Cannot re-queue on Duty Finder for 15 minutes?

Ok, first off I want to apologize in case this was discussed elsewhere, I DID search for this issue on the forum but couldn't find anything about it even with specific keywords, so I decided to take it on a new thread.

I decided to spiritbond some gear on my tank that I didn't want anymore to turn into materia. I quickly get invited to Tam Tara deepcroft, but within a few seconds I learn that the miqo'te conjurer in our group is a cure bot set up by one of our DPSs. I never adopted 3rd party tools and the last thing I want is to support those who do, I left duty thinking I could queue again and find a more honest and efficient group. But when I am back in Gridania and open up Duty Finder I find all the possible duties locked, and the window saying this:

You are unable to undertake any duties at this time.
Time remaining until Duty Finder is available: 15 m.

I would just like to know when and why was this implemented? While after all I don't mind having to wait for 15 minutes, I feel kind of punished for not accepting to tag along with a botter. Could there be a way to avoid this treatment for special cases such as mine? But really I'm just curious to know what this feature is supposed to help with.

Yep this is happens if you are the first to leave a group.

Edit: Adding this in because, while I agree it does suck. It happens. I wouldn't would of wanted to party with someone who was botting either. Though I honestly hope you reported them, that would make that 15 minutes wasted more worth it in my opinion.

Fortunately, that penalty only applies to the first person that leaves the instance; meaning that if someone else leaves before you, you would be able to leave and re-queue right away. I'm sorry to hear about the experience you went through. We can only hope you won't find another player that uses bots through the Duty Finder.

The first person to leave duty finder before the instance is finished gets the 15 minute lock out. As far as I remember its has always been this way. SE has it in there to discourage people from leaving instances early. I know it sucks in your case but I would have left too had I become aware someone in my DF party was botting.

It's been in the game since ARR went into beta; It is designed to discourage people from bailing out of a run in the middle. The people after the first aren't penalized because they've been screwed over by the first person to leave in most cases, particularly the primal fights.

The lockout is in place to discourage people from leaving groups early for petty/minor reasons or "fishing" for groups (joining and dropping until they find one they like) since this is pretty inconvenient to the other people in the party who then need to wait for a replacement.

I don't see how you could possibly expect them to implement an exception for "special cases" like the one you describe. Do you expect a GM to manually review your situation and determine that yes, you didn't deserve the 15 minute penalty? I understand that it's inconvenient in situations like yours but I assure you it'd be far more inconvenient to have tanks and healers just joining and leaving random dungeons constantly until they find one with exact party makeup and gear they're hoping for.

Quick question.. By Cure Bot, do you mean he told you he is using 3rd party software to control another character, or is he just dual boxing? I used to play a pld and dual boxed a thf when I played 11; not a big deal if they are efficient at controlling two characters simultaneously.

Even though it never happened to me, I think it should be more like 30-60 min.

15 min nothing but a lunch break, an hour will really discourage grief

Believe me, I really would've liked to report it. Unfortunately though dungeons cross servers, and I cannot report a player if I can't specify the server they're on. I even tried to look the bot up on the Lodestone, but there are several miqo'te with that name, and I don't want to risk reporting an honest player >_<

The bot was set up to costantly cast cure on me (as I'm the tank). In fact, it kept ignoring the archer that got beat down when I refused to go on with a bot, and kept casting cure on me even with full HP.

Edit: The archer pulled before me, I didn't let him die on purpose. I had stopped to talk to the owner of the bot and the archer went on to pull.

Yeah, I agree it should be extended to at least 30 mins, 15 mins is taking a walk a crossed the street to Mcd to grab a sandwich and make it in time for the person to re-que.

You can still report them. I did it once for a jerk I had in DF. I just put the name of the person who did it. Explained to them what happened and mentioned it was in DF and didn't know what world they were from and let them take it from there. They got their own logs to look back at this stuff I am sure. They gotta.

Which it is sad, you don't know what world a person is from. It would make things so much easier. However, the reason they probably don't do it so it doesn't cause fights between non-legacy and legacy as it did in Beta. I honestly dunno.

Write the name down then do a lodestone search. That usually narrows it down a lot.

I agree. This is something I really didn't think of due to what happened. I was just upset at the time to be honest and felt it important to report what happened.

If it's a full party there is no Que time on exit.

the queue penalty only happens after a certain point. i have left parties in frustration and did not receive a penalty, but it was like 20-30 mins into a run

You never get this penalty if you join a party in progress, even if you do leave first.

Extending the timer just makes griefing worse. Griefers are there just to annoy people and make them leave, giving someone the duty penalty..

It has happened to me before and I would have been thoroughly annoyed at a one hour lockout after dropping group after being queued for SM Ifrit for over an hour to advance my story. Second DPS DC'd and the healer decided it would be funny to repeatedly pull and wipe us (he even "yelled" LEROY JENKINS" in chat before doing so. I just happened to leave slightly before the tank so I got the lockout.

Question: why doesn't the DC'd character get the lockout in that case?

You could have just searched both the main and bot names in lodestone....find the one with same server as the main guy and report.

I had one where a guy dual-boxed healer & DD, caused us to wipe constantly on Satasha... figured out he was dual-boxing when the healer just stood there for a while while me & the two DDs moved ahead. I was going to tell him there's another way to play with himself other than dual-boxing (after the final boss) but my power cut out in the middle of the final boss...

This needs to be removed period its ridiculous to even have this. With the amount of rage quitters in this game this is incredibly unfair to those who wait a long time only to have someone quit within the first few minutes. If anything the first person to quit out should be the one hit with the 15 minute cool down not everyone else.

I only have so much time to play at night and as someone who uses DF quite abit its bs that half of the time I have to play is waiting 15 minutes at a time to re-que cause someone decides to quit after one titan run.

means you quit like a lil kid, did NOT stick it out, should go play with legos?
