Square's released what they said they would the disappointment was from the NA expecting a massive content from a mini patch... you know the a.b.c patches which never have a lot of content.
Honestly I expect nothing until sometime next week. Then I expect more company updates.
Then that would make them lying then if they did that, 1.17b is excusable because they didnt say what was going to be contained.
Patch 1.18 was explained for the most part what was going to be in the Patch, and could be more who knows, point is.. To keep their Promies to us " Everything on the list from Letter from Producer X is planned to be on the game by the end Summer of 2011" and thats alot of work to implement in a span of 3 months.
So Right now with that being said, I expect alot of new things in Patch 1.18
would hazard a guess that we will see another addition to the company page regarding the other dungeon(s?) some time soonish. but i seriously doubt we will see any thing on the front page of the lodestone this week.
June starts next week, so maybe sometime after June starts we will hear something regarding the dungeons or Grand Companies before the patch. Knowing SE, they'll throw us a few clues and we'll try to figure it out.
Ending up completely wrong in the end. :P
If we get anything itl show up late sunday night
but i doubt it, we will more then likely get something next week instead
That bolded line isn't exactly true.
What they told us was that the list in the Letter from the Producer showed their plans up until the end of the Summer. Now, look over the list very carefully and note the wording. Anything that says, under the Current Tasks, 'Implementation, Additions, Changes, Introduction, Revisions, or Adjustments' we should get over the course of the Summer. Most likely also anything that doesn't have any Future Tasks associated with it.
However, anything that talks about 'Development, Examination, Planning, Devising, Design, Analysis, Finalization, Revision, or Establishment' bears no promise to be done during the Summer, because the implementation of those all falls under the Future Tasks category, and you may notice that 'Implementation', or one of the other prior words, is a key word for those items in the Future Tasks :).
So honestly, there isn't a 'massive' amount of content that they need to get out in the next few months.
He was clarifying 'when', not 'what'. Debate had been all over as to whether his 'plans until summer 2011' line meant by the beginning of Summer or by the end of Summer.
Items Listed meaning his letter planning ( generally meaning Leaning towards) "by the end of summer"
In all fairness, the items I referred to as being the ones they plan to implement could well be what is coming in patch 1.18, their next planned patch and thus coinciding with their Current Tasks. Since that's hitting in mid-late June, there's still a good two months of Summer after that for them to move on to Future Tasks. So who can say :).
But hey, I'm with you in hoping that we do see it all by August-Sept!
I don't see the logic here.
They already told
A) they're going to release bi-monthly patches
B) they're working as fast as they can to produce new content
C) they're going to release companies in the beginning of the year
and D) they're priority is to follow through on those promises.
As far as I'm concerned they've already let me down in every one of those area's and thus to expect them to suddenly make a it up by doing something un-expected would be pretty naive of me.
I'll wait and see but I expect nothing more than the disappointments this game has offered me thus far. I never expected a patch to be so small it wouldn't be worth downloading but they proved me wrong on that one too.
Part of me is expecting a miracle but all common sense tells me it's not going to happen.
Uh... maybe? Here's a picture of the book you tell me...
Yeah they did say the 'earliest' date would be mid-june, but not the definite date. It is subject to change just like everything else... -. -
yeesh.. could have been a simple yes or no. Not like you can google it. its a picture..
Forgot they said earliest. lol Well time to go into Doubt Mode!Quote:

Well, in their defense, they usually do not even mention a month unless they are pretty sure. I can't say we can bank on that, but they know that disappointing us anymore isn't good for them. =p I'm sure they're doing all they can to have it going in mid-june.
I just love to know why you hang around when all you think is.. SE is basically a "f***" up It just boggles my mind
Yeah, Eldaena why do you hang around.
I hang around because I saw potential I still see potential though its getting blurry, plus Square is a mess just square, Enix is fine they don't go around making a mess of their franchise Dragon Quest.
Of course. I wouldn't stay around because I hate the game. Inefficiency does drive me a bit mad though. =p
In all honesty, I probably wouldn't be playing at this time if I didn't have friends that I enjoy doing the mundane tasks of FFXIV with. Being with them is what makes the tasks enjoyable, not the tasks themselves. If I didn't have my ls and such, I probably would be on hiatus from this game until it looked a bit more promising.
That doesn't mean I hate the game. That doesn't mean my dry/sarcastic stab at SE's 'subject to change' policy on just about everything doesn't mean I hate the game. I'm trying to be hopeful and optimistic too.
Edit:
But I'm not going to pretend that the game was ready to go at release. And I'm not going to pretend that the disappointment that I have, that the game won't be where it should have been at launch until a year later, isn't real and valid.
I try to make the best of the situation, and inbetween, I poke fun at it and laugh. What else can I do? lol
Quite simply, the level of potential behing XIV and SE's announced plans for the game is stunning, we simply have to wait and see if certain features turn out as we hope.
And SE's not a 'bad' company, I think their past history just causes high expectations. Well, and current status really, as they still do just fine on the single-player end.
Fact is though, SE is still a fledgeling company when it comes to MMO's, or any sort of online gaming that involves lots of community involvement. FFXI really didn't affect them as a company very much, as it was overshadowed by all of their console hits and never reached very far beyond a niche market, especially in the states.
So yeah... we'll see how things go :).
Probably towards players like me. And yes I wonder the same thing. Waiting for XIV to turn around is like loving an abusive boyfriend. I love Final Fantasy games. I even waded through that XIII-pool of casual feces because the graphics at least were great. IX is one of my favorite games of all time. Is it any wonder that I have a tiny tiny hope of XIV having at least small bits of greatness that are worth waiting for?
Also, to note Yoshi-P is really pushing to get all this out by the the end of summer. He BOLDED (typo) but, End of summer 2011 TWICE. He sounds persistent. I know your guys are getting restless because the content isnt there. but Yoshi-P in 3-4 months time he has something developed, basically going threw the "Test Test Test Stage" . If you Read his letter.. I really can feel the Passion that he wants to get this out before the end of summer.
I believe in Yoshi-P, Don't put him down just yet Give him till the end of the summer before yelling complaints.
Bad community= Foundation of Game could crumble underneath them and us.
And also, SE fault as well (mostly Wada's) that made things go this long without Content, if it wasnt for the switch we could have had loads of content right now probably. but that's not Yoshi=P's Fault. Just give him a chance without ridicule him >.<
Oh I absolutely believe they'll put 'something' out, potentially even everything they intend and plan to.
I just don't believe it's that entire list :).
They've had time and they have more yet, we'll get more stuff.
Yeah, they could really focus on projects before release instead of just working on several and releasing when 'eh, it seems fine.' I would like to see more masterpieces and I honestly think that would make more money than filler/lackluster/under-construction games that I've been seeing recently. Do you think that Wada's intention for the company is to thin out as much as possible and become financially successful because they have their fingers in several cookie jars? I hope he doesn't just look to the past successes as simply a means to a financial gain, but as a reminder to where they came from and where maybe they should be going. We know they have the finances, people, etc...the quality of the games should be in the forefront of their minds to success. Thinking of it this way makes me feel as if it's almost unacceptable that this game was released the way it was. I know this is a lot of negativity, and I'm trying to be hopeful, but I need to be realistic too.
