Suggestion's on what to do next

Hi, I'm new to FF14 and I'm about to hit lvl 50 on my LNC. I'm wondering what I should focus on next. Gonna go lvl MR in order to turn into a dragoon but after that rly dont know what i should do first.

Would like some suggestions on:
-What gathering and crafting classes should i lvl up?
-Which armour set should i go for next and where do i get them?

In general just looking to get everything i need on my soon to be dragoon for a good end-game experience :)

Lv. MRD to 15 = DRG ... most players will level main job up to 20 >>>> then sub job to 15 so you can use sub job actions for your main >>>then back to main hit 30 BOOM dragoon,then continue on to Lv. 50

after that as far as crafting goes its up to you

example: if you choose carpenter you may wanna level up botanist so you can collect your own materials..Also DoH will allow you to meld materia.......or blacksmith so you can repair your own gear to a certain extent..and so on

this is just a general explanation maybe others will elaborate a bit more,but hope this helped a bit

any thing that i might need to make stuff needed for end game pve? like food armour etc

Mm, I'd have to agree with Pendragon. I would suggest you take the time to level marauder and pugilist for some cross-class skills.

First to actually become a Dragoon, you will need to level marauder to level 15. As you are now, the highest tier of gear you can get is ilvl60 (from AK runs). End-game content will require you to actually wear more powerful gear, and that means the Dragoon class. If you have been doing your class quest (completely different from story quest), you should have been prompted to level other classes at level 10 and informed about your dragoon job at 30. If you haven't reached that far, I would suggest you talk to your guildmaster at the Lancer Guild in Old Gridania and finish your level 5 and 10 quests to change classes. It should be relatively easy with your gear now.

Once you've done that, you can obtain the marauder class in Limsa Lominsa's coral tower. Level up your marauder to 15 (you can avoid the class quests if you like), and then go talk to your lancer guild master again. If you have completed the level 30 class quest from him and have marauder to 15, you will be given a quest to seek our your new dragoon trainer. You will talk to that trainer from now on for all future dragoon class quests.

If you are willing to level those classes, I might even suggest marauder to level 22 for mercystroke to help you solo better. As a DPS, will also want to level pugilist to 12 for the increased crit buff. It'll help a lot with your damage.

For crafting, you will want carpenter to help you obtain your relic weapon. You can also just buy the pre-requisite weapon from the auction houses and pay someone to meld it for you. Botany and mining will provide for the majority of carpentry crafts and you can always sell the excess materials on the market. Ideally, as a crafter, you should be leveling all crafting and gathering classes together as they synergize very well and will cut down on material costs for you. But it does require some patience to work that out. Fortunately as a dps, you spend a fair amount of time queuing for dungeons for side activities like these.

For some reason neither of u read that i said i am going to lvl MRD to lvl 15 than go dragoon. I already know that step, jesus >.< Just haven't gone dragoon yet because the bigger the lvl gap is between classes the bigger exp bonus i get on the lower lvl class. So im just going 50 first on my main since it seems fairly easy than goin to lvl MRD which is needed for dragoon.

Ummm..i did read your post,and was trying to help is all.I read that you leveled LNC>50 and you were gonna start MRD.How you level is your prerogative so i'm very sorry for even trying to contribute anything positive..

Mm, I am sorry about making that assumption. So please forgive me for any insult made. I just wanted to be as thorough as possible.

Anyway to clarify, having a level 50 means you do level all classes faster. It is frankly just a 50% bonus to all leves and fates xp for any class lower than your highest level one (dragoon). You get the same bonus if you were to level a marauder to 15 while having dragoon at 44. You just lose the bonus the moment your marauder is the same level as your dragoon. Having a lvl50 character just means you get that bonus all the way until lvl 50. BTW, I have not noticed this benefit applying to crafting classes and I'm not sure about gathering.

Also, if you are looking to craft armor, be aware that the crafted armor is not actually equivalent to the darklight sets unless they are both HQ and slotted with materia. This means they can cost quite a lot of money (rather than just tokens) unless you're fairly high level in many crafting classes. The benefit of being able to customize your stats is useful for some classes (notably scholars who want more crit than spell speed/determination in the gear), dragoons get their own darklight armor set and accessory set (darklight of maiming) with near-ideal attributes. So there is less benefit in the armor than the weapon for you.

For a weapon, the usual way is to farm one of the primals until you get your weapon. The hardest fight before your relic is Titan so you will be gearing for that. You will want a garuda or ifrit weapon and a near complete set of darklight (some AK pieces may be okay) for it. The biggest concern is having over 3200hp (bare minimum) to survive the area aoe and the damage to kill Titan's Heart before Titan ultimates. If you have a garuda or better, you may be called on to LB for your group. The rest of the fight relies heavily on the healers and simply dodging the aoe.

Yeah you're about 20 levels late for when you should have tried to unlock DRG. For all future classes/jobs, aim to get it right at 30.

Despite what the game tells you, you get the 50% bonus even if your highest class/job is only 1 lvl higher. It does NOT scale based on lvl gap. Even if it did, it's not a valid excuse to not unlock a job considering how massive of a bonus it is to use a job over a class.

Here's all the job skills you've been missing by not unlocking DRG. Not to mention a massive stat boost.

Hello Anul, hopefully I can be of some help as well. Since it does look like you are unlocking your Dragoon I will progress past that step. For endgame gear there are two routes you can go.

1) Darklight - While being the cheaper of the two routes gear wise its not exactly the most time friendly one. Completing runs like Amdapor Keep will net you philosophy tombstones. You can use these tombstones to buy gear that will be a good start to allow you to look at starting endgame. Not to mention if you farm AK for these tombstones you can work on getting some decent gear to use until you get full Darklight.

2) Crafted Gear- There are high level crafted gear you can get as well. These you can get one of two ways: A) Buy them off the Market Boards however these are exactly friendly on the gil; or B) Farm up the mats needed (most use materials purchased using philosophy tombstones) and find/pay a crafter willing to craft them for you.

As a level 50 Dragoon myself I opted for the 1st method. As for a weapon for your DRG Duty Finder or find a group doing Ifrit/Garuda runs and try to get the weapon drop from there. You can try for relic as well but you will find you will want an Ifrit/Garuda weapon anyways while working to finish off the relic quests.

As for your crafting question, I would recommend getting all the crafts to at least 15 first. Most of them wont take you more than an hour or two to get that high. This will be helpful as just like DoW jobs you can get the cross class abilities from each of these. From there if you found one craft you liked more than the others you already solved your problem as to which one to level. If not I would suggest one of the following:

Goldsmithing (Will be able to fix/meld to most accessories)
Armorer (Will be able to fix/meld most of the gear you will be wearing)
Carpenter (is the crafted used to fix/meld some spears)

Another reason for these crafts is because most of the synths you will do to level up either mining or botany will allow you to farm up all your own mats easily. If your looking to make money through crafting just watch the Market Boards on your server. See what sells for a good price at a decent rate and just figure out which craft was used to make it. Hope this all helped!

Ok, first off: If you're going to level any gatherers/crafters, I'd say raise them all, except possibly culinarian and fisher. Crafting benefits GREATLY from using cross-class actions, and most recipes require things made from other classes (Like a blacksmith recipe that needs cloth and lumber for the grip), with the exception being culinarian (Most culinarian recipes just use other items made with culinarian). As for gatherers, you'll need both mining and botany to level your crafts. Most fish do not currently have a use, and of those that do, I can think of only a few that aren't used for culinarian.

That said, I do recommend leveling those as well if you have the time. You may want to level them up eventually, and the ability to share the same armor as all your crafters and gatherers means you can save yourself the hassle of getting the gear a second time (Or hanging onto it).

Now, as far as gear to get next, I recommend the level 55 Militia set. Get it HQ. While you're doing this, feel free to do Wanderer's Palace as well for the tomestones you'll need later, and you can snag Sipahi gear if you like (It's also level 55). I generally prefer the militia set, as you can spiritbind it into materia when you replace it. Oh, and snag your relic quest and work on it as you go. You'll need an extra level 55 crafted weapon, so just snag a cheap normal quality one for that.

Got your 55 gear? Feel confident with your level 50 playing abilities? Go ahead and beat Chimera for your relic, and start running Amdapor keep. You're looking for the Heitaros gear, which is the level 60 lancer gear. Once you get Amdapor Keep done for your relic, go on and beat Hydra as well. As a last part of this phase, you should be able to beat Ifrit Hard in the 55 gear, and hopefully get a level 60 weapon.

At this point, you hit a farming phase. You'll want most of your Heitaros gear, once you build up philosophy tomestones you can snag darklight for whatever pieces you're missing. Hopefully you can get Ifrit's Lance as well. Also, at this phase, keep an eye out for AK gear or Ifrit drops that you can use on other jobs. If nobody else needs them (And DO ask first), go ahead and lot on them. You get get the AK and Ifrit stuff for your other jobs and essentially jump right to this phase on them.

Ok, got most of your gear 60+? Great. Time to go tackle Garuda. She's not that difficult for a decent party, and drops your level 70 weapon. If you were a healer, I'd say you could proceed on with just Ifrit's... sadly, you're not, and it's important that you upgrade your weapon. In the meantime, get philosopher's tomestones to get the rest of your darklight set.

Got Darklight? Got a level 70 weapon (or level 60 and feel you have a damn good group to make up the difference)? It's time to tackle Titan. Sadly, his drops are also level 70 despite him being much harder than Garuda, so there's no real need to farm him. Just kill him once, and then 900 philosophy tomes later you'll have your relic. If you have 900 mythology tomestones as well, you can +1 your relic, which is perhaps the most important thing to do. Then it's just more mythology tomestones and Binding Coil to work on your level 90 gear. Or gear up more jobs in the meantime.

Never heard of anyone NOT getting their job at lvl 30 O.o

Also I read somewhere here on this thread someone say lvl other classes for cross class skills for DRG, not a good idea as DRG rotation is kinda long and anything aside from buffs can mess you up. As for gear get your Job(DRG) and start off by farming Castrum Meridianum or Wanderers Palace for Tomes of Philosophy in order to get Darklight gear. You can also do Amdapor Keep but I would say hold off on that till you get a some Darklight accessories(You get from trading in tomes at Mor Dhona shop) because you will most likely not be able to pass the 2nd boss in Amdapor unless your other members are decent. ALSO PLEASE WATCH A VIDEO GUIDE ON ALL DUNGEONS THAT ARE NEW TO YOU!!!!. But if you dont just pay attention to instructions on boss fights.
