Deepvoid Deathmouse

Why are there always people at it? They're AFK right now. It just seems odd, there are level 50's there pretty much 24/7. When they're active they claim very aggressively and kill the Deepvoid Deathmouse.

It doesn't appear to drop anything special.
Its well below their level.

Are they powerleveling someone over the wall in Quarrymill?
Spiritbonding super slowly?

What's the deal? It just seems very peculiar. I'm aware it goes on at some other servers thanks to a few friends of mine.

I have seen the same thing on Excalibur, I have no idea what they are doing...

Likely bots if they're on 24/7 and only attacking it (scripted)?

This definitely crossed my mind, but going through all that trouble for Animal Skins seems kind of odd. Just trying to figure this out.

Oh they're bots for sure, there's no doubt there. The question though is why are they doing it? I've seen those guys there myself, and they often just sit there aoeing for hours on end. They're located in a terrible spot for farming the local mobs too.

4 characters farming 1G animal hides doesn't seem right. There has to be more to it than that.

I did, and no answer of course. I'm taking a closer look at things to figure it out.

I have never seen a group in AF like that picture, but I just figured they're using them to level. It can level them to 50 without having to move. Tediously slow, but bots don't care about tedium.

They're all 50 though, and have been for a long time. I suppose the powerleveling thing could be true, though I've never witnessed anyone just randomly dinging any levels while afk in Quarrymill.

Well, not them specifically. But on the other side of the wall there are a few people (lvl 50 THMs, not BLMs), wearing various crafting gear and such. I was running around and just happened to see the "spiritbond complete" animation on them as I ran through.

Though, why hide only half of the people involved at that point?

Yes, I believe spiritbonding for profit would be the logical answer, but you are underestimating how quickly gear spiritbonds, and level 35 mobs allow spiritbonding gear up to ilvl50. Honestly, it's not a bad idea if you didn't want to deal with the competition farming in-demand drops on mobs of similar level.

Aside from that, the Deepvoid Deathmouse is a Hunting Log mob for Conjurer & Archer, but that wouldn't justify long-term camping.

Spoken Blood off the Lesser Kalong. No idea why they would kill the DV DM though.

They're bots. They're on every server - if you look at their gear they always have white electrum gear to bind for materia equipped; usually of a different class to their actual class.

I don't understand why the GM's don't just swoop by that spot daily and blanket ban everyone there who so much as looks like a bot, because the bots have been there months; I gave up even trying to report them, being so many and the fact nobody ever does anything about it.

Maybe they've been watching Monty Python's the Quest for the Holy Grail and figure that the mouse is the closest thing to the furry monster in the movie so they're taking their vengeance upon it early before it can start wrecking untold havoc on the masses!

You should be thankful and shower them with praise!





Or, they could be bots testing out script patterns on a random monster that's high enough in level to not die instantly, but not so terrible that they have to really worry about being killed by it.

But probably the holy grail thing.

They're trying to get a rat tail so Bahamut will +1 their job crystals.

Near the end of 1.0 when everything started going all ass-over-tea-kettle, random camps in Mor Dhona (We had more than one back then) would get overrun with Deepvoid mobs while Atomos would sit hovering over the Aetheryte doing... something. These included skeletons and puddings and Batraal (or his cousins).

I'd take my revenge on anything sporting the deepvoid label. Not for the pain they caused on killing us over and over, but for the 2 minutes+ lag the zones would get for teleporting. Seriously. You'd kill atomos, get your crystal, then choose teleport back to town. Then you'd sit there for a minute or more, just staring.

Kill the deepvoids!

With bots speed isn't as important as safety. They can leave the bots killing lvl 35 mobs while wearing poor-for-class gear with little risk. The same bot fighting higher level mobs might get killed which would put a stop to the bonding until a live person comes and moves the bot back to the farming area.

Isn't there a Fate that pops right around there? Maybe they're botting the fate to level up?

I killed those things for quite a while one day, just because of the name. Who doesn't wanna be able to say "yeah one time I spent hours fighting off infinite waves of deepvoid deathmice". That's the first thing on my resume now.
