Monk fist weapons

Is there anyway to just rock your fists? I've always found fist weapons that stick a foot off your hands to be rather stupid.

Yeah our weapons are kind of odd. We get punching dagger style weapons but use them like we are wearing boxing gloves. To top it off they are so far away from the fists themselves they dont feel like they have any impact as a weapon.

Almost forgot. But no we dont get to use our fists by themselves.

People keep mentioning Vanity slots, or items. Do you think we will be able to slot over our weapons?

Monk suppose to...looks weird by default?

I'm just depressed the relic weps don't ROAR, when you take them out.

I assume you mean the Baghnakhs? They're claws so...
There's the Fists of Crags and Murderous Mogfists though.

I would prefer some knuckles or bare fist. Some MMO rule that all weapons must get bigger and bigger as you level.

What are you talking about? Monk weapons look amazing. Especially garuda's and relic.

But thinking back to when I played ff tactics, monks only used their fists and nothing else if I'm not mistaken.

At least the Hora-type weapons are a lot closer to traditional knuckledusters or Tekko. However, I do agree that most of the weapons are flat out designed in very unconventional ways that would only serve to diminish or completely destroy the power of an actual punch, not to mention how the characters actually swing them. Maybe if they didn't sit so far from the hands and arms they would look less silly. Like for the Sphairai your hands are actually inside of the coeurl heads like gloves (and you can actually operate the jaws!) instead of gripping impractical-looking handles a foot from the weapon.

Normally I wouldn't care because SE has always gone with that looks flashy or cool instead of being practical, but as it stands Pugilists/Monks currently look very awkward.

I completely forgot about Garuda's Talons. Now those are a Monk weapon done right. They fit over the hands and the claws pop out in a badass manner when you draw them. The Sphairai should have been similar.

I remember a discussion like this back in 1.0, and they replied it's difficult from a technical standpoint making them applied on the fists. Don't remember because, but was related to the armory system

the claws 50 from gridania GC are nice too

I wish. At least make Monks have gloves or I would even take hand-wraps as weapons. The relic weapon on MNK's look clunky the +1's look okay because they glow and the Allagan's are probably the best they've got going for them.

I already have those; you could get them at the King Mog fight in 1.x. Now, if I only had a level 50 monk...

In FFXI, Monks could fight bare-fisted. In fact, they started out that way; newly created Monk characters got a +1 STR belt instead of the weapon every other class got. You wanted to upgrade to a Hand-to-Hand weapon as soon as possible, though. FFXIV can't do that because of the Armory system. Since your primary weapon/tool defines your class, you must always have one equipped. If you Monk could go bare-fisted, he wouldn't be a Monk. He wouldn't be anything.

Well, as someone already mentioned, they could easily just make a wep that uses a gloves model. We already have gloves, just copy/paste that stuff in a wep file and save as XD

Personally, I like the claws, but it's just that they feel...flimsy. They should at least be braced against my chars arms or sum. The dumbest monk wep I've seen is the avengers...seriously, wtf. Probly done by the same guy who thought up monks DL pants as subligar shorts would look badass...

Well vanity slot are coming soon. Hopefully youll be able to hide fist weapons though i doubt it. Im hoping theyll add a fist weapon vanity item thats just invisible or at most fist wraps. Push come to shove we can always just use one of the lower level brass knuckles which dont look so bad.

That is .... assuming they even allow weapon slot vanity items....

Too bad we can't use just our fists with the hide weapon option in the paperdoll.
