So Odin spawned almost 72hr hour ago so I had the window narrowed down from 7:30pm 11/12/13 from then till 2:30am. I decided to step out for 20min and he spawns and gets killed....
This is just awful.. He always spawns either when I'm asleep, at work or apparently when i'm afk.
I just want the Barding, I'm willing...just let me actually have a GD chance.
EDIT: About to sub my 3rd month and I have a grand total of 1 mantle

It took me 2 1/2 years to get Lizzy's boots in FFXI. I must have killed her 200 times before they finally dropped.

I use to camp Lizzy alot. Got the drop like 2 times in my 3 years of playing. The week before XIV came out, I reactivated my FFXI account and first thing I did was camp Lizzy. I got the boots again went to camp Emperor, killed him didn't get the drop. Went to Jueno and loged out of the game. Have never went back again.

You as well as most people probably want that particular piece of companion equipment due to its novelty factor rather than the looks. You do understand that by making it more easily available undermines that very aspect of the item, right?
People in MMOs always want to show themselves off in various ways and be unique at least in some sense. I personally think it's fine that some of the items would be very difficult to get because of this. With everything progression-related being as linear as it is on ARR people are already struggling to be something more than just another [Insert job here] amongst the masses.
Then again the massive campfest that Odin and Behemoth are feel really silly. For the current system to work properly the world (as one option) would probably need to be bigger and a little bit less instantly accessible, and a good deal more of these rare NM type monsters should be added in. -

However, before I even consider what item I want as a reward I have to overcome 2 hurdles: actually being able to participate in the fate when its spawn time is random and the incapability of getting gold regardless of what you do. More than any item reward I just want my achievements for those two fights.Quote:

I really really wish these two FATEs were made into server instances, like Chimera and Hydra. Either that or make them spawn more often and at better times. The first time I completed Odin, I was throwing DoTs and him and just doing some AoE healing because it was SO laggy. Somehow, I got silver doing that. However, he spawned the other day and I was there doing much concentrated DPS as SCH with Cleric Stance, while throwing out AoE heals again. Bronze. I was there for the whole fight, did a lot of healing, kept my DoTs up. I do not understand how you are supposed to get Silver and Gold?
Behemoth spawned once. I could not see him, empty screen. AoE still killed me. Stood beneath him and he flickered on and off the screen as I moved around. I got the Behemoth Horn but rewards look EXACTLY like the CE Barding. What is the point?
The FATE system is very unreliable if you are not a DPS in a GROUP. If you come along just to HEAL your group (and people are always asking for healers) you get nothing as well. This shocked me. Why penalize someone for trying to be a team player and keeping their FATE group alive? -

The first time I faced Odin I hadn't "optimized" my display, so I couldn't see him. He kept popping in and out so by the end I got bronze.
The second and third time I faced him none of my attacks registered. I was hitting him from the start to the end of the battle, not one DoT landed, not one skill that gives me a buff actually triggered. I watched my skills report damage but none of them appeared to affect his HP and by the end I scored Bronze again. It's hard enough to find a target you can hit without it vanishing even with all effects turned off, but couple that with the fact when you CAN see the target none of your attacks count and the whole event becomes pointless unless he spawns on top of you and you're first to hit him. -

DOT's are best anyway since the average consensus is that you only see the World Bosses for about 5 seconds before they disappear for up to 30 seconds.
As for Behemoth, unless you're a Tank honestly I don't recommend going close. Due to the way the game works is you can only hit enemies if you can see them (Meaning AoE spam won't hit them unless you see them), but they can hit you (because they can always see you)
DOT's will remain if you can't see the boss because they're then registered on the enemy itself (server side), so you just need to throw the initial dot on them then if they vanish you're still ticking points.
Sadly the best thing I can say for Behemoth is to keep your distance and use any ranged attacks whenever it appears, which is hard since you need to be close... close enough to be cleaved >< -

The issue with relying on DoTs is that all mobs can only have 2 bars of debuffs and DoTs are considered a debuff. With my experience as a SMN, I am finding it hard to even maintain one DoT on Odin due to everyone spamming theirs on it along with other debuffs. He can appear for me the entire duration of the fate and I can never apply my DoTs, honestly I think this needs to change for classes that rely on DoTs for damage. A mob has 2 full bars of debuffs so I can't attack him? I get why they put it at 2 bars, I do but it is just frustrating trying to do Behemoth and Odin for SMN (And maybe bards due their Bloodletter reset) because DoTs will virtually never be on there. 2 SMN DoTs require a cast, the other is instant but has a huge delay effect due to animation and we are competing with classes that each have 2 DoTs and are instant. (Disregarding cnj and thm without thundercloud) Spamming Ruin + Garuda doesn't even give remotely enough contribution to even hit bronze.

i tend to spend my time rezing all the dead. i may be underleveled for the FATE, but those who get rezzed are greatful since i do count toward a min bronze for the party for the 20+ rezzes i do with Odin and Behe, not to mention the AOE heals and shields and the like.
