Hasty Touch
Have I been living under a rock? So i'm a lvl 50 wvr and 15-30 in most everything else.......EXCEPT CULINARY!
So I keep hearing about this hasty touch so I look it up and its 100% efficiency 50% success rate. Costs zero CP. I'm assuming of course it costs 10 durability unless you're using Wastnot.
So is that the best way to increase Quality? Generally I use the the 42CP Quality skill with SH1 and Great Strides?
Pretty much fully geared BiS other than materia. Haven't tried a 2star yet. Is hasty touch the ONLY way to go or??

Hasty is a back up plan for people who don't have 50 skill rotations.
I've used it. It's great for making an item you only need one of when you are powerless to get HQ material.
The best methods to craft are still in HQ materials and solid rotations. I'm glad the Hasty touch, survival mechanic is in there but I never made it my go to plan for leveling or manufacturing of crafted goods.

Yes, it takes 10 durability.
And yeah, it's a good back-up plan when you don't have better options. It's great while you're leveling. Basically, if the only way you can get a 100% HQ without Hasty Touch is to get really lucky (Excellent at the right time), Hasty Touch means you only have to get pretty lucky (enough Goods to fuel TotT so you can regain Durability several times and a lack of failures).

Thats awesome thanks for the info . I'll pick it up but know it's not the end-all be-all for high end crafting. My plan is to 50 my Crp for the B-Blessing thingy. Culinary for SH2

I use hasty touch quite frequently. For 80 durability synths I use: inner quiet, SH2, hasty touch x5, careful synth, restore 60 durability, then start using 32/48 cp touches to finish. Having 700+ control after 5 hasty touches with inner quiet up really makes the touch actions powerful.
-
Hasty touch is way better than a back up. Inner quiet with 4-5 hasty touch stacks with ingeunuity 2, great strides, brygots blessing will almost guarantee HQ. Combined with tricks of the trade, comfort zone, manipulation, & waste not, you can endlessly craft without running out of cp and durability. Best skill ever with steady hand 2.
-
Hasty Touch is fantastic and I use it on every single craft I do. Combine it with SH or even SH2 and you get a ton of quality for no CP at all, freeing you up quite a bit for things like Manipulation or Master's Mend.
-
For 2 star synths, you practically NEED Hasty Touch to HQ 40 dura items. For 80 dura rotations however it's not required and using Basic Touch is a lot better with SH2
-
It's amazing while leveling, I don't see many level 50 rotations with it in it though. Consider this:
Basic Touch: 100% eff 70% chance
Cost: 24CP 10Dura
Hasty Touch: 100% eff 50% chance
Cost: 10Dura
Steady Hands + Hasty Touch: 100% eff 70% chance
Cost 1 HT: 22CP 10Dura
Cost 5 HT: 22CP 50Dura
Avg Cost: 4.4CP 10Dura
Steady Hands + Waste Not + Hasty Touch: 100% eff 70% chance
Cost 1 HT: 76CP 5Dura
Cost 4 HT: 76CP 20Dura
Avg Cost: 19CP 5Dura
4x Basic Touch Cost: 96CP 40 Dura
So by combining Steady Hands and Waste Not with Hasty spam, you can get the effect of 4 Basic Touches for 20 CP and 20 Dura less than just the BTs. So that's nice.
Also by spamming a lot more touches you add more IQ stacks, which I believe is about 10% control increase per HT success.
There's more to it but that's my general strategy at the 30ish level for HQing my level items with a few tricks thrown in:
TotT is a +1 CP positive gain even if taking SH/WN stack.
If excellent and at least 3 stacks of IQ use Standard Touch, or if you think it's good enough to hit 90%+
Careful Synth on Poor or after SH drops if you had a SH ->Good(TotT) -> WN
Obviously save enough dura/cp/WN stacks to complete progress bar. I tend to start recipes I'm not comfortable with yet with IQ -> WN -> CS(TotT if good) -> repeat last till out of WN stacks or one CS will finish, burn rest of WN stacks on HT or go into SH/WN/SHx4 rotation depending on your CP. I do this if I'm not certain I can predict enough Dura at the end to go 0->100 on progress.

IQ raises control by 20% after each successful Touch.
That has an effect of raising the Quality by 10-15% of the base amount on the next Touch, and it is all cumulative.

hmm...Well then. I'l lget that this evening and test it out see what I think!

I hate Hasty Touch. Even when paired with Steady Hands II, I fail 8/10 touches 7/10 times. RNG trul hate
