I have my 2 retainers full 175/175 slots, and my inventory is full, I can't get more retainers and I need a lot of slots because I'm starting my crafting classes (I'm lv17 weaver and lv14 leatherworker), do you have any suggestions? Every time I run dungeons I pass every loot I don't really need, but I have 1/4 set of slots with equipments I need, 3 sets full of crafting materials (1 set full of 99ish stacks of Moko Grass, Leather, Hard leather, Hempen Yarn, Cotton Yarn, Cock Feather and so on) and the few empty slots always get filled in 2-3 crafts, so I always have to craft 2 objects-discard them-craft another 2...
I don't really know where to put my stuff.

Get rid of most of your low level materials. Get rid of anything that you aren't going to use anytime in the near future (example: cooking materials if you have no intention of leveling cooking at all within the next, like... week).
Anything you can buy really cheap from any of the Guild supply NPCs and Tradecraft Supplier NPCs should be gotten rid of and just bought whenever you need it, IMO. You can check out xivdb or just check the guilds themselves to see what they carry.
You will likely never need those mats again and in the rare chance you do you can just grab what you need from NPC and quickly make it. -

I'm another player who is having some problem keeping the inventory organized. It really does fill up fast, once you get into crafting. (Much like real life that way...)
So is there any way to make more characters and use them and their retainers for storage, passing items back and forth as needed? My web searches on this topic lead me to suspect that the answer is "no", unless you use an external friend as a go-between. But, am I missing something obvious?
Another idea: when we finally get housing, will the houses have closets? That would be a very welcome perk of getting a personal space. -

You don't have to get rid of them but once you run out don't go out and get more just to stick it on a retainer. Leather and Hard leather are easily obtainable from NPCs.

Inventory space is not a problem.
Inventory managment is the issue, a serius one, like, damn, is this game from... 1990?
We need better item managment tool, like filters, sort buttons, material pages within retainers, etc. At the moment i have everything sorted by myself at the retainers, but the inventory per se is impossible to keep clean. -

The armory chest needs say a 5 slot increase IMO. I only have My lvl 50 gear and the gear i'm leveling at the time in it and its always 24/25.

There needs to be more room please Square-Enix...We need to have chests in our FC Housing. Most of us save tiered levels of gear for ALTS coming up later and do not want to have to make it or buy it again when we need it...we already did it once and should not have to do it again.

SE can't add any further slots to any inventory, and they can't even put chests in houses, because of the data the server may stream.
You all know what happens when Odin is there, right? That means the server can't handle so many players together, and this goes also for items. Imagine how many items a single world has in every inventory, in every retainer and in every armory in the inns.
Now, I'd really like to have something like "select what you want to discard", and not "item-discard, item-discard, item-discard", doing this for 60 items is really painful.
Any multiple selection option (multiple discard/move/ecc..) would make everything unimaginably easier. -

One thing that could help is to get rid of mats that are just used to make other mats. For example, I see that you have Moko Grass and Hempen Yarn listed. No need to keep that Moko Grass, as it is only used to make the yarn you already have, so just stock the yarn. Or when you start leveling BSM or ARM; Instead of keeping copper and tin ore, just make them into Bronze Ingots, and only stock ingots. Also, make items as you need them. Need hempen cloth for this recipe? Just make it with the yarn you have stocked. Need bronze rivets for this? Make them out of the ingots you have stocked.
I know it's not perfect, and more space would be nice, but this method has helped me a lot. -

If FFXIV was implemented such that items in your Armoire and Retainers affect the data streaming to and from the server while you are in adventuring areas, Square Enix has done something horribly, horribly wrong.

You'll never have enough inventory slots if you don't manage them.
I run with a Lv50 GSM, WVR, Lv49ACN, lv47WHM, lv30BLM, lv15 ARC and all other DoH...2 bag of my personal inventory and 1/3 of my retainer inventory is empty. Get rid of stuffs you don't need. -
