※Cannot be used during battle.
Didn't even know this exist. Is this a one-time use item? And how do you ACTUALLY use it? I'm guessing after battle :p

Tbh, it's kind of useless, I held onto mine for a while for that "just in case moment" then found out it can't be used in battle. And since there's pretty much no penalty for dying, people just HP instead of getting a raise. Kind of wish there was a penalty for dying so raise would actually be useful and maybe people would learn to dodge and not just take the damage lol
One of the most iconic FF item being useless...why SE why? Seems to me like its just a souvenir item then.
I just wish they would ditch the unique tag and make them more available. Not every job has access to res, and it takes 30 seconds to change class when out in the field.
Summoner LB should call the actual primal of the Egi they're using to unleash an attack on the enemy and then teleport away. Now that would be awesome.
They nerfed it because it had a 10% chance of summoning phoenix to the battle.
I wish I had the source, but it was in a live letter. I wanna say the one or two just before launch. :/ But yes. In the future (lol) we're (FC's) are getting the ability to summon a full Primal. However, caveats they added:
1) Must be hunted in the wild
2) Only one primal of each type available to use at a time
3) If the FC doesn't use it within a certain time (a week I think they said) it'll despawn from the FC list and someone else can claim it.
That's all I can remember though.
This right here is one of a few reasons it just sits on my man servant. He like feathers and so I gave it to him. Maybe there will be an actual use for them later down the line.
Happened to me one-time at level ~48 I received a Phoenix Down from quest reward. Some guy died in front of me and I told him to wait for rez. I tried using the Phoenix Down on him and it never worked.
you target somebody and use it like you would use any item. You can only use it whenever you would be able to ride a mount- when you are not on any enemies' hate lists. It is a one time use item and it only comes from a quest.
FFXIV 1.0 had similar items that were purchasable from the grand companies (you could only carry two: One that had a 50/50 chance to work, and one that always worked- You could have one of each but not more than one of either.)
The penalty for dying in primal fights and bosses is probably having to start over because getting up during a boss fight is rarely easy. The penalty for dying anywhere else is gil and time wasted. That's penalty enough. I can 100% guarantee you that nobody is purposely not dodging to their full capability because dying doesn't punish them enough. Increasing the death penalty isn't going to make anyone try any harder than they already are.Quote:

It's stupid to have zero penalty for returning but have a weakness penalty for raising. making Raise useless except in the boss rooms.
Hell, even outside of battle, i was unable to use my phoenix down. Useless items is completely useless.
Whenever I've used a Phoenix Down on someone it's worked. I mean granted, not being able to use them in battle makes them useless but I have used a few on occasion.
Since there is no penalty for death and all dungeon are instanced yeah, it's kinda useless. This isn't FFXI.
The penelty for death is gear damage, can we pass on that now? Getting alittle repetitive and it's already been said. I don't really have a problem with that being the only penalty. The only time people die on purpose is when speed running myth dungeons. Other then that, people are trying to live for the sake of completing the battle, if you die it makes things harder for everyone else and increases the chance of a wipe. That's enough for me. But Phoenix down is useless
I kinda wish Phoenix Downs were a self-rez, you really don't see that many of them tbh and it would make them immensely useful. I mean, as long as you have one in your inventory, once you die, it should give you the option to raise. Raising up would use the item and it would disappear, while if you chose not to raise you would keep the item. That would certainly be a much better and more useful use for them, and having them be used while in combat (ei. dungeon/instance fight).
