get me wrong, doing leves is by no means a wrong way to do things, that's what they are there for. However, if you want to rank quickly and efficiently, saving your leves for when you need more SP rather than less SP, is the best bet. If you use all 8 of your leves today, and you reach 16+ you'll be at a crossroads and -have- to grind mobs and do Behest for the next 30-odd hours. If you grind/behest your way to 20-ish, you have all 8 leves waiting for you at that rank to boost you further, plus the higher your rank, the more likely you are to run into other players leve-linking, etc.

Well you tell me there's no need to fight while at the same time telling me your method is better and that mine is wrong. So I will end the conversation here, and let the OP do their own testing/research.

OP, I'd strongly suggest you heed my words, and good luck to you. Also, try shouting in your server's towns for a Social Linkshell to join. Because of the state of the game, a lot of the social LSs have some higher ranked players who can guide you through most of the game, and depending on if they have a class at your rank, sometimes join in with you.

Zen, I have a character on Selbina as well (not my main). Come rank with me sometime and we'll test out our theories. :P

I think a good way is to start off @ uld. You can kill the marmots and dob there till you are about r10-12 depending if you have any sub-job after which you can go to north of camp horizon where the spiky rocks are and start killing bees and dob. You can mix in behest every 30 mins and hopefully with everything done right, you can ding r20+ pretty fast
