[dev1082] What to do with the Chocobo.

Hello all. I thought it would be nice to have a discussion for speculation and ideas behind our favorite feathered mounts.

How should these goldenrod geese be implemented? What sort of novel ideas can we bring to light to inspire the development team? Racing? Breeding? Cooking? What possibilities can you think of?

Let's be open to all ideas!

my idea would be chocobo should manage to carry items, locate random treasures, and breed eggs. maybe add rank to chocobos.

First I like to say " Goldenrod Geese" lmao! I laughed pretty hard on that one lol

Anywho, Here are someway they could Implement Chocobos aka (Goldenrod Geese) hehe:

1) Chocobo Raising
2) Chocobo Racing
3) Chocobo Javlin fight? ( like the Medieval Times)
4) Chocobo Knights
5) Chocobo getting to places that Characters themselves could do without one

and 6) Keep those Ideas Rolling!

- different color and abilities (yellow, green, blue, black, gold; like FF7)

- ability to equip armors/accessories to chocobo

- chocobos have attributes; Speed, Stamina; if your chocobo run out of stamina they'll run slower

- you have to feed them

- you can leveling your chocobo

- you can fight while riding the chocobo but you need cavalier trait

- chocobo racing (like FF7)

- you can spawn/dismiss your chocobo everywhere except the rental chocobos only available at stable in towns

You know... I've never played FFXI so deep to understand how it worked, but I think it's better like this =)

What I would like from Chocobos... hmm...

- Being able to ride them: Means just the possibility to ride a Chocobo in order to make adventuring funnier and faster. I don't know if it'd be alright to being able to ride them in the cities. Just to take an NPC's reaction in a workhouse: "Why hello adv- TAEK DAT FING OUTTA MAH HOWM!"

- Choose from different types of Chocobos: Having played some titles, like FFIV, FFV and FFVI, enough to see every types of Chocobos, it would be great if we had different types of them, like the one that flies (the blue/black one) for example.
Thinking about those games,... man, I'd like if there were wild Chocobos in the field, inside some forests, and maybe being able to tame them, or to refill your HPs with a White Chocobo, but I think I'm asking too much =D

- Minigames like Chocobo Races Wager-style: Coliseums where you can compete with other players for a wager race riding your Chocobo.

- Herd your Chocobo/s: The attribubtes of the Chocobo (speed, stamina, strength,...) are favored depending on how you herd your Chocobos. The best you tame them, the best performance they'll have on the field/combat/minigames.

- Chocobo Quests: Beginning with the quest in order to being able to tame Chocobos, you can do other quests involving the life of your Chocobo, adding some cool storyline also for your pet.

Thoughts? Improvements? Spit it out!

I think an interesting feature if chocobo's are added after the job system is implemented is to create chocobo knight. Most likely an off branch of lancer i would assume. The chocobo is called into battle once the player chooses that specific job and it is like his pet.

To rationalize why they wouldn't run faster than normal players and why you would still be aggro-ed while on that class is that the chocobo has a lot of heavy armor (possibly a customization area where you can differ yours from other pets and make it have different traits) so mobs assume they are enemies and will still attack you and they can only walk with all the armor weighing them down so they wouldn't be faster than normal players.They could possibly give an ability later on that allows them to move slightly faster out of combat.

This is just speculation since we have no idea what the job system is going to be like and what not but it's just a cool idea since I've always liked toying with that idea in XI.

Chocobo Saddle and Armor crafting anyone?

Good saddle could improve speed of the chocobo and armor well....someting else. But mostly for the looks, id love to have a chocobo in armor like on the "comapanies" picture

I would like to see

Breeding (But MUST be improved from 11 and be FUN this time and not cost an effing fortune)
Racing (like in 7, NOT 11)
Variety of colors and other physical differences
Personalities
Leveling chocobos
Chocobo knights
Chocobo packs for extra storage
Equipable armor and accessories for chocobos
Able to fight both ON and alongside the chocobo
Summonable and rideable anywhere except in cities
Have to feed them (not on a timely basis, but like repairing gear) or their stats lower.
Differently bred chocos have different stat builds and essentially become different 'classes' of chocos (healer, melee, etc)
Able to own more than one chocobo, but not an unlimited amount. Maybe 3-5.
No chocos slower than rentals
Completely free naming for chocos (NOT chosen from a list)
A 'companion' feel to them. Like they're not just an instrument to ride on, but a beloved pet. Walk it around alongside you and such.

I definitely want some map areas, accessible only with chocobo, or while on chocobo different interactions with environment are available (higher spots, long distance jumps unable to get to normally)
