Limit Break [please learn when to use it or tell others when to]

*boss gets to 20-25% health, a few people dead, and everyone low on health*

The ones left standing yells out "Monk use LB!"

Me [Monk] knowing that we'll probably wipe told them I'll use it when it's right [1 shot kill or save it].

They all responded "Just use it!"

I'm like okay...*uses LB on boss, down it to 10% health*

Seconds later we wipe. Wasted a LB. Everyone then proceeds to get mad.

This happens so often in CM and AK. Some people just can't calculate on when to use it on bosses for 1 shot kill or to save it since the party is going to wipe :confused:

Don't know how this goes for other jobs but have anyone else experience a lot of these lately?

Hmm stop running CM. And get better people at AK. I can't see why you would need LB in AK at all. Last night I ran with two bards who weren't as geared and managed fine.

Theres no point "saving" it if a wipe is imminent since LB bars gets reset upon death, asking you to use the LB is a last ditch effort to burst down the boss before they wipe...

I don't think that's always the case, because after wiping on Garuda HM we still had two bars full and I potentially could've used Starstorm to kick off the fight. The bars empty as soon as the primal gets pulled though.

If you used the LB before the argument, or thought to use it without being told you possibly would have won.

This would not have changed the scenario as a Monk. Had the OP been a healer or tank, then maybe that would have made a difference.

for easy content you should use LB as much as possible whenever its up, you fill up the bar pretty fast later on anyway.

for hard contents like primal HM there are specific points where an LB are saved for ie: kill nails, adds, heart..etc

On some boss LB will reset after pull and some will not reset.

If you start the encounter with it empty, it won't fill fast enough to easily dispatch the bees. But if you don't use it, it'll stay full on your next try.

In a normal dungeon this is true, for a primal fight, it's not. This is likely what they are referring to. Basically if you wipe and your group ends up in the starting circle again, it will reset when you pull. Otherwise it stays.

Guess I'm not the only one who does that. Unless there's a specific reason to use it (like Titan's heart) I'll sit on the LB until I'm sure it will kill or almost kill the target. If a wipe is imminent and the target isn't near death it's a lot more conducive for the healers or even the tanks to cast it if able, but there's always that one guy who insists one of the melee use it. The DD Limit Break is really lacking as an "oh shit" button compared to the tank and healer versions that can literally save a wipe. It's more of a "Hey, let's shave a few seconds off a boss that's already about to die" type deal. Which is perfectly fine, but it can get irritating having people demand that you LB in a situation where it wont help at all. I can't begin to count how many times I've used Final Heaven at high health at the behest of the party and the immediately run into a situation where the healer L3 would have been much more useful.

I understand that saving the LB is sometimes needed for the fight, like the Ifrit nails, but I don't understand people who insist on saving it for the last minute on bosses where it doesn't matter.

So many times I've seen DPS not use LB on the first boss of AK until the last second, or sometimes not at all. Either you do the damage now, or do the damage in two minutes when he's about to die. The only difference is you could have been recharging the LB gauge for the entire boss fight.

The only time I have this problem is in Darkhold. Last boss the second bar usually fills before or right after the last crystal is destroyed. If someone is adamant about me using it right away (as long as the last crystal is gone) I'll go ahead and do it. But I much prefer to wait until he's at least at 20% because he tends to get more aggressive the lower his HP.

Other bosses are like this too. Also wonder why people tell me to LB the first or second boss in a dungeon when it will only save the party 30 seconds and is better off saved in case of something going wrong.

EDIT b/c person above me brings up a good point: My last comment is about people who tell me to LB when a boss like Locksmith or the second Darkhold boss has a sliver of HP left.

Actually, it does matter. Some bosses have phases where they're a lot more difficult to beat during that phase than others. If you LB during that phase, you have to be in the 'harder' phase for a shorter amount of time. Doing LB early simply causes you to get to the harder phase faster.

Usually, I don't because I forget about it.

... yes, I'm horrible at DDing.

I also don't always LB on the first boss in AK, because we get to him quickly enough that the LB bar isn't full until a point in the fight that using it would actually be slower. By this I mean the animation for it would take longer than using the 2-3 abilities needed to finish him off, and he's dead about the time the big golem spawns anyway. Now if I could get it off in time to prevent the first guy from summoning the 2nd one (not the golem, the one that summons the golem, psychflayer I think...) then that would be great and I would definitely use it.

This. For those who misunderstand me I say CM/AK [dungeons]...not Primal fights. For me, most of the time our LB will stay at 1 bar if we wipe.

Oh so much this. So many groups will save it so that it kills the boss (and almost always is overkill, wasting a chunk of the damage). Some groups will actually save it for the entire dungeon until they get to the last boss, when they could just use it on every single boss and still have a full bar for the end.

CM and AK need LB? wut

This only applies to certain bosses in 8-man instances. Your LB bar does not reset in 4-man dungeons or unimportant bosses like all bosses before the last boss in CM (or last 2 if you consider her as 2 bosses).
