Has anyone tried using a ps4 controller on PC with ARR yet? Your thoughts?
Um the PS4 is not out yet, so the answer to your question is no.
I would like to know this as well. The touchpad seems like it could be really useful in this game. Although i dont expect such functionality until the actual ps4 release.
Someone posted a thread that they did but the buttons (x,o) are reversed and nothing with touchscreen.
As the above poster has already stated, it has yet to be released. my question to you is why do you believe it will perform any different from the Imitation ps3 controllers i.e. logitech?.. other than the touch screen placed in the middle the ps4 model still mimics the current ps3 controller.
Also who's to say PC will support ps4 plugins? considering pc does not support ps3 plugins, unless via a work around.
curious as to why they are selling them now /shrug
The PS4 hasn't been released yet but the controllers have been.
there is already a thread

I was really hoping that the PS4 controller would have the left analog in the proper position, but sadly it seems they'll fix the analog position around the same time that Microsoft releases a controller with a decent D-Pad. :(
I already made a thread, feel free to look at my post history to find it. Only thread I ive started. Yes buttons are reversed and you need to manually reconfigure the cfg file.
Once you get that done it plays perfectly.
As for the other posts, PS4 controllers are already on sale, look it up (so is the eye camera for some reason). Its a little iffy, some PS3 games wont play with the PS4 controller and on PC it works better but ive seen some videos where it doesnt work right. I got it because im getting one anyway but I wouldnt recommend it if you only want it for PC. Sony might make drivers for them but then again .... they never have.
I prefer it on the bottom. Entire reason the dpad sucks so much on the xbox controller is because of its position.
you prefer it on the bottom is preference, I happen to prefer the left analog stick on the top. but that again is preference. the D-pad on the Dualshock 2/3 has been superior since the first xbox and people who prefer the xbox layout have complained about the D-pad for a long time. but that isnt because of the layout.
no the position is preference. the whole reason the d-pad sucks is because of that large piece of plastic between the dpad and the rubber conductor. don't believe me go search for what's inside the xbox 360 controller and have a look at the d-pad assembly. the evil dpad makes a huge difference because it turns that lacking d-pad into 4 buttons making it more acurate.
microsoft used the same design for that dpad that they started with the duke, it wasnt well thought up design but since they were rarely using it nobody noticed till they tried to use it on games that made better use of it like fighting games and fps
For me, I feel that the Xbox poor dpad is due to its construction, rather than lack of separation. The best dpad I've ever used was the old SNES controller, and it wasn't separated like the Playstation.
The XBox uses this really cheap plastic, as opposed to a high quality plastic or rubber (preferred).
Actually the Xbox controllers have always been high quality plastic not cheap. I have been inside both controllers. neither uses low quality parts. quality of parts does not make up for bad design which is what that D-pad is.
The construction of the Xbox d-pad is a big chunk of plastic under the plastic your thumb hits, it puts the D-pad close to an inch away from the actual board and the result is lots of accidentily hitting the wrong direction. Microsoft is as far as I know the only company to ever do this. the only way to resolve the d-pad issue for more acuracy is to replace it with buttons.
The PS/2/3/4 d-pad isnt actually seperated its a single piece of plastic but its almost right up against the electronic board/film underneath it which is why it's superior. which is as you probably guessed it pretty much the same with the SNES D-pad
here is a quote from one of the happy evil d-pad owners
I didnt post a link however if you search "evil d-pad" you should find it pretty fast for anyone interested.Quote:
"The Evil D-Pad Facelift Kit fixes every single problem with the original 360 controller. Gone is the world's worst ever d-pad design. Instead you get 100% accurate buttons that just simply work perfectly.
Thumbsticks also get an overhaul. The included evil sticks are a different shape to the originals. I was skeptical at first, but I can say, having used them, that they are more accurate and more comfortable to use. Just as importantly they fixed the drifting issue on my old and worn sticks! Excellent.
Thanks Evil. I'd thoroughly recommend this kit to anyone with a 360 controller."
Mocrosofts new xbox controller for the one is supposed to be much better. Sounds like its gonna be similar to ps d-pads or any other D-Pad which is a huge plus for me kuz I always prefered xbox controller over all else. Just that D-Pad.
But as far as I know, that controller isn't coming out till the console comes out so I'll have to wait n see
